Well shucks, I just know Our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Almighty, the God of Love and the Prince of Peace, will be pleased as punch to hear about this, just as soon as he slithers out of his tomb on Sunday morning.

It's fairly incredible that with all the mountains (Everests!) of evidence that have accumulated, there has still been no action taken against the Catholic Church nationally or internationally. Why have there been no RICO charges, or at least a thorough racketeering investigation, against the US Conference of Catholic Bishops? Why hasn't the UN Commission on Human Rights done an investigation? Or the International Criminal Court? But no, no, no, Holy Mother Church is just kept free to bop along its merry way, raping children and destroying their lives, then folding its hands and pretending to be all pious and holy and blessed and like that. And all the fuckwits in the pews just keep nodding and smiling and supporting it no matter how horrific its behavior. If anyone's aware of a more repugnant institution, please keep it to yourself, because I really don't want to know about it.

The systemic sexual abuse of children has been the church's dirty little secret for centuries. It only changed when law enforcement and the press began taking the victims seriously. Otherwise, the church circled the wagons and protected the priests, leaving the victims to fend for themselves.

The RCC, (Rape and Coverup Corporation) should be registered in its entirety as a sex offender.

Please explain again to me how belief in God is the only way for a person to have morality? Please explain again to me how parishioners giving money to an organization that repeatedly proves that it is utterly debased, corrupt, criminal, and rotten to the core are somehow NOT participating in the evil?

156 since the 1940s? Why do I get the feeling that number is too low?

We have documented 1000 years – that's the one followed by three zeros — of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. It's in Saint peter Damien, chaucer, and Boccaccio. I have seen evidence, which unfortunately I did not retain, that goes back another six or 700 years before that.

The only man in a dress the children need fear is the one wearing a cassock.

Once again, we have priests sexually abusing minor children, the superiors of those priests shuffling them around to avoid prosecution, and civil authorities reluctant to press charges, at least up until now with this announcement by AG Anthony Brown.

My question here is simplicity itself: WHAT WILL COME OF THIS? Can we expect a further investigation of the dioceses involved, search warrants issued and executed on church property, interrogations of church officials under perhaps less than convivial circumstances, and most of all, WILL THERE BE CHARGES FILED?

I am sick and tired of hearing headlines like this and NOTHING COMING OF THEM. I want Catholic bishop and archbishop and cardinal asses brought before the bar of Maryland justice, I want to see them tried, convicted, and imprisoned. I want the message sent to Vatican City that the kid gloves have come OFF, that the light at the end of the tunnel IS in fact an oncoming train, and that they are indeed in very deep trouble.

I want the Church to be afraid ... in the same manner that they have made those who they have assaulted afraid.

Is there any other organization which has done as much harm, to as many people, over so many centuries as the Roman Catholic Church has? I struggle to think of one. That even after all this time they still haven't exhausted their appetite for monstrosity, and that they continue to deliberately elevate the worst of the worst to positions of great power over the innocent and vulnerable is, in its own horrific way, more than a little bit amazing.

Well, it's a good start. Hopefully. What would be nice is to see it made illegal for diocese to declare bankruptcy and make the mother church foot the bill. Without hitting them in their main wallet there isn't going to be serious change.

That ANY Catholic parishioner still gives their money to these monsters simply makes them enablers of abuse.

Bet we STILL won't see a mass exodus from the walls of Unholy Mother Church even after this report. The pious seem to have an unending need to be lied to.

Bankrupting these dioceses doesn’t stop the problem. It’s nice to see them suffer, but it only keeps the victims from any sort of compensation and the church still goes on. The folks in charge continue their shuck and jive and the Vatican is untarnished.

The bankruptcy court should be allowed to refuse the protection and force the church to pay its debts to the victims. If regular folks must pay their student loans even after filing bankruptcy, the richest fucking church in the world should have to cough up for its crimes.

Even more so, shut the whole fucking thing down. Close them all, throw everyone involved in prison, if they didn’t do it, they aided and abetted it. Require them to act like adult entertainment venues and make it illegal for minors to enter even with parental consent. The RCC does more damage to children than strip clubs, casinos and bars combined.

Ah'm bahk! Five hours driving looking mostly at grass and trees. Cows and sheep with the occasional horse for a change. Just wondering what happened to that attorney general election everyone was talking about the other day – did she win? I've forgotten all about it in the delirium of being a tourist. 😎

I question the phrase, "If you’re a Baltimore native who still attends or supports the Catholic Church with your time or money,...". Why only "If you’re a Baltimore native"? This is not just occurring in Baltimore. Shouldn't it read, "If you still attend or supports the Catholic Church with your time or money,...".

"Treatment Center", if they've found an effective treatment for pedophilia/ephebophilia, they should really share it with the mental health profession, because despite its scientific research into the problem it hasn't found an even moderately effective treatment.

Coincidentally the Catholic bishop who oversees the Maryland diocese released his own report today. It's much more succinct: "Nothing to see here. Move along."
