I don't see anything in the ad indicating the two men are a couple (not that there would be anything wrong with that). Maybe the mom dated both men then died without divulging which one was the father.
And at the rate they [the Fundamentalist/conservative churches] are trying to do away with abortion, who do they think are going to be adopting all the unwanted/uncared for children they and their ilk spawn? They won't even approve tax increases to take care of the children the western-world already has in its care, as it currently exists!!! As I look at it even more closely, I wonder how we as a society in general expect to care for all the children who will be conceived and later potentially born, after the ban on abortions that the conservatives so desperately want/crave for/protest over, ad nauseam?!? Love and care and concern for all these little ones who may be in the system in - say - five years - are going to have to go somewhere, and I sincerely doubt there will be many couples or even singles who will be able to qualify for fostering them, let alone adopting any of them. Sad to say, it's the people like Ms. Cole and the others whose choices to hold onto ideas and ideals that were hopelessly outdated 100+ years ago, and don't hold water to simple logic and reason. Taking that one advertisement, alone, shows me how little compassion she has for others. The boy is being well cared for, and loved.
