Tim Arvidson, who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection and unsuccessfully ran as a Republican for Colorado Senate, was arrested yesterday after allegedly shooting and killing a man in Colorado Springs. According to the arrest affidavit, Arvidson approached his neighbor and accused a group of people of selling drugs and having guns. After an altercation, Arvidson then allegedly shot 43-year-old Robert Dougher, who later died of his injuries.
In a series of Facebook posts, Arvidson boasted multiple times about taking part in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, posting a photo of himself driving to the event, uploading a video of it as he participated, and later processing what he “experienced.” On the way to Washington, D.C., Arvidson posted a selfie with the comment, “We may stay a while. We’re pissed. This isn’t going to happen! Stop The Steal!” Last year, Arvidson continued to promote election conspiracies, despite holding the position of chair of the Castle Rock Election Commission."
Whether Trump wants to hear it or not, he needs to be reminded that all the "love" that came out of January 6th was from people like Arvidson, and he deserves to have his nose rubbed in it.
"Mr. President, one of the January 6th rioters you pardoned, one Tim Arvidson, has been arrested and credibly charged with murder. Do you have any comment?"
Oh, stipulated, that's the automatic stored response, especially if the reporter is female. I want to see how Trump reacts if someone like CBS's Major Garrett asks, and them presses the point when Donnie attempts to blow him off!
Another name for the "Congressional Freethought Caucus" could be the "Support The First Amendment Caucus". That's why Republicans don't want to join, they prefer the "Protect The Second Amendment Caucus"
No Republicans in the Congressional Freethought Caucus? Not shocking at all.
What IS revealing is that there aren't any Independents within the CFCs ranks. How do the Indies differentiate themselves from the GQP when it comes to public policy?
Theists tend to take credit for all that’s good with the world while assigning blame for all the world’s evils to a lack of faith. Self serving to say the least as well as monumentally dishonest. This monumentally screwed up world is overwhelmingly the work product of believers. Religious people acting in the name of their religion have spilled a river of blood.
Rep. Doggett, as always, we're glad to have you, however briefly. Still, I continue to wonder what it will take to get a Republican to recognize the value of freethought and the separation of State and Church and come into the fold.
Sadly, if it happens at all (and I am NOT holding my breath), it will be long after Trump has left the scene of American politics.
The only way for it to happen is if some religion other than conservative Christianity starts actively oppressing them the way they have been actively oppressing us.
I don't think they need to be "oppressed" so much as they need (and deserve!) to have their asses kicked. Too many of these jackasses have all but abandoned democracy because Trump has made them drunk with perceived and mostly falsely offered power, which ultimately Trump wants to arrogate entirely to himself.
There are a LOT of Republicans out there who need to wake up and smell the shit, and not ALL of it is in Trump's Depends.
It would take the Republican Party to fold entirely and be replaced with the corporate Democrats that claim to be left of center but are really moderate republicans. Like Susan Collins, Schumer and Pelosi.
This is actually something which I (and many other outsiders) find really baffling, you live in a country, which has a strong separation of church and state and yet almost every politician professes their faith on any number of occasions. It's actually a really interesting phenomenon, that the culture is so strong that only very few public figures dare to step outside those norms.
If I compare that with the political culture around here, it is so different. The UK/England has got an established church and yet very few public figures comment on their faith.
Could be as simple as that he or his staff didn't HEAR about it until recently ... OR that he figured, that now that he's retiring, it's safe to side with the heathens.
Frankly, both sides of the aisle could stand to find some freaking BACKBONE.
"The caucus now includes a record 36 members, all of whom are Democrats."
Unfortunately, dwarfed the the Congressional Epstein Caucus, all of whom are Republicans.
OT:
Not a drag queen.
Not an immigrant.
Just another tRumpanzee:

Trump would call the questioner stupid and part of the corrupt fake news.

More accurately, they want the "Protect the Second Amendment (but only for white Republicans) Caucus".

Republicans won't join any caucus that promotes 'thought' since their heads are empty vessels.
Just like their orange capo di tutti capi.
God's Own Party (GOP) panders to the preachers while viewing human decency as a character flaw and something to be ashamed of.

Journalist, movie/book critic, TV personality and author Gene Shalit (he of the enormous mustache) has died at age 100.
100 is a good run.

NEAT puddy-cat!
Typical orange cat.
KITTEH: "Me mummy. Hee hee hee!"
Hey look, another Democrat. I wonder why they're all Democrats in this caucus.
Because the Republicans oppose freedom of thought?
Either that or THEY DON'T KNOW HOW ... to think freely, that is.

I wonder why Doggett waited so long to become a CFC member if he was well-aware of their existence.
