The people who would break down the barriers between church and state make a point of ignoring the fact the U.S. Constitution does not give religion any role to play in governance, and specifically bans religious tests for holding public office. David Barton may as well be calling himself an astronaut rather than a historian. The religious right never stops trying to shoehorn their mythology into places it was never intended to fit in the first place. I can't imagine why any young person would want to remain in Oklahoma. My grand daughter and her now husband graduated from OU, they loved the university, but could not get out of that state fast enough once they were done with college.
Trouble is, there are far too many of these Nat-Cs running around who'd 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 what they read, if they ever actually cracked a bible open instead of bludgeoning everyone else bloody with it.
So, would a first grader be marked as wrong for accurately stating that the original purpose of the pledge was to sell flags to schools to mark the 400th anniverary of Columbus' first voyage? And that the meaning was the promotion of racism and xenophobia? And that the significance of the phrase "under God" was to promote McCarthyism? Would a teacher be fired for teaching that accurate history? It's Oklahoma. Walters would want to do the firing himself.
How was the Constitution influenced by religion? The framers decided religion should have no part. Morality? The basic societal norms of the day, with provisions to change the Constitution as societal norms changed. The Bible? Although some of them cited the Bible as a guide, many did not, and the Constitution reflects that. If the kid uses these (factually correct) answers, they would likely not be allowed to graduate.
These are just a few of the examples why Rev Dr Mitchell's statement, (𝐼𝑡’𝑠 𝑎 𝑝𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑟𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑦𝑡𝑖𝑧𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑚𝑦 𝑓𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑦 𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑖𝑛 𝑁𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝐴𝑚𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑏𝑜𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑜𝑙𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑂𝑘𝑙𝑎ℎ𝑜𝑚𝑎.) is accurate. Hopefully, the judges will see this, and rule appropriately. But it is Oklahoma.
He probably thinks that no religious test means that seminary exams aren't required, and that the Establishment Clause stops Congress from making one denomination the official Church of the United States.
Walters is a well enculted groupie of David Barton - who wants to impose 7 Mountains Dominionism on the whole State and Nation. Walters area of concentration is corrupting Education in Oklahoma. When you look at the other 6 'Mountains' - Family, Religion, Media, Arts and Entertainment, Business, and Government it is appalling how obviously it is designed to be a theofascist takeover of the minds and institutions of the whole Country. It is frankly Orwellian.

What kind of “History” are kids being taught. It took me almost my entire life to understand that the history I was taught was just whitewashed bullshit. The more I learn about the actual founding of our country, the more incensed I get.
"Funnily", we were taught that the American Civil War was about slavery, while learning next to nothing about our participation in slave trade, and how we pillaged our African colonies. Ooops.
We just had a sitting President...a married man...hit on a reporter at the White House on live TV, calling her beautiful. This despite the fact that he was told by his own press secretary NOT to do it.

It's starting in the state courts. The regime has nothing directly to do with placing sycophants on the bench. However, Governor Stitt is likely in goosestep, er, lockstep, with the Orange Menace.
I've said enough about the murder accessory Ryan Walters, so OT:
ERs suck. I was feeling a kind of floating sensation like being light headed, but I wasn't having trouble concentrating nor did I feel like I was going to pass out and a sinking hollow feeling in my chest and a mild pins and needles feeling in my left finger tips yesterday evening after work. When it didn't go away, I decided about 9, with my history of heart problems, I should get it checked and went to the ER. It took about 30 minutes before they did the EKG followed by a chest x-ray, that was about 10:30-11, the sent me to the icebox of a waiting room until 3 they took me back to a bay with just a recliner rather than a bed, after about 30 minutes they drew blood to check if my heart enzymes had changed since the earlier blood draw before the EKG. Then about 4:30 they moved me down the hall to a darkened room full of recliners and people and told me they wanted to wait for a cardiologist's opinion, he did a sonar check of my heart, and declared he didn't see any reason to keep me, this was about 6. They let me go about 6:30 this morning. All night just to send me home with no answers other than it wasn't a heart attack.
I have tubes draining my kidneys. I have ended up with sepsis a few times. I go to the VA ER at Jesse Brown. They draw 17,000 quarts of blood to diagnose, order a bed, and in a couple hours I am in a room. They start an antibiotic drip in theER. The first time I had sepsis was just 4-5 weeks before vaccines were released for Covid. I was positive for covid so I was put on the covid ward. I was admitted Sunday evening and released Wednesday afternoon. No covid, but a bottle of pills.
Kick only ? I would try one of my favorite cooking knives* on them if I lived there.

Ooooo, Seth Andrews as a character witness? Nah, probably never happen, but if he WERE to make a statement, he would very politely fry Walters on both sides!
These are the same people who keep screaming that schools are left-wing brainwashing centres (oh no! Facts! Won't somebody PLEASE protect our poor children from facts!). Of course, what they really mean by that is that it's not the *correct* kind of brainwashing. If it means forcing Christianity on kids, lies and hypocrisy are totally fine!
Bloody 'left wing' labelling is wearing thin as is the case with demonising socialism which slowly and thankfully is being seen by working people as way to attain decent living wages, affordable child and aged care, not to mention also a national health care system for all US citizens, mindful that that the money for such things is always there and those who say other wise are lying or stupid or both.
The irony of course is that big money and businesses are
the biggest recipients of 'socialism' in the form of government grants, tax breaks, financial concessions, deregulation, privatisation of public utilities and pubic services and assets.
And don't get me going also how unionism for workers has been intentionally demonised in the US while big money itself unionises in the form of federations, councils, guilds, industry lobbies, etc, etc.
It's fucking psychotic. They've got so many people convinced to the point of frothing hatred that things which are GOOD for them are the most evil thing ever. Like all you have to do is say "we should help the poor/sick/disabled/refugees" and they EXPLODE like you just suggested setting the puppy orphanage on fire.
It's one of most irrational things about aspects of US society and culture which is why it could be argued that "US capitalism' is such a unique and controlling beast.
It seems to me that the original American Dream with its creed of rugged individualism became warped into something ugly and cruel. People got too comfortable, too complacent, and it turned into a creed of nothing but pure selfishness.
I'd be happy to teach kids how biblical values really influenced America. Genocide and slavery. Curse of Cain.
I can also teach how the pledge is what Christians used to call blasphemy and taking God's name in vain and how Jesus specifically rejected temporal power in the gospels in the bible.
I can teach about the concept of antichrists and how they were authoritarian rulers who were cruel tyrants who did not care for the poor, help the sick, or welcome the stranger, were hypocrites who broke every moral of Jesus.
Maybe a little OT, but regarding all this "religion and flag fever in schools" hysteria, I recall a conversation in elementary school (second grade, I think?) with a friend who sat near me at the very back of the class and always positioned herself behind a large, hefty boy when it came time to recite the pledge, so the teacher couldn't see her not doing the hand over the heart thing and not saying the words. She said her religion regarded this as a form of idol-worship, in this case, flag-worship, like "praying to the flag."
*That* conversation made me think about how during the general assembly in vacation bible school, we always said three pledges - to the American flag, to the christian flag, and to the bible, and sing a short song after each one.
I started wondering about it, enough so that I forgot the "never ask questions" rule when I mentioned the gist of the conversation to my Sunday School teacher, looking for reassurance and an explanation as to how/why we weren't committing idolatry. All she said was "no it is NOT idolatry, and whoever told you that is a communist." I wanted clarification so I could be sure I wasn't accidentally committing idolatry, so I asked her what was the difference between pledging allegiance and flag worship. What I got was a non-answer about not listening to the devil when he tempts us. And of course all this was related to my mom, so that did not end well, but in looking back, I see how this girl picked up on the authoritarianism in that situation and understood without being told that if she did not hide her non-participation there would be serious social consequences. She didn't want to be seen as a freak. I still wondered about the flag thing, but having doubts and questions was like doubting the word of god, so I eventually dealt with this the way I dealt with all questions and contradictions - I refused to think about it and looked for distractions until it was largely forgotten.
Will you also teach skeptical thinking and to not believe anything without strong evidence? If you do, say good by to faith as a path to truth and Christianity.
Had an older brother and lived with hand me downs throughout my entire childhood and youth. Goodness, even had to use his old football boots.
Married now for 44yrs and for that period have also contended with second hand items and thing's such as the very small phone I'm using which was passed down to me by my darling wife who often says I need make do. Convince she has Dutch heritage rather than Greek.
But as one of the four Yorkshireman would say, luxury! 😕

I don’t care who said it, or if anyone said it. It’s true:

Nope. Not a drag queen. Not LGBTQ. Not atheist. Guess we know who the real groomer is. He's even made it clear himself.
He looks more like a used car salesman who is convinced he can put one over on some unsuspecting car buyer. He's about to learn otherwise.
People are going to kick his tires.

They should begin with Ezekiel 23:20 🤣
Then move onto the scripture concerning Lot and his two virgin daughters in the cave.
But...but...but... Lot was drunk when his daughters seduced him.
Sure, Jan.
Hmm. Inebriated, but still managed to achieve full erection, orgasm and ejaculation. Twice. And impregnates both successfully.
That story doesn't stretch credulity, it snaps it in half.
It just occurred to me that the girls were probably 11 or 12.

Why on earth would you buy a new suit? Everybody knows once you're raptured, your suit is left behind and you go up there nekkid
Not me. I’m a heathen. I’m staying for the after party.
