The Preacher Who Can't Handle Starbucks Cups is Starting a Church
Every sermon will be turned up to 11.
The evangelical preacher who brought us viral hits, such as hating on Starbucks holiday cups and losing his mind over rainbow french fry boxes, Joshua Feuerstein, is capitalizing on his internet fame by opening a church for Christian Nationalists. The aptly named “America’s Church” will be a place where patriotism is synonymous with faith, and women will silently smile and nod in agreement to anything men say, as demonstrated by Feuerstein’s wife in the video he posted on her Facebook page (because he was banned from the platform).
Actor Kevin Sorbo, who crucified his career for Jesus by starring in the surprise Christian hit God’s Not Dead, is working on a new film, again, for Jesus. Against the Tide: Finding God in an Age of Science is out to prove science points toward God’s existence. Ironically, the film’s producers are disregarding the science of virology by releasing it in theaters during a deadly pandemic.
Just when you think our nation has reached the ceiling of vitriol and division, there’s another conservative broadcaster emboldened to push it another inch. This time from MAGA talk show host Josh Bernstein, who is calling for the execution of Muslim Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, because gullible Bernstein fell for a faux-sting operation staged to appear as ballot harvesting.
“… And of course, they are led by the number one terrorist in the United States of America, the one that was selected through massive voter fraud to be a member of the House of Representatives. Of course, I am talking to the notorious towel-headed America-and Jew-hater, Ilhan [Omar].”
“She is a worthless pile of sh*t. OK?”
“That’s right — this b*tch should be executed. There it is. I said it once again.”
Even if it were true, there is no crime he’s imagining here that could possibly justify calling for one’s execution. If Bernstein were of any other religion and his hate-speech were directed at a Christian congressman, he would be on a Homeland Security watchlist at minimum.
An “unapologetically conservative” candidate for the Missouri House of Representatives, who’s also an ordained pastor and part-time chaplain, is being accused of sexual and physical abuse by his four children. He denied the accusations on his Facebook page while pushing forward with his campaign.
When four (FOUR!) of your own children and your ex-wife corroborate that you’re not fit to be a father, it should be clear to voters you’re not fit to be a lawmaker.
Finally, a conservative agrees Amy Coney Barrett should not be our next Supreme Court justice!… But only because he thinks she should be home raising kids and cooking food. Jesse Lee Peterson, clearly prone to emasculation by educated women, laid out his revolting opinion on his right-wing radio show:
Raging misogynist Jesse Lee Peterson says Trump will regret nominating Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court because "she's no different than a liberal feminist" since she refuses to stay home and raise her husband's children.Yikes. While I’d like to think Peterson’s misogyny is so damn archaic, he could never start a movement, I also never believed I’d see the president calling white supremacists to action during a live debate.
An intern at a megachurch accidentally tweeted criticism of Trump from the church’s Twitter account last night. It was quickly deleted and the church issued a rather interesting apology:
"We're sorry we said something sensible. We won't let it happen again."Earlier today a staff member accidentally posted on this account personal comments about the US presidential debate, that were meant for a personal account. Hillsong does not comment on partisan politics & apologizes. These comments do not represent the views of Hillsong Church.Hillsong Church @Hillsong
Speaking of which, of all the things that I would call Trump after last night’s debate, “a blessing for America” didn’t make my list. Maybe that’s because I’m not Christian writer Eddie Hyatt of Charisma News, who used those words while likening the president’s temperament to that of John the Baptist, a biblical figure who called out corruption and warned of the wrath of God.
Back in 2016 Hyatt said he didn’t care much for Trump’s “overly brash, bombastic and rude” attitude, but it seems four years later, his moral standards have tanked. Unlike the majority of Christians we hear from who agree with Trump’s policies while turning a blind eye to his foul mouth, Hyatt is specifically co-signing the feces-flinging temperament as being “just what was needed” for our country.Donald Trump’s behavior is being interpreted quite different for others; like Holocaust experts at The Anne Frank House, who find his tactics reminiscent of late 1930s Hitler.
Congratulations to the Secular Coalition for Arizona for winning the “Best Activist Group” award from the Phoenix New Times!
The Ex-Muslims of North America have created a new tool called the “Persecution Tracker,” which maps out “accounts of hate and violence motivated by Islamic intolerance.”
“Too often, the humanity of the victims of religious intolerance are lost among statistics. Our focus, therefore, is highly personal,” said Sarah Haider, Executive Director of Ex-Muslims of North America. “With this project, we will give detailed accounts of each case to ensure that their suffering will not be forgotten and their heroism will not be in vain.”
The group hopes to get more countries to eliminate blasphemy laws by drawing attention to how barbaric the response can be to the victimless act of opposing a religious ideology. If you have the emotional capacity for it, you can view the database here.
The immortal Pat Robertson foresees a period of four or five years of “paradise” in our near future, signaled by last weekend’s prayer rally and Trump’s pro-life Supreme Court nominee. According to Robertson, this “paradise” will have the devil bound and commie-influenced groups like ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter will be put to an end. That time frame seems awfully similar to a single presidential term, making Robertson a little too confident Trump will win. And if he loses, will Robertson accept Biden’s presidency is this God-willing paradise he’s so certain is coming?
The Humanists for Biden group will have a live launch event Thursday evening! Congressman Jared Huffman will be there. So will The Flaming Lips! I assume there’s a cagematch involved. You can register for the free event here.
