Translation error? But it's the bible. The inerrant Word of God.

There are no errors. Just different ways of looking at things. :S

From a certain point of view?!?

Yeah, old Ben was a top-notch prevaricator.

But of course. That's what my (few) religious relatives say too.

There is something especially despicable about child molesters who hide behind their clerical collars and Bibles.

I like to say we should hold them to higher standards than anyone else, but equal standards would be nice.

Expand full comment

Hell, ANY standards would be an improvement at this point.

A misdemeanor? Fucking 11-year-old. What the actual fuck?

Expand full comment

Perhaps it was only "vanilla penetration".

Where are we? Australia?

Clicked through to the Milwaukee paper's article. Hemant left out one detail. The groping incident in Wisconsin happened when the boy was 18. Still don't think it should be a misdemeanor, but a little more understandable. Apparently, no jurisdiction allows him to face charges for the original incident with a fucking 11-year-old in 1970.

We don't allow a SOL on murder, so why the fuck do we allow one on child rape?

Oh and the motherfucker's in "home for troubled priests" in Missouri.

He has dementia and will forget everything that he's done. His victims won't quite be so lucky.

Since Jeezy-Weezy is going to forgive him anyway, why should he bother to remember? And anyway, it was a long time ago when those evil, demonic boys tempted him into sin.

Jesse remembers when he had him some sweet young thang to canoodle with, so he'll look the other way.

As far as we know, unlike the "Holy" Ghost, Jesus never got off on preteens.

Not quite sure of the imaginary John the Beloved's age, but I've always been led to believe that he was 14.

Don't forget it is official Catholic doctrine that Old Man God, Jeezy Weezy, and the Horny Pigeon are all the same god.

Since Jesus will forgive him anyway, why bother paying lawyers to defend him? Give that money to the poor… or the victims.

If he forgets – what's to stop him doing it again? I hope to hell they keep them out of society for a long time.

His lawyer *says* he has dementia. It is remarkable the number of criminals that were highly successful at jobs, life, etc. and yet are emotionally or mentally incompetent after they are caught. Were I a victim, I would not trust the dementia claim without independent confirmation.

Clearly at 92 it wouldn't be unexpected if he actually had it. If that's the case, then maybe no jail, but squalor resulting from all his savings going to his victims seems justified.

The church has probably already placed him in a home for old pedophiles.

Sounds shady to me, as well. Unfortunately, we have no evidence that this guy is faking it.

It was a shock at the time? Not to anyone who's been paying any attention.

At least Wisconsin is doing something kinda right. With our new Supreme Court justice (as long as the corrupt shitstains who cheated their way into our legislature don’t get to fuck the state over) I’m hopeful that won’t be an avenue for him to avoid responsibility.

Our fearless Senator is still whining about his fabricated report on Biden’s financials not getting attention in 2020. We heard you, dumbass, we just don’t trust what you’re claiming because you’re a hypocritical, lying sack of shit who’s been bilking the country for years and you made this shït up to support another hypocritical lying sack of orange shit trying to bill the country out of billions.

I’m grumpy today. Maybe I need a snickers.

Death will let him avoid responsibility. Hope there's a Purgatory/Hell for him to spend the next few centuries/millennia in.

Well, at least he’ll be dead and unable to perpetrate more crimes.

Your grumpy? I'm trying to put together a cross trainer and I've got bits missing and bits left over, and an impending divorce. 😁 Only delayed by the fact that I managed to get some salmon on special today. I'd love to know who writes the instructions – I think I might put them up against a wall and shoot them. I love even more to know who draws the diagrams, must be Tinkerbell because there about the size of a milk bottle top.

Well, I’ll grant you the divorce probably beat my bad mood. I just found out I’m paying two grand more in taxes this year, I’ve just suffered four migraines in a row, we just had eighty degree weather only to get hit with a winter storm and a couple inches of snow.

Why assume he was duped when it's far more likely that Fucker the bootlicking Putin apologist, with a documented history of running stories he knew full well were false, was in on the gag from the start? I know, never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity... but the malice is already proven, in his case. Presenting a Russian propaganda piece as if it were factual is 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 the kind of thing that fascist asshat would do.

Equally as guilty as Cardinal McCarrick is the entire system, the hierarchy of powerful men that for decades knowingly concealed his crimes, fended off accusers and investigators, shielded him from the law while his victims grew up with serious psychological damage and the belief that they could say nothing, that they could do nothing, that they WERE NOTHING.

Only now, as he fades into the foggy oblivion of dementia is the extent of his cruelty coming to light, and so he will YET AGAIN escape from consequences because he will be incapable of even knowing what is happening.

I can only hope that his victims will find some small measure of healing because another ugly chapter about the Empire of Rape is revealed to the world. May the children inside them be finally liberated from their pain, from their undeserved shame and guilt, as well as any lingering vestige of delusion that the RCC is an institution of goodness.

Expand full comment

At 92 with ALZ he won't be around long. His victims will be denied justice.

They'd likely be denied it anyway.

Typical of these stories, by the time the RCC releases their files, the pedophile is dead or mostly dead.

Another victim of Christian persecution, taken to task by the godless government. Expect donations at Catholic churches to go up in response. Just another cost of doing business at Jesus, Inc.

This is good news. This is also small potatoes. One single clergyman is a drop in the bucket, compared to what I have no doubt is a considerably larger number of sexual offenders who wear priests' collars, in the state of Wisconsin and the 49 others. That wants far more serious attention than has been paid to date.

I'm sure you know the one about: "Every one who loves the darkness hateth the light," right? It is well past time we put a laser on the Catholic Church.

Why single out Hamilton? That's what they all are. Besides, I'm sure Hamilton w must have been perfectly reverent, pious, and holy and all like that when he was canoodling with John Laurens.
