Just a quick note here before I have to dash. I'm pleased to know that the FFRF and American Atheists have resolved this issue. There's enough infighting among theists as it is, and we don't need nonbelievers adding to the confusion, never mind dividing our forces.
It looks to me like there never was any actual infighting. They both needed a position to argue about to get it in front of a judge to so it could be handled professionally.
A federal judge, who was placed on the bench during Cheetolini's first term, ruled that the President can't in fact turn away journalists because they refuse to go along with his petty acts of performative nationalism, and ordered the administration to restore the AP's access to the White House press pool. Safe money says the toddler-in-chief replies "nuh-uh!" and appeals the ruling, but for now it's more ketchup stains on the walls for the poor cleaning staff at the White House.
OT: I was messing around with Copilot (my OS AI) and accidently got a summary of today's FA article. The last paragraph was this:
"A Rich, Playful Community Culture: Beyond the serious legal issues, the comment thread is a lively mix of humor, wit, and intellectual banter. Many participants play with language and even use puns involving periodic table elements (a nod to topics like “401K” and “Special K”) to lighten the mood. This blend of thoughtful critique and playful repartee reflects the unique character of the community behind the website."
I went to the last Coyne article and got this : "The overall tone of the discussion supports the dignity and rights of transgender people while challenging anti-trans rhetoric."
A Will in Texas does not have to be notarized, nor is that sufficient to make it legal. Handwritten wills are legal as is, but a typed will needs the signatures of two parties that do not stand to benefit from the will.
Personally, a rational system in my mind is typed or handwritten, signing in the presence of an uninvolved notary should be all that is required. Notarization is not usually expensive. (I have no idea who to get to witness my will, though I'm not sure I want to write one right now since I hope to leave Texas, if not the U.S., this year.)
My other half has been very patient with me screaming "Oh yes it is!" every time someone on the news says 'but this isn't what I voted for'. I hesitate to call it therapy, but I can't claim I don't feel a little better afterward.
Did you see the moves MTG made? Touting the tariffs and how great they are while yanking her money out of the stock market because she knew the market would tank because of those tariffs, then putting her money in T bills and other less risky ventures
Apparently, Dem representatives believe that the Tarrif pause was deliberate to manipulate the stock market and that Trump and his friends engaged in insider trading. They are calling for an investigation.
…. Handelsblatt reported: “Brussels is watching amazed, as Trump destroys the US economy. One EU official: "Nobody in the Commission thought that the US government would be this stupid and self-destructive - that they would blow up their own country by letting ChatGPT make their trade policy."
"Yes, Europe is absolutely real! It is one of the seven continents, located mostly in the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres. Europe is known for its rich history, diverse cultures, iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Colosseum, and breathtaking landscapes from the Alps to the Mediterranean coasts. It's also home to over 700 million people across 44 countries!"

Honestly, I'm surprised it took this long for Europe and the rest of the world to see they can't trust the USA to be an equal partner. The writing has been on the wall since St. Reagan was elected. Yes, we had Clinton and Obama, but it was clear that a large portion on the Republican party base was getting more and more radical. When Trump won the first time, that was the big, screaming, blinking red neon sign that the US lost their marbles. I had hoped that the rest of the world would start building new trade and political alliances, working around the US until we either completely imploses or regained our sanity.
Honestly, I was really hoping that Germany would pick up the mantle of "Leader Of The Free World" (I really liked Angela Merkle), but now France is positioning themselves to be next.
… Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) did a media tour blasting Trump's tariffs: "I can't support a fallacy that is going to make us lose our wealth. I have a retirement account too and I think tariffs is going to decimate it. The whole debate is so fundamentally backwards and upside down. It's based on a fallacy, and the fallacy is this: that somehow in a trade, someone must lose. That somehow when you trade with someone, someone is taking advantage of you. 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘦."
Looks like just a case of two large organizations fighting the good fight and wanting the right thing to be done by a deceased donor, and the executor being in a bit over his head on how to acconplish it. Glad it was settled amicably.
Well, this could have been avoided if they had just listen to MAGA influencer and truly amazing person Benny "Buddha" Johnson -- "Losing money costs you absolutely nothing."
Apparently MTG sold off stocks before this all went pear-shaped. So she'll make money. As well a lot of billionaires who are buying up stocks cheap now. In so far as Trump and company have a policy, I suspect that this is part of it at least.
Like they even care about girl's soccer. One, soccer is not that popular a sport in the U.S. At best it ranks 4th. Two, the only reason anyone has heard about the U.S. Women's Soccer Team is because the Men's Team sucks.
It may be temporary now, but other outcomes- particularly with regards to Chump invoking the Alien Enemies Act, which shouldn't even be possible without a declared state of war- lead me to suspect they're going to rubber-stamp this one too in the end.

Good news all around.

Who is the threat again?
Imagine the number of closeted pedophiles lining up for THAT job.
Sadly, it doesn't take much imagination at all.
Well, it is the Republican party. Consent is a foreign concept and we know how they feel about foreigners.
And it does seem like scratch a Pedophile, and there's a good chance you'll find a Republican.
OT- Chump gets told off by one of his own appointees, again: https://apnews.com/article/trump-ap-media-court-white-house-events-access-f346a0efe87c1dec4d6f90e6041abd09

Money, so it's said

A BIG thumbs up for the Pink Floyd reference! 👍

No mention of our lovely dessert offerings? Nothing of cake, pudding, pie, fudge, etc?
Oh well, it is a fairly new offering, and we haven't really marketed it yet.
I went to the last Coyne article and got this : "The overall tone of the discussion supports the dignity and rights of transgender people while challenging anti-trans rhetoric."
No mention of desserts.
Ask Copilot about dessert, maybe it just needs some encouragement.

trumpsky went from lowering eggs prices to lowering 401k values pretty quick.
Now egg prices are at record highs and your 401K at record lows.
Are MAGAts tired of “winning” yet?

As I read it (from the NY Times), the block is temporary. From the article:
