So you're also not okay with people eating pork or shellfish or cutting their hair or tattoos or wearing poly-cotton blends, et cetera, et cetera. Merde alors, what a load of horse manure.

I've never heard the King's Singers live, but their recordings are positively amazing for the enormous and varied span of their repertoire and the artful precision of their performances. That some Christian college would prefer to get bent out of shape about one member's sexual orientation speaks far more to that college's bigotry and narrow-mindedness than anything else.

The other really sad thing is that the students of Pensacola Christian College lost out in not being able to enjoy the King's Singers' performance. That they were robbed of that opportunity ticks me off very nearly as much as the stupidity of Pensacola Christian College's cancelling of the event.

Anyone else wondering about the student who "sounded the alarm"? He seemed a little freaked out. Worried about temptation, seeing a happy gay man in the flesh? Instead of the frightened, miserable gay men he meets on campus.

It sounds like what they are afraid of is their ticket money being used by him to eat, rent an apartment, etc. Because, y'know, if every Christian embargoed this gay person's performances forcing him into starvation and poverty, then he'd TOTALLY see the light, want to date girls and decide Christianity was the choice for him.

Or something. The saddest part of that nonsense being, the performers probably get pennies on the dollar out of the ticket price.

Speaking of that...hey PCC folks, have you ever thought about the fact that your money is actually mostly going to "support and condone" the gay men and women working for ticketmaster? The gay agents. The gay roadies. And, oh delicious irony, your money is "supporting and condoning their lifestyle" even when the artist/show you brought in is straight.

For a religion that claims to have an awesome god that is supposed to be their rock, strength and shield, Christians keep revealing themselves to be panicky little snowflakes over something that has no effect on their lives whatsoever.

Perhaps these scaredycats are secretly afraid of their own...urges. Who knew that gay people have more power over Christians than their own god?

Well in Matthew 19 Jesus says that everyone should be celibate, love their neighbor as themselves, and give away all their money. So, just another day in fundie hypocrisyville. As Bierce said, Christians are defined as people who think the Gospel's moral strictures are admirably suited for their neighbors.

founding

Modern American Christianity: Love thy neighbor, 0%. Fear and hate gays, 100%.

From the King's Singers statement: "Our belief is that music can build a common language that allows people with different views and perspectives to come together."

But coming together with people of different views is EXACTLY what Christian fundies want to AVOID. They want their bubble to be pure, a blissful refuge of perfect conformity, cookie-cutter humanity.

Lots of luck dealing with the REAL WORLD after you graduate, kids. I'm sure that besides this issue, there are plenty of other things that you have been taught that will collide head-on with reality.
