"...despicable, blasphemous and offensive sacrilege to not only Catholics, but all people of goodwill...
Thou hypocrite. Let's talk about Holy Mother Church and the despicable, offensive and outright cruel things she's inflicted on humankind since 380 CE and continue to inflict on people to this very day.
Atheists are people of goodwill. Our no-strings-attached charities (unlike Christian charities that are about proselytizing first and foremost) are evidence of this. Wonder if this guy even looks at atheist charities? I'm thinking not. He probably sees atheists as competitors.
He's been taught that atheists are enemies and devil worshippers. Some even claim there's a "Satanic Bible." People like him have no problem with violence against atheists and even think they're doing their deity's work. (I've never understood why an all-powerful being needs mere humans to do its work, but whatever).
I never could stand that show. I had friends who were into it, but I couldn't see the attraction. The "stars" all looked gross and disgusting, like they needed a good scrubbing with Lysol and a boar bristle brush.
Their "knowledge" about Satanists comes from a steady diet of movies and television dramas, which they think are documentaries, with a side of comic books. The "Satanic Panic" of the 80's and 90's confirms that they were right all along. This was a "real struggle" wherein they temporarily beat back the enemy, but "unchurched non-believers and god-deniers prevented them from total success." * But that was okay, cuz they would defeat the devil for real in the Battle of Armageddon, blather, blather, blather. That'll show 'em.
That was back in the day. Now they have the internet and loony toon rightwing conspiracy mongers to keep them in line and on the offensive, ever alert for demonic incursions.
* from a sermon, back in the very early 90's, if IIRC.
Being an atheist says nothing about whether someone is a person of goodwill. Ditto for when someone says they're a Christian. You have to look at their actions not their words. There was a lack of goodwill in abundance today in Kansas on the part of Christians. Using force to try to shut up atheists is unfortunately embedded in the history of Christianity. I don't agree with the physical violence but the Christians in this situation were the aggressors.
Thank you David. It shows that you are a decent man as I’ve always said.
And I’m glad you admitted that they are Christians. One of the most irritating things a certain class of so-called Christians likes to do when their ilk is caught with theirDicks out at the playground is claim “They’re not real Christians.”
Unfortunately, DG didn't understand what I said. When I stated that "Atheists are people of goodwill." I wasn't making a blanket statement. I wasn't saying that all atheists are people of goodwill. Goodness knows we have our share of bad seeds which we are the first to condemn and not try to apologize for, unlike a great many Christians (though not all) do with their own, as FA has amply demonstrated.
I said that atheists are people of goodwill and gave a specific example of atheist charities, which DG brushed aside/ignored.
In the end, I think that only God truly knows whether someone is a Christian. I suspect that many will sadly hear the words from Jesus that "I never knew you". If you hate others then John's letters warn us that it's likely that you don't love God either. Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it.
Why, the Almighty Hisself. Krishchuns always get their marching orders directly from Gawd. "Onward Christian Soldiers," "I'm in the Lord's Army-y-y-y-y," and all that rubbish.
Witch hunts, inquisitions, amass murder of Cathars. SECRET baptism of jewish babies. Mass murders mass destruction of Jewish homes, and support for not sees in WWII. Hitler is said to have been doing god's work in exterminating Jews. The Mormons did not invetn posthumous, secret baptism. The kkkatliks have several centuries of these under their belts.

Almost as if they once owned the Earth and were forcibly disinherited of it by all those mean ole heathens. But that's okay, cuz they'll get their just desserts at The Great White Throne Judgement.
(In Bea Arthor's voice) "God'll getcha for that, heathen."
This Catholic asshole thinks freedom of speech and freedom of religion only apply to "approved" religions, basically Christians. If blasphemy can be prohibited, as this joker wants, there is no freedom of speech or religion.
OMNIeverything god has shown us its total inability to control us. Now they want to their insane ideas of dictatorship under THEIR god protected from criticism byt laws. Rest assured they will claim the right to criticize and harass anyone they disagree with. THAT is how theocracies and dictatorships work
That Catholic might be pretending for now that any version of Christian is acceptable, but to my knowledge, Catholics only have any respect for other Catholics. Everyone else is wrong, even if they're some other flavor of Christian; and as soon as they're in power again they'll be happy to disabuse the public of the idea that anything but Catholic is okay.
I haven’t seen it personally, but I’ve been told several times there’s over 40,000 different versions of Christianity. They all have a different idea about one thing or another, and thus they would never be able to come to any kind of a decorum and effective governance, we watched what happened the first time they had control and we call it the Dark Ages for a reason.
Freedom is always (!) the freedom of other to do/say things you don't like!
Or let me rephrase it - the rights/freedoms which give you the rights to celebrate your mass is the same right/freedom which gives other people to celebrate their (black) mass.
But the understanding of the sentence above requires the acceptance that others (!) have got the same rights as yourself. And if you are used to having privileges, this might be a bitter pill to swallow.
So a fundie 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘧𝘦𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘵 got his gesicht punched in, did he? Sounds like a textbook case of FAFO, to me.
No, I don't particularly care that 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 getting violent might bother some folks' sensibilities. It's not as though the Christians on the scene, or anywhere else, would have any higher an opinion of the Satanists if they'd taken the proverbial high road and 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘬, now is it? They'd be screaming just as loud no matter what the outcome was, and we all know it.
These fucking Nazis have pushed things too far already; they own just about everything, they control the government, and they're wrecking everyone else's shit up down and sideways every chance they get. If the rest of us teach them that they can also lash out 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 and not eat knuckles in reply, then sooner or later- probably sooner- we're gonna be facing lynch mobs. So... fuck the godbot; he got what he deserved. Fuck the state government, too, for wanking out a last-minute double-standard because they didn't want to have to share 𝘱𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘺 with, y'know, members of the fucking public, 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 they'd already gone through all the proper channels to secure permission to hold a demonstration inside the building.
Sometimes throwing hands is an appropriate reaction; the line has to be drawn somewhere. Let the fuckers taste their own blood, now and again, and perhaps they'll be a little less eager to spill someone else's down the road a ways.
Xtians, like any other playground bully, hate it when their intended victims refuse to be cowed and will deliver what Shakespeare called "measure for measure."
Honestly, I suspect this was going to be a problematic event at best, considering particularly the attitude of the local Catholic Church. In addition, Stewart's going into the capital did not help matters, and that probably wasn't the world's best move.
All that said, the fact remains that Stewart's free speech rights were not respected in this instance, and that should be the focus of any future pending action.
