Never let anyone try to tell you Christian privilege and entitlement isn't a real thing. It absolutely is. Shame on Indiana for allowing this. It is NEVER the job of our secular government to backstop anybody's religion. Mixing religion and government is the same terrible idea it has always been.

Expand full comment

Isn't Indiana the state who had mikro pencis for governor ?

Expand full comment

Yes. Both as governor and as a member of Congress. His approval ratings as governor were in the toilet when Trump rescued him. I find Pence especially repugnant. He is a full on religious nut case who gave lap-dog loyalty to the most grotesquely immoral President in our history.

Expand full comment

Now he's on tour explaining at EVERY STOP how he did not have the authority to overturn the election. He is completely unelectable. He has no support from even the far right Maga Christians.

Expand full comment

Pence did the right thing on January 6th, but not before exploring all his other options. When the direction of the wind became clear, he threw in with the winning side. No one should ever call him a hero, because that's the last thing he is.

Expand full comment

I'm not calling him a hero. I believe he 'did the right thing' because he knew that overturning the election would have very serious consequences for him. I don't think he's a stupid person, I think he's a calculating person who was put in an untenable situation. I think it's amusing that he is now trying to justify his actions on Jan 6th to a crowd of people who are incapable of listening to reason. He possibly could pick up a few votes from people who do think he's a hero but I doubt many of them will vote in the Republican primary.

So well and so accurately put.

"No support from the far right"? Well-a well done prayer or two may just save the day for the turd.

I'm sure SCOTUS will say that Satanic rallies are different because, "Fuck you."

Expand full comment

Aw now, we can do better than that. SCOTUS will claim the Satanic rallies are different because they're not loyal to the Jesus money making machine and won't share any of their money with Thomas and Alito.

One does wonder what it will take for this court to wind up being tossed out on its proverbial ear, along with the insane number of precedent overturning decisions it's made.

I don't know why I watched that video because those people scare me. They really do seem to believe they are being moved by the Lord. I just do not get the mass hysteria on view there. Maybe I'm jealous that I was never moved like that or maybe I wonder how come these people never grew up and experienced logical thought. Regardless, I am really feeling an us vs. them mentality and I know at least some of those people voted for Biden.

Expand full comment

They scare me because they're one charismatic leader away from turning into a violent lynch mob... like many of their ancestors.

Maybe some of that Ron Desantis charm huh? :-)

Don't be jealous. Those are not people you want to emulate. Critical thinkers are almost always on the outside looking in, and that's actually a good place to be.

Exactly. As far away from the mass insanity as you can get.

So, what they’re saying is that being a Satanist is illegal? That’s funny because TST is a recognized religion according to law. Or, their message is political while the Christian Nationalists’ message is not?

How do they square this type of statement with protests at the capital? They must allow protests by law, laid out by the constitution. Literally, this part of the policy is completely, flatly unconstitutional.

Feucht’s church is unAmerican and, at least, fosters terrorism against the American people. But it’s okay cause Jesus.

Go get ‘em TST.

Read the article title and thought: Can atheists start yelling PERSECUTION! now? Loudly and endlessly? It's atheists that can be truly classed as persecuted, both at home and abroad.

Expand full comment

I have no interest in crying, "Persecution." I DO, on the other hand, have a considerable desire to positively scream, "UNEQUAL TREATMENT!" These jackasses who revel in their privilege deserve to be taken down multiple pegs. The damned problem is that those in the Justice Department are mostly just as Christian as they are and probably don't deal well with the term, "Satanist."

They need to get over that, and we need to INSIST that they get over that.

I mentioned yelling PERSECUTION! just to piss off the cristers, telling them: "You see how you sound? How's it taste, eh?"

Their cognitive dissonance is so strong that it wouldn't even register to them that you are trying to show them a mirror.

We had some really bad hail for a few summers a couple years ago. One year we were able to get an new roof and new siding. The first time, the siding was about 3/4 done when we got another storm and they had to go back and replace some of the siding they had just put up as well as some work on what was uncovered when the storm hit. I think we ended up replacing the roof again 2 years later after another storm, but the siding held up.

I didn't notice any hail during the storm but the insurance guy noticed some hail damage and checked the weather reports which indicated some hail that day. If it had been only wind damage they would only pay for a patch job. Yea, hail, or should I say Hail, hail!

She looks so pleased. l A man of God is touching her. How exciting. Just today on my nextdoor neighborhood website a woman posted her most favorite bible verse. Ugg, I signed up for Nextdoor because my mother suggested it. I immediately started to get notifications of all sorts of inane crap, including the Jesus stuff. I shouldn't have been surprised as we live in a community with 5 Mormon churches within 5 miles of us and a regional temple about 12 miles away. I deleted if after I started to get notifications of a 'suspicious person' in the neighborhood. From the pictures they posted I can only assume he was suspicious because he was Hispanic.

Christian Privilege. It couldn't be more obvious if it were the headline in 72-point type on every newspaper in the Hoosier State. Christians get the elevator to the penthouse. Satanists get the shaft. Cliched as hell, but true.
