I sent seed faith money to Oral Roberts once. In my defense, I was eight years old, and it was a dollar from my allowance.

Years ago, I called up the 700 Club hotline to ask for prayer request for a concert harp. I even sent some money to Pat's ministry in hopes my prayers will be answered and I would get a concert harp in an instant.

Didn't happened at all, did it?

No. Instead, I spent 25 years searching for a realistic way to afford a concert harp non-stop until September 15, 2016 came. The Day of the Blessed Event where I finally laid my hands on an actual Camac Athena concert grand pedal harp of my very own which turned out to be possible courtesy of my late mother, my part-time job at my local mental health center, and building just enough credit to afford putting $3,200 down towards buying my harp I named "Grover." who's been the absolute love of my life ever since.

No God poof the harp into existence by giving scamvangelical dummies money right here.

Strongly disagree. The whole point of them preying on the vulnerable is that their victims are *vulnerable* to lies and deceit. Doesn't mean their victims deserve it.

And while Popoff isn't very sophisticated, a lot of cons are. Raw IQ doesn't protect anyone because these are trained skills. In fact, raw IQ can get you in trouble by making you think you can't be fooled, when you can. Thus, the Arthur Conan Doyle problem. And why phishing works so well.

Hard for me to shed any tears for them.

I suppose on the upside that they're being swindled by these religious cons means they will send less money to conservative political scammers.

I'd like to think you were right, BH.

Anecdote: Most High Streets in the UK are a sea of closed up shops these days. My local one has only 30% of shops still open . The city fathers have appointed a 'czar' to revitalise it - it's the longest High Street in Wales. The local rag reported this and asked shop-owners how they are faring. It's unusual for anything evangelical to be reported on in the UK, but prominence was given to the owner of the 'Heavens Above' cafe on the High Street whos picture had him smugly sporting a sweater with John14-6 on it.. He claimed they were thriving and, Quote: 'we hold a monthly healing service and lots are healed.' .........Arrogant b****** I commented that if this is so, why didn't he and his fellow god-botherers travel two miles to our local large hospital and empty it and send patients to their cafe instead. Just think how wonderful our country would be if it didn't have to finance the NHS, sick folk could go along to 'Heavens Above' and for the price of a sandwich and a coffee get healed. My comment was up for about two hours, then it was deleted as 'not adhering to community guidelines.' WTF????? So lying through your teeth for jesus does adhere to them apparently.

Then today, our local community web page advertises an evening of 'Mediumship' and adds, 'Healings by appointment.'

Musk's AI Chatbot Throws Republicans Under The Bus After Being Asked About Economy

"Since WWII, Democrats have outperformed Republicans on the economy. GDP growth averages 4.23% under Dems vs. 2.36% under GOP. Job creation? 1.7% yearly for Dems, 1.0% for Republicans. Also, 9 of the last 10 recessions started under Republican presidents. Data speaks louder than party lines."

If there were a loving God around somewhere, why would such an entity allow this jerk to get rich by conning honest folks in his/her name? The fact that Popoff is hardly the only one like this should clue everyone in to the fact that it's nothing more than a racket.

Just had a religious grifter at my door a few minutes ago, soliciting donations under the guise of "taking a survey about the prospect of a one world government." Left some sort of religious nonsense pamphlet in my door after I slammed it in his face.

This is a serious question - how does one keep these assholes away from one's property? We have a "No Soliciting" sign posted, but we still get them. Do these assholes think it doesn't apply to them? Do we need something more explicitly worded?

I mean, JFC, I thought when we moved from Florida to Minnesota, we'd be getting away from these idiots.

While this doesn’t solve the problem of them coming to your door, I suggest that you take control of the conversation by 1. Asking them if they can read and understand English. 2. No matter what they say in response, point to your “no soliciting” sign and say, “Can you read this?” 3. No matter what they do in response to number 2, say “Go the fuck away and never come back.” 4. Then slam the door without waiting for any kind of response.

Whatever you do, never respond to anything they say.
