Conservative radio host and conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck warns of the impending End Times, but can’t seem to pinpoint exactly when because he’s “always wrong with timing.”
… I’m always wrong with timing. But everybody knows this one is coming. But I… believe, in my lifetime, and… I think within the next 15 years, I think these are the beginnings of the days that have been foretold. I believe that we could see the days of tribulation in the next five years. I obviously don’t know. People have been planning or… have been looking forward to these days for 3,000 years. But evil is washing over the world right now.
Uncertainty is good for business, though. Beck followed the vague forecast by promoting the doomsday timeshare Fortitude Ranch, where for $1,000 annual membership you’ll be provided shelter in the event of a “collapse disaster.”
The irony is, any such societal collapse will probably be instigated by the very people who fetishize survivalism.Uh… hey, Christians. You doing okay?
According to the 2020 American Values Survey, White Evangelicals aren’t at all concerned about COVID. It’s not a priority. (Surprise?)
But if they’re not worrying about COVID, what’s their main concern? Forcing women to give birth against their will. While most other groups ranked healthcare and the pandemic among their top three critical issues, white evangelicals continue to show how not-“pro-life” they are by downplaying a virus that has taken 220,000+ lives in their own country. If Joe Biden wins — we know it’s a big “if” — let’s protect cows from this guy in particular.
Televangelist Frank Amedia warned his viewers that if Trump loses the election, folks are going to marry cows and have “perverse sex with them.”
This is news to me. And whoever wrote the 2020 Democratic Platform. As if it’s not embarrassing enough when evangelicals make faulty End Times predictions, Pat Roberson went for broke on his latest (immodestly detailed) prophecy:
Robertson said that “without question, Trump is going to win the election,” but it will result in widespread civil unrest, during which there will be at least two attempts to assassinate the president.
While America is engulfed in chaos, Robertson predicted that Islamic nations will use it as an opportunity to attack Israel but will be wiped out by God, leading to “a remarkable time of peace.”
Following several years of peace and global revival, the world will then experience the End Times’ “great tribulation” when an asteroid strikes the Earth.
Now Pat, you do know that when none of this comes to fruition, if you’re still around, you’ll be completely discredited and blacklisted from evangelicalism, right?
Just kidding, that’s not how any of this works. While we’re talking about Robertson, why do people ask him questions about EVERYTHING?
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo isn’t even trying to be low-key about his Christian Nationalism. Earlier this month, Pompeo gave a virtual appearance at a conference for the Florida Family Policy Council, an anti-LGBTQ Christian group that promotes conversion therapy.
State Department employees warned Pompeo about the impending controversy ahead of his address, but he proceeded anyway. While he didn’t speak on the topic of same-sex rights (he was too busy talking about abortion), his appearance at the event was as good as a government co-sign on faith-based bigotry. Finally, a preview of tomorrow’s news: A Christian “health insurance” company has been hit with a civil complaint FOR FRAUD by officials in New York. You can read the complaint here. We’ll have more on it tomorrow.
