Apologies for an OT so early in the day, but... I rather think everyone could use a bit of good news:

Pat Robertson has executed the career change we all wished he would've years ago. He's given up his position as a TV host, and taken up a 𝘯𝘦𝘸 position- just opened up, 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘀π˜ͺ𝘒𝘭 for him- as the host of a 𝙬𝙀𝙧𝙒 𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙦π™ͺπ™šπ™©.

Rot in pieces, you evil bastard.

The best and only answer to anyone upset about this is to remind the offended about the thousands of victims and hundreds of perpetrator priests in each diocese across the country. The media would do well to respond in interviewed with the offended about their silence over the crimes every time they open their mouths about LGBT people. Remind them that not only have the crimes been happening for centuries, they are continuing to this day and despite their claims that it’s a minority of priests, the whole institution works to aid and abet the criminal priests by covering up the crimes and moving the perps around. Stop tiptoeing around the predatory organization. So what if many people are Catholics, if they’re not willing to hold their religion (the source of their so called morality) to account for its abhorrent behavior, the rest of us will. Rightfully.

Billdo the Dildo calls the Sisters an "𝘢𝘯𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘰𝘬𝘦π˜₯ 𝘒𝘴𝘴𝘒𝘢𝘭𝘡 𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘒𝘡𝘩𝘰𝘭π˜ͺ𝘀𝘴."

I realize that history must not have been your strongest subject, Billdo, but your beloved Church's 𝘦𝘯𝘡π˜ͺ𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘀𝘬π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 𝘩π˜ͺ𝘴𝘡𝘰𝘳𝘺 is more than sufficient provocation. It'd be damn fine provocation for a 𝘸𝘒𝘳 against the Vatican (or, let's be honest here, several dozen of them). A little mockery directed at the penguin population is downright mild compared to the 𝘭𝘦𝘒𝘴𝘡 of what the RCC truly deserves.

The scariest thing to an Ultimate Being are guys dressed as clowns.

Seriously, any affront to a religion is perceived as an affront to the one who has taken offense. C'est-Γ -dire, if God is so offended, let her set things right.

Have you heard the Good News?

Pat Robertson, broadcaster who helped make religion central to GOP politics, dies at 93

At the end of the day, it comes down to people who have convinced themselves their religiosity entitles them to a say in other people's personal choices. There really isn't much of anything an outside group could do to damage the reputation of the Catholic church that would come anywhere close to what the church has done to itself. Bill Donohue is a pathetic old fool who has literally made a career out of being a professional victim.

--Newly announced presidential candidate Mike Pence claimed the Dodgers β€œshould be apologizing to Catholics across America.”--

Why don't Pence and all the other high-profile evangelicals apologize for labeling Catholics Satan-worshipers, "not true christians," and on and on, then?

I seem to recall something in the bible about "Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

The Catholic boosters whining about the Dodgers should reread this. While daily reports come of abusive priests, they point and rail at drag queens. If you compare the records of these two groups, the priests are definitely "winning." Their list is much, much longer! In fact, I don't believe there's even a list for drag queens!

More offended religious snowflakes coming to the rescue of a figment of the imagination.

Your Jesus told you to pluck out your eyes if you saw something that offended you, Christians. What are you waiting for? Start plucking. You really DO believe in Jesus and what he said, don't you?

Yeah. Thought so.

Personally, I think the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are a HOOT ... and the Catholic Church (and Bill Donohue in particular) are a bunch of persecution-minded snowflakes who can't deal with this brand of diversity. Mike Pence taking the side of the RCC only adds absurdity to the mix, as Pence has about as much mass appeal and associated persuasive power as could be put in a Lilliputian thimble.

Yeah, the Dodgers could have handled this better ... but the RCC and the Catholic League aren't really "handling" it at all, which is remarkably predictable.

The authorities still don't treat anti-LGBT violent threats like the terrorism it is. Though there don't seem to have been threats of violence, *yet*, in this particular case.

But priests weren't doing THAT!

I remember Jack Fertig "Sister Boom Boom" being interviewed when I lived in San Francisco in the 80s. When they were asked "why dress do you dress up as Catholic nuns?" Boom Boom replied: "Because, if we dressed up like Methodist ministers, who would notice?"At the time I was serving my first church while I attended seminary in Berkeley. the church happened to be the local Methodist Church in the City's Castro district (Market Street at 16th and Noe).

I was one those Methodist ministers he was talking about!
