These right-wing whack-job pastors don’t offend me half as much as do the people who delegate their thinking to them.

Obligatory: Not a drag queen.

Joe,

I'm old and forgetful.

Did you ever see me mention my get-rich-quick scheme for "Rapture Insurance" here?

How it works is there are things that "Christians" would like to see done in the event they (and all other Christians HARHARHAR!) are "taken up in the rapture". In the meantime, I'm collecting monthly credit card charges, amount of which is based on the requests made, and request difficulty/cost. As soon as the "rapture" begins, all charges cease.

Requests like letting a pet bird out, or delivering a last "I love you" to a non-Christian relative.

WHO AM I KIDDING! 90% of them would be letters to be mailed saying, "I'm in heaven, and YOU'RE NOT, so FUCK YOU!"

I actually wrote up a prospectus and contacted a lawyer before I realized that, even toward Christians, this feels wrong to me.

So, who wants it next?

Most Obligatory of All: Not an atheist.

Sinanju06's avatar

Also obligatory: not a transgender person, or an immigrant, or Muslim, or Democrat, etc.

NOGODZ20's avatar

If you're a pastor for the Apricot Antichrist, you seriously need to reevaluate what it is that you are supporting,

Troublesh00ter's avatar

That would require thought and reflection. NOT their strong suits.

regmeyer's avatar

They will do what they are told and like it.

Troublesh00ter's avatar

Yup ... purdy much.

Daniel Rotter's avatar

I like apricots. I will kindly ask you NOT to associate them with Donald Trump. That is all, carry on.

Bensnewlogin's avatar

You may call him Mango Mussolini, unless you like Mangos too much, ya dam’ fruit lover.

How about Temussolini? That’s just on the heathen chinee!

NOGODZ20's avatar

Thank you. Much appreciated.

Boreal's avatar

I doubt this will damage his campaign. His demographic of voters support an orange rapist and pedophile who cheated on every one of his wives.

PhillyT's avatar

I was just going to say, there is literally no bottom for white evangelical voters. They will vote for the worst person as long as the person hates the same people they do.

Ann Higgins's avatar

I hate to mention this in case his wife is reading (poor deluded woman, she thinks it’s the fault of the woman who refused his invitation to have sex with him) but the odds on his having done this before are very high.

Ditto on his doing it again, and again, until she chucks him out.

Joe King's avatar

The "other woman" was an employee. The wife should start looking at the payroll.

Accidental Bertha's avatar

The guy is a classic narcissist, and I feel bad for his kids. His wife will hold on because she probably knows that divorced mothers usually wind up poor.

ericc's avatar

I agree he's probably done this before. And her being on the payroll implies some power imbalance. However, she seems to have her act together and it seems very unlikely to me that 'campaign staff' is her financial lifeline. IMO this is much more of a "it takes two to tango" situation than a "crap I have to put up with this to keep my job" situation.

Ann Higgins's avatar

Yes, and she refused him, which must have hurt him in a very tender place - his ego.

Bensnewlogin's avatar

Chucking him out would be a sin. UPchucking him out is OK wid Jeebus.

Ann Higgins's avatar

Sadly true, especially with 5 kids. Which is exactly why so called Christian nationalists like him are pushing women into homemaking and child production so as to make it harder for them to leave no matter how badly their husbands behave.

Troublesh00ter's avatar

Sometimes it seems as though the word, "Integrity" and the phrase, "Christian Nationalism" are utter strangers to each other. In the case of Jackson Lahmeyer, I would say my statement is all but intuitively obvious. "Do as I say, not as I do" might as well be their rallying cry, and unmeant apologies their stock in trade.

Jackson Lahmeyer shouldn't be elected dog catcher, never mind House Representative.

The internalized misogyny of purity culture nonsense is strong with this one. Husband steps out, wife blames the other woman, not understanding that both women are victims of a predator taking advantage of purity culture nonsense.

Boreal's avatar

It's part of the xtian ethos: wimmen are property and such.

regmeyer's avatar

They should do as they tld and stay in the kitchen making samwiches and popping out more kids.

Accidental Bertha's avatar

He's about 40 or so? That was the selfish decade,as I remember it. That definitely was a meaner generation.

"He has said Black Lives Matter was founded by “witchcraft-practicing lesbians,”"

Where do I sign up?

NOGODZ20's avatar

He says that like it’s a bad thing.

Alverant's avatar

I'm surprised ... his sexting partner is an an adult.

Brianna Amore's avatar

The Seventh Commandment: Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Matthew 5:27: "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

MAGA Christians: "Hold my beer".

Morality is for OTHER people, not them. They only use morality as a cudgel in order to JUDGE others. Yet for some reason they don't believe they will be judged. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Accidental Bertha's avatar

Yup. The Pilgrims and Puritans did the same thing, lots of hypocrisy.

Old Man Shadow's avatar

Rules are meant for the followers, not the leaders.

It's how authoritarian systems work. How hierarchies work. How they maintain control. You climb the ladder so you can be shit on by less people and you can shit on more. You viciously defend your rank and privilege because equality means losing.

This is, generally speaking, the thing conservatives are trying to conserve.

Accidental Bertha's avatar

It's a very Putin- like way of thinking. No wonder he's so popular with hardcore rightists. And of course the Communists too.

Maltnothops's avatar

He’s not perfect. Just forgiven. /s

Troublesh00ter's avatar

As though that means a damned thing.

Eric's avatar

The most frustrating thing about this story is that it just goes to show how disinvested people are in politics. Relying on an endorsement - either to further your campaign or to choose who you vote for - is laziness at its core.

Brianna Amore's avatar

It'a cult. Therefore the cult leader tells them how to think and who to vote for.

Mark Carpenter's avatar

Quelle surprise!

**NOT!**

NOGODZ20's avatar

Indeed. When are holier-than-thou hypocrites NOT engaging in sexy funtime?

Mark Carpenter's avatar

I’m freaking GAY, and compared to the fundagelicals, I seem so VANILLA when it comes to sex!

When I read about some of the fundangelical’s sexual exploits, I find myself wanting to take a BATH!

Die Anyway's avatar

Sounds like a great American. If I were an Oklahoma Republican, I'd vote for him. As far as the sexting thing, did you see the bazookas on that chick? Any red blooded American man (and probably a few women) would be drooling over a chance for a piece of that. It's not the pastor's fault. I mean, God gave us hormones for a reason, am I right? And besides, if Trump likes him, I like him. Ain't no way around that. Buncha godam Satan worshipping libruls trying to bring down a man of God. What's this country coming to?

Troublesh00ter's avatar

Ummm ... are you off your meds AGAIN??? 😉

Die Anyway's avatar

Me and my second emmendment say I don't have to take no meds.

😵‍💫

Ales Jones did "nothing wrong?" Ah, I see, Lahmeyer is a member of that well-known group PSFW (Pastors Supporting False Witness).
