Supposedly podcasting has exploded during the pandemic, so Hemant's voice (ditto Seth Andrews) must be streaming on lots of devices as I type this. Hopefully advertising dollars will follow. I admire anyone who can monetize the atheist community and make a living doing it.
I'm not sure how I feel about podcasts in general. Sure, if I was a commuter stuck in traffic or spending time hanging at the gym, it might be useful to listen to....but the pandemic has made both scenarios less appealing to many of us as more people work from home or want to avoid the gym because of covid concerns. Things are a' changin' thanks to the pandemic...
If I can read FA content , that is preferable to me than having a podcast running in the background or on my headphones. I suppose some folks will want to blast FA content on the TV or headphones as they cook/eat, lounge, go jogging and do chores, but I like my home being a quiet refuge and almost never turn on the TV.
I enjoy both. I like to read at my leisure, and comment as one does in such circumstances. But I also like to have things to listen to while doing tasks or hobbies that require visual focus (cooking, woodworking, electronics, etc.). Sometimes NPR/IPR fits the bill, sometimes it's Pandora, sometimes podcasts. It's nice to have options.
