  • MAGA cultist Sean Feucht, the ego-maniac who’s been throwing super-spreader Christian worship concerts across the country, has finally met his match in Los Angeles. Feucht planned a two-day New Year’s Eve COVIDfest in the epicenter of L.A.’s homeless communities, so opposing churches and other caring people have created the “Resistance Bloackade Against Biological Warfare.”

  • The Western Isles of Scotland decided against teaching children the government-backed comprehensive sexual education in favor of prudish abstinence and heterosexual-only relations.

  • When the new Congress convenes, the House will have a new chaplain:

While I would prefer the House not have anyone in that role, let’s hope she allows atheists to deliver the invocations. Her predecessor refused to do so.

And if she wants to truly represent all Americans, she should allow @MarkPocan or @JaredHuffman or any other member to invite a secular celebrant to deliver a secular invocation as a guest chaplain.

  • COVID-denying Pastor Rev. Jeffrey Whittaker mocked a member of his own congregation for dying of COVID. Whittaker gave a sermon teasing those who wore masks and socially distanced at services before saying the 71-year-old man died of COVID “because he’s weak, because he has no faith.”

  • Our sincerest condolences to Rep. Jamie Raskin, a co-founder of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, on the heartbreaking loss of his 25-year-old son.

  • Canada’s conservative groups may be as flagrantly theocratic as those in the U.S. at times, but at least their people call them out for it.

As a Priest and Bishop-Elect, I’d ask that the UCP send Christmas greetings without the wholly inappropriate inference of divine sanction for their government. There are so many things wrong with their use of these words from the Prophet Isaiah it’s hard to know where to start.

  • Rick Maruniak, a retired police detective, has written a book about how God helped him crack cases in his 30-years working for the Cleveland Division of Police. The book is chock-full of coincidences he attributes to God, which is kind of sad when you consider he was probably a really good detective who never gave himself the credit he deserved.

No question, often police need a break to crack a case. Maruniak said he relied on help from heaven.

“The reason I wanted to write this book was that God was working. I would pray about a case. God would answer it sometimes within 24 hours,” Maruniak said.

  • And 3… 2… 1… Happy New Year! Assume the worst is still ahead so you can only be pleasantly surprised by whatever 2021 holds.
