This is what they have been doing ever since the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic church hit the big time. Deflect and deny and project. “If your religious morality leads you to parse the ages of underage victims in an effort to defend alleged predators, you’ve taken a wrong turn somewhere in life.” well, yes. Even given the multiple motivations underlying their desire to do this, it’s wrong. They’re not trying to defend the allege predators. They are trying to slime gay people with what their actual predators do. But then, this is what they’ve always done.
Here is the real question: why is a man who molest girls called a child molester or a sexual abuser, but not called a HETEROSEXUAL? and why is a man who molest boys is called a homosexual, but not called simply a child molester? Because that doesn’t fit in with their actual narrative.
The priests who are molesting kids are not calling themselves child molesters, they are invariably calling themselves heterosexual but celibate. The protestant youth pastors whom molest kids are not calling themselves anything but heterosexual. For decades, the Boy Scouts had a child abuse problem. They tried to blame that on gay men, but neither gay men nor gay scouts were allowed into the Boy Scouts. I worked for them 50 years ago, and the homophobia was palpable. But it wasn’t gay men who were doing the molesting. It was men who were known as heterosexual to the scouts, their communities, their churches, their families, and their wives.

Of course the real reason it’s so many boys that are getting molested by priests is found in one simple word: ACCESS. They have greater access to boys than girls. They’re trying to shift the blame to an innocent group of people.
Some of these child molesters may be same sex attracted. Some might even be termed homosexual within the usual meaning of the word. Not one would be considered gay in the usual meaning of the word. I just want to say that the time I’ve spent at Christian Post the last 6 months or something has shown me that this behavior is endemic on the Christian right. I find it difficult to have a conversation because they are so determined to use words in their bubble space rather than as the English speaking world understands them.
The most obvious examples are insisting that “baby” applies from the moment of conception and that legal abortions are “murder”. There are dozens more. State imposed prayer is religious freedom.
And they don’t seem to have much of a sense of humor either, except for mocking liberals and atheists and progressive Christians.
