So are they gonna cover the dirty parts of the Bible such as Lot's daughters getting down with Daddy?

Expand full comment

And the 'righteous' Lot being 'too drunk' to recognize his own daughters (but not drunk enough he couldn't get it up). Especially when they were hiding in a cave above a plain in which everyone had just been killed in a 'godly' rain of fire and brimstone. So where did these 'strange women' come from and where were they the day in-between the two daughters?

There is a reason why the villagers called him lightweight Lot. 🥴

He obviously was pimping them out because he offered them to an angry crowd to placate them.

Or the lovers whose emissions were like horses?

My question is if the bible is to be taken literally, in the verse "whose genitals were like those of donkeys"? Do that mean that the men had penises as large as those of donkeys? Or does it mean that these men literally had donkey dicks. Dicks of donkeys attached to bodies of men? Kind of like a centaur, but just the important parts. Also, in the later, if they did have donkey dicks, did they have donkey balls as well, or were those human?

All excellent questions, that I would pay good money to watch you debate some rabid right-wing politician about!

What do you want to bet the phrase “immediate and strict compliance” hasn’t been used for any of the academic subjects? If shoving this down our throats was a successful strategy they wouldn’t be hemorrhaging members.

"...we're talking about the Bible, one of the most foundational documents used for the Constitution and the birth of our country."

There is no mention of the bible anywhere in the Constitution, you bible-waving ignoramus. Also missing is any mention of God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Christ, Christianity and Divine. The architect of the Constitution was a Deist who believed in church-state separation.

And another document that is also the law of the land (The Treaty of Tripoli) explicitly states that the government of the United States is, in no sense, founded on the Christian religion. It was passed unanimously without debate and signed into law by President John Adams. Another Deist. Seems you need an education far more than your state's schoolchildren.

OT : DM is watching a show about the consequences of dobbs, with the tearful testimonies of parents who have to face the devastating news of a miscarriage but also the refusal of hospitals to give them the much needed abortion unless the women are "sufficiently" sick.

Let us know if the TV survives.

It will, DM just changed channels, she couldn't hear about it anymore. Abortion was legalised when she was around 25.

It has long been my contention that here in the US, we've fundamentally failed to have the conversations that should have come before the abortion debate. Most notably, those discussions like the ramifications of sexual intercourse, pregnancy, and reproduction. These conversations have been pushed out of the public eye to the point that too many simply don't know enough to have a rational discussion about abortion. Quite a slice of that is, of course, directly attributable to the Christian refusal to discuss these matters, but that does not mean those conversations are optional. Mark my words: the US maternal morbidity and mortality rates have never been that great, and they will be getting worse as the impact of Dobbs spreads.

Once again demonstrating that Poor Babies isn't actually the point, and even God Wants It is a cover story.

Controlling women, and making them suffer when that control is less than perfect - that's the point.

Expand full comment

The news here is rife with stories of women faced with untoward pregnancies, sepsis, and mad searches to find SOMEONE who will treat them as they need, rather than to tell them, "Sorry, the state won't let us help you." Frankly, the whole circumstance makes me mad as hell.

I shudder to think how the women feel.

Sure. Why not use a book of 66 fairy tales written by 40 authors in three different languages on three different continents over 1600 years with some fables included and others eliminated from the different versions of the final product? I mean, after all, it does contain everything known by Iron Age goat herders who never traveled more than 100 miles from their homes or knew where the sun went at night! Yup… the epitome of all the sciences (e.g. burning bushes, talking snakes) and early history of mankind (e.g. Adam and Eve had two sons who begat the rest of the human race)! What more could you possibly ask of any collections of myths and made-up descriptions of loving but egotistical sky daddies who will kill you unless you constantly worship and praise them? Not a problem, and from the same state that gave us Anal Roberts University!

Iron was unknown to most of them. More like they were bronze age. Iron was for the super elite intelligentsia.

Okay, but hear me out... Rainbow Bibles.

If the Bible were to be forced into schools, some very creative people could take even the KJV and "queerify" the hell out of it. I'm talking rainbows on the cover. "Yas queen, fabulous" comments when "God places the rainbow in the sky". Portraits of David and Jonathan's "love to me was more wonderful than the love of women."

Trump already showed these people don't have a problem with someone co-oping the Bible. Loophole the shit out of their laws.
