I also find the "What purpose in life do you have without God?" an empty question.

My purpose is to make the world a better place for those coming after me.

What more do you need?

Except what it is to you is uttlerly irrlevant, she says the same about you.

And you of course skip the Truth part because whatever you do is by defnitiion right.

I've lived long enough to have been greatly hurt by people like you convinced they know what makes the world better.

Define "better". See.s impossible to define absent a transcendent anchor of values.

Funny memes, but hardly address the point. The incompatibility of value judgments and scientific materialism is thoroughly argued by seasoned philosophers in peer reviewed journals at the finest institutions. I reckon that this sort of sophomoric attitude is what led her to reconsider. Ditto to the entire new atheist movement.

You came with an unoriginal thought to troll on an atheist site. You aren't interested in an actual conversation. Your mind is made up, that was obvious from your first post. Now dinner's getting cold, so get your last word in and go back under your bridge.

LOL, a transcendent anchor of values? There's nothing transcendent when your god hates all the same people you do.

Lol. I'm sure the atheists who are part of the peer-reviewed journal responded as such. Not.

There's that lie again: Judeo-Christian tradition. Outside of Christianity, there's no such animal. Any rabbi will set her straight on that notion.

And being 'woke' is destroying the moral fiber? Projection. It's her newfound Christianity that destroys moral fiber. We see it every day at FA. The weight of evidence crushes her false assertions.

TBF, I'm not sure how often I'm swayed by the *actual* evidence as I lack the in-depth knowledge to understand it. I have to trust the experts. Like climate change. I can see the extreme weather, but lack the in-depth knowledge for the proof that the climate is changing and that humanity's activities are causing it. But I trust the people who do have the in-depth knowledge to know what they're talking about

She "escaped" the pot only to fall into the fire. The misguided notion that Western Civilization is Christianity or judeo-christian ideals is laughable. Western Civilization is the manifestation of the Enlightenment, which is decidedly not oriented towards a god or even atheism but towards a closer understanding of what is true without dogmatic belief in the unproved, unknowable, and tolerant of those things, whatever their source. Western Civilization should be seen as a process, a journey, a quest. A quest for fucking fun.

Where's the Tylenol.

As near as I can tell, being 'woke' is when a person exhibits signs of human decency, and dares to deviate from the approved Republican talking points. The religious right in the United States tends to view human decency as a character flaw, while demanding loyalty to their hard-right politics. She doesn't seem to have much of a grasp of history. Trying to sort out who was, or was not, a TRUE Christian has spilled enough blood to float the Navy.

Ali simply traded one delusion (Islam) for another (Christianity).

She blames Putin/Russia as a great threat to the West? Maybe she should look into his/their religious beliefs. The dominant religion is the Russian Orthodox Church. You know...Christian, like her. It is Christian Nationalism in this country that is a great threat.

She's just like those Christians who say they are atheist because they "hate God". Nope you are not atheist, you don't understand the term. Of course, it's pretty clear Ali doesn't understand Christianity either. What she understands is this Maga-Christian we have here in the US. "Maga" becoming an antonym prefix. "Make America Great Again" is doing the opposite of that. Maga-Christian stands for the opposite of the Christianity I grew up with. This whole anti-woke agenda thing is just bigots who have felt they've been in the closet far too long. Now for an ex-Muslim to come out with an anti-woke driving force? That is some next level self-hatred right there. That is almost on par with Clarence Thomas.

Let's see what she flops to with her next book, shall we?

The Christian right wing movement is developing more commonalities with the Islamic Jihad movements than not. Perhaps Ayann Hirsi Ali yearns to be dominated by a religion again.

Simples really, she finally realised that her far right grift (which she's been pushing since the early 2000's) does not fly amongst the non-religious. And she's also realised that to keep the crowd she's flying with, she's going to have to at least nominally become one of them.

PS Hirsi Ali lied about most of her past when claiming asylum in the Netherlands, she had been living as a member of the upper class in Kenya before coming to Europe, and nothing she claimed had happened to her.

Just got an electrician to run a LAN cable under the house from the modem thingy to my computer. I now have consistent decent Internet speeds. It was varying wildly before from about 28 to about 200 whatever thingies they measure it in. Now it's 900+ I'm happy. Also happy that the electrician found one of the switches in our outside board thingy was burning out and outright dangerous. I rang the company that installed it and they are gonna pay for these guys replacing which they just did. I'm even happier now my house isn't going to burn down at some random time.
