The ark is as much a fiction as the 600-year-man who allegedly built it alongside his ancient sons (none of whom had shipbuilding experience). And bottom line? "The Great Flood" itself is a myth stolen from an earlier myth.

Epic fail.

I suspect some ancient goat herder constructed a raft to rescue his animals from a local flood, and from there the story got completely out of hand. ;)

Dumb Idiot Ham threw a fit when news came out that archaeologists in Mesopotamia discovered valid evidence of boats being made from animal skins that can be inflated like balloons. They're so strong that they can carry heavy loads from building materials to a menagerie of animals. That could be one of the many factors that leads to the creation of the Noah's Flood Myth besides the Jewish Rabbis in Babylonian captivity hearing the Epic of Gilgamesh and decided to write their own version of the creation and flood myths as told in the Book of Genesis.

Epic of Gilgamesh. :)

So unoriginal to boot.

They found Noah's Ark! Again! At the Druipinar site! Again! Gullible people will give them money to explore it! Again!

And the grift goes on...

OwossoHarpist's avatar

They found "evidence" of live brontosaurus-like dinosaurs surviving in the Congo basin of Africa! Send money so we can catch them!

I'd like to see them explain how the big boat came to rest on a dead world that's been underwater for a year. The sheer weight and size would've have caused it to sink into the mud and vanish without a trace along with all aboard it. And even if they did somehow survive, what would they have been breathing? All the oxygen-bearing trees and plants are no more.

Oh, and where did all that floodwater go, exactly?

oraxx's avatar

Where did it come from? Was drowning everything on earth the only way a divine being who supposedly willed the universe into existence could correct a mistake he had to know he was making when he made it? Couldn't he just snap his fingers and things all better?

Not enough water on/in Earth to cover the entire planet past the Himalayas.

Somebody was fibbin.’

oraxx's avatar

It would have to rain at the rate of thirty feet per hour to cover all the land on earth in forty days.

What a bunch of gullible rubes. The myth of a gigantic zoo-boat is one of the most laughable stories in their book of made-up crap.

oraxx's avatar

It isn't limited to Christians; believers of all stripes are desperate to have their beliefs validated and are prone to grasping at straws. The whole story of Noah and his big wooden boat is nothing but Bronze Age nonsense. If the Bible is the genuine word of God, then you'd think the discoveries of science would be confirming the Bible rather than contradicting it. No discovery of science has ever pointed to the truth of any religious dogma.

Ooooh, Ooooh, Ooooh, let's also search for the Unicorn, the Pot of Gold, Big Foot, a once missing Glass Slipper, Ogres, Trolls, Ghosts, and a burning bush that talks!!!

Hey now! Unicorns are real! /s

The KJV mentions unicorns not once but nine times.

Numbers 23:22

Numbers 34:8

Deuteronomy 33:17

Job 39:9

Job 39:10

Psalm 22:21

Psalm 29:6

Psalm 92:10

Isaiah 34:7

If you can't believe the bible, what CAN you believe? ;)

And there you have it!!!! /s

Look at the rhinoceros and you'll see an actual unicorn.

Linda's avatar

They are real to 8 yr old me. The Last Unicorn was/is my favorite movie 🦄

The way genetic haplogroups nest, they are looking in the wrong place. IF the Ark was real, it couldn't have landed in Turkey, it would have had to land on Kilamanjaro, since all extant humans started there.

For whatever it's worth:

A long time ago, when the earth was green,

There were more kinds of animals than you've ever seen.

There were sabertooths and mammoths, archaeopteryx,

And meerkats, moose, and millipedes in the mix.

There were mermaids and sirens in the deep blue sea,

Turned out they're mostly seals or a manatee.

A rhino far away looked like a horse with a horn,

And philosophers called it a unicorn.

Now in the Middle East, a big storm did brew,

With more precipitation than they were used to.

A fella named Noah said God told him to build

A boat before they all got killed.

And take some

Green alligators and long-necked geese,

Some humpty-back camels and some chimpanzees.

Some cats and rats and elephants, but don't you forget

Enough room for their food and their nests and shit.

Now, it took years for Noah to build that ark,

And chase down all the animals so they could embark.

Deforesting the neighborhood, growing feed,

And wrangling waiting animals because they’d breed.

They didn't have Komodo dragons or kangaroos,

No rattlesnakes or wildebeests or cockatoos,

No hungry hungry hippos, and sure as you're born,

Neither rhinoceroses nor unicorns.

Well, the rain came down, and the Ark hit the tide,

It had maybe four hundred species inside.

And unbeknownst to Noah, while things flooded there,

The rest of the world was spared.

Sorry, pal, we got

Records from the Chinese, they did just fine,

And Western Europeans, an unbroken line.

In North and South America, and Africa too,

So, Noah, the only one all wet was you.

The waters receded, and the rainbow was a sign

That God would never again flood the world -- but he was lyin’.

Because of global warming, we’ll be sunk someday,

But none of that is why you don't see unicorns play.

They're on a big magic island in the Irish Sea,

With hippogriffs and pegasi and a dragon or three.

Some goblins, orcs, and dwarves and elves and fairies too,

‘Cause they never know what stupid stuff the humans will do.

They turn those green alligators into purses and shoes,

And camels are beasts of burden they abuse.

So a pony at the Ren Faire, with a cardboard horn,

Is as close as you can get to a u... ni... corn.

This group has been claiming this since like the 50's and one of my cousins was spreading the claims as fact yesterday because of the Daily Mail. They also were saying they disproved Darwinism and evolution as well, which is wild to me. An Ark doesn't prove anything, and their entire support is organic sentiment, dubious claims, location and that nature doesn't have right angles. All of which doesn't disprove anything. This group is also doing it to raise money again. So sensationalist and the Daily Mail is such a rag for this shit.

Joe King's avatar

They think they disproved evolution while relying on evolution with insanely rapid speciation rates in order to fit all the animals on the magic zoo boat. Which is definitely not the glacial deposits at the Druipinar site.

"Before you think any more about that, though, you should know Witzke doesn’t have any credentials here either. She’s a self-described Christian Nationalist and former Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate from Delaware. (She lost in a landslide.) She has also promoted QAnon, described herself as a Flat Earther, and produced an anti-vaccine conspiracy movie. Not exactly someone with a long history of honesty. Or knowing anything about science.

Right Wing Watch posted a round-up of the worst things she’s said over the years. It’s not pretty."

Here's a link that doesn't make you visit Elmo's Nazibar to see the absolute cray-cray that is Lauren Witzke:

It's the usual deal: start with a conclusion, then do everything possible to claim that the "evidence" you found supports that conclusion. This is been the pattern with the multiple sightings of Noah's ark that have been assaulting our ears since Hector was a pup. The one thing that is clearly lacking, of course is a skeptical and objective point of view.

And with the current crowd making that claim, I have no expectation of either of those qualities.

Why aren’t the wonders of the natural world enough for these people? There’s enough wonder to last 10,000 lifetimes in just the ocean alone.

I've read a lot of creationist books claiming to have seen Noah's Ark in various places all over Mt. Ararat. Never mind that Ararat is actually a mountain range and that what they show in their books and videos are all likely doctored photos taken of boat shaped formations found all over a mountain in Ararat, Turkey made by creationists who parade these fakes all over their media and literature. And what about the ark they illustrated to be either a box shaped vessel with rows of windows atop the roof in the middle or a wooden oil tanker as imagined by that Dumb Idiot Ken Ham?

Seriously, do they really have any kind of valid evidence for such sightings? The real answer to that question is undoubtedly "no."
