Pretty typical of those Christians who blatantly ignore the commands of Jesus and the Bible to feed the hungry, help the poor and the downtrodden, welcome strangers to their land, house the homeless, etc.
Conservative GOP Christianity has always been more about the class warfare than the theology. As with the Abbot article about the homeless shelter, they care far less about helping the poor than making sure that they do their poverty, homelessness, and dying out of sight.
They traded in all that hippy Jesus stuff decades ago when they realized the 'prosperity gospel' pays better. It's a grift. Always has been. They don't care about helping the less fortunate anymore than they care about morals or decency.
I don’t mean to toot my own horn……, but my atheist and a little bit Jewish family took in a homeless 19 year old in December 2019. She lived with us for 4ish years. Now she and our son share an apartment. We got her enrolled in community college and still give her “parental” advice. Helped her file for financial aid. 2 more years and she will have an M.A. in social work. Her GPA is 4.0. She never thought she was smart enough to go to college.
EXCELLENT! Governor Desantis has been slowly but surely ruining the Sunshine State for its citizens with his retrogressive policies, practically since he took office. It is well past time that his actions were called out in public, and I am more than pleased that the American Humanist Association is doing so, especially in the service of the least empowered of Floridians. Such a campaign should be duplicated, anywhere such policies are proposed or put into force.
But what if a poor child forgets they are poor for a moment and thinks they are people? What if they are BLACK?? You want THEM thinking they are human too?
Good. We do NOT want them thinking there may be more to their existence then slaving away until one of us decides it’s time to torture and play with one of them until we get bored then back to slaving.
I like it. Fully agree with Hemant that 'we don't care how you celebrate but we'll use donations to help the needy' is a MUCH better message than 'your religion is fake.'
Two and a half minor quibbles.
- On the Grinch ad, we could do with less chest (yes I know it's fake. But still.)
- On the gingerbread ad, the "because of his policies" is generic and the people reading it may not know what it refers to. They shoulda referenced EBT and KidCare, like they did in the first. Being specific adds a lot of punch.
- (half) Going with the 'focus on the assistance' theme, maybe they could set up a second address (leading to the same web pages) to pull in more people. Something like HelpingTheNeedyWithHumanists.com?
All the ritualistic cruelty is simply exhausting. Rhonda Sandtits is setting himself up to be the governor of ashes. When no one in the state can get homeowners insurance, there are going to be a whole lot of foreclosures. The State economy will tank and the exodus from his MAGA heaven will be breathtaking. I wonder what kind of work he'll be able to get once his term is up.
My understanding is that it's already next to impossible to get homeowners' insurance for beachfront property in Florida due to the "hoax" of climate change and all the hurricanes it is (or isn't) producing.
This is why I say 'Give me a godless atheist over a 'bible-believin' christian' any day of the week. I relish the irony that it's humanists actually doing 'lawd's work.' Well done, AHA!
Christian Fascists have been waging a war on reality, reason, and acceptance since the beginnings of their nasty blood cult, but they accuse everyone else of intolerance. The word, "hypocrite" doesn't begin to cover them.
As a conservative Christian, I have to ask, do poor people deserve Christmas? I mean they are poor, and if God has allowed them to be poor, then who are we to question God's will. If fact, allowing the poor to access health care, or feeding the starving, or housing the homeless is a slap in the face to God's plan, which is a slap in the face of baby Jesus. So next time, you think of donating a toy to a poor child, just remember, you're making Jesus cry.
Indeed! And the same goes with taxes. Clearly Christians aren't supposed to pay any, otherwise the bible would've said something about paying taxes to Caesar.
And about that slap in God's face: any none or heretic Christian who feeds the poor, you must ride down and punish with the heaviest vengeance you can bring. Those who slap a Christian's face with such offensive charity must be responded to exactly the way Jesus said to respond to slaps in the face: with extreme force.
We need both types of campaign, now more than ever. With the Christian Nationalist takeover of the government, it is vital that we let others know that we are not alone. It is also vital that we put support in place for those whom the Christian Nationalists are going to harm.
Donation made. Shared on social media. I am doing my part in the War on Christmas.
Thank you for the American Humanist Association, thank you for the good work you do!!!. God dmn Ron DeSantis. One word Ron: Karma. Karma is best served iced cold ron don's con and may you get tons of it this Christmas
If any action at all typified the frequent comment made here that: "The cruelty is the point," there it is for all to see. Ron DeSantis not only can't be bothered to serve ALL the people of Florida, he is singling out the poorest and most vulnerable to abuse even further.
The folks who keep voting for the MGA and extreme GOP are the folks who can least afford the GOP (extreme or otherwise) policies. There are tons of folks that have discovered what tariffs will do after they voted for the orange turd, or that the ACA and Obamacare are the same thing, or that their families will be affected by the deportation policies, and are now questioning their choice. The more we point out the policies the GOP endorse and vote for are hurting the American people, including them (not just the hated others) the more they’ll question their choices and perhaps they will make different choices in the future.
Of course there will still be those who will never see. The folks that see the gas prices drop suddenly after the election went their way, means that Trump’s policies work. Not the oil companies playing politics. Or the Biden policies finally went into effect. It’s all Trump to them. But when, despite their ass kissing, they find themselves on the wrong end of his policies, their overzealous fellating won’t get them anywhere. I won’t feel sorry for them.
The GQP plans to blame the Democrats when everything goes south.
We point to them and say "Sorry Rethuglikkkans, you don't get to do that. You control every branch of government now. Or will, come January 20th. Anything and everything will be all on YOU."
If that’s all life was about, fitting into some narrow definitions of existing, then maybe they’d have a point. But it is not, it’s about surviving in harsh realities and the narrow definitions… cont.
… help them pretend the harshness of the world isn’t bad or they can control this part of life (they can’t). But bringing in a dictator to make them others conform isn’t going to be the solution they want.
Our mayor (R) voted R because law and order. I slapped my forehead, though really wanted to slap his. It’s really dispiriting when even the local leaders are so ignorant.

And nobody with more than four braincelles and a bit reading ability are surprised.

You listening, Greg Abbott??? YOU should be NEXT!
But what if a poor child forgets they are poor for a moment and thinks they are people? What if they are BLACK?? You want THEM thinking they are human too?
Absolutely not. How can I feel superior if poor kids get what they need, like decent schools, affordable health care, glasses when needed etc.
Good. We do NOT want them thinking there may be more to their existence then slaving away until one of us decides it’s time to torture and play with one of them until we get bored then back to slaving.
"We" meaning those who freely think for themselves, are skeptical and question superstitions.
Thanks

All good suggestions!
We’re so back. 😉
I don't disagree with that.

'Nuff said.
This is awesome, thanks! I will be posting Ronnie the Grinch items regularly this month ;)

Fuck Jesus and the donkey* he rode in on.
*Stolen, btw.
Donkey or young colt. As always, the bible can't make up its mind.
Both. Like I said, a hell of a show. It was unwatchable, but you couldn't look away.
Tijuana Jesus?
I believe the donkey rode Tijuana Jesus. It was quite a show.
What Won't Jesus Do?
Jesus will not help anyone poor. LOVES the rich, though.
What happens in Tijuana stays in Tijuana.

Desantis and his ilk have attacked us, mostly for not being Christian and others for not being Christian ENOUGH.
It's about time the shoe went on the other foot.

This is simply despicable ... and so is DeSantis.
Coming soon to a home near you. Compliments of project 2025.
Good for them.

I just saw a rw meme about January 20 will bring back only two genders (ha!) and sanity (double ha!). What a farce. cont.

Sorry about the replies to replies. My phone isn’t letting me post longer comments since the recent update.
Our mayor (R) voted R because law and order. I slapped my forehead, though really wanted to slap his. It’s really dispiriting when even the local leaders are so ignorant.
Because unlike Democrats, the GQP haven’t got the first clue on how to govern.
We will, but they will reply "The Deep State!!!!11eleventy!!!"
And many of their followers will believe them.
How long will it take Ronda to sue the AHA for .... reasons.
Four days?
