Pretty typical of those Christians who blatantly ignore the commands of Jesus and the Bible to feed the hungry, help the poor and the downtrodden, welcome strangers to their land, house the homeless, etc.

Conservative GOP Christianity has always been more about the class warfare than the theology. As with the Abbot article about the homeless shelter, they care far less about helping the poor than making sure that they do their poverty, homelessness, and dying out of sight.

They traded in all that hippy Jesus stuff decades ago when they realized the 'prosperity gospel' pays better. It's a grift. Always has been. They don't care about helping the less fortunate anymore than they care about morals or decency.

I don’t mean to toot my own horn……, but my atheist and a little bit Jewish family took in a homeless 19 year old in December 2019. She lived with us for 4ish years. Now she and our son share an apartment. We got her enrolled in community college and still give her “parental” advice. Helped her file for financial aid. 2 more years and she will have an M.A. in social work. Her GPA is 4.0. She never thought she was smart enough to go to college.

EXCELLENT! Governor Desantis has been slowly but surely ruining the Sunshine State for its citizens with his retrogressive policies, practically since he took office. It is well past time that his actions were called out in public, and I am more than pleased that the American Humanist Association is doing so, especially in the service of the least empowered of Floridians. Such a campaign should be duplicated, anywhere such policies are proposed or put into force.

You listening, Greg Abbott??? YOU should be NEXT!

But what if a poor child forgets they are poor for a moment and thinks they are people? What if they are BLACK?? You want THEM thinking they are human too?

Absolutely not. How can I feel superior if poor kids get what they need, like decent schools, affordable health care, glasses when needed etc.

Good. We do NOT want them thinking there may be more to their existence then slaving away until one of us decides it’s time to torture and play with one of them until we get bored then back to slaving.

I like it. Fully agree with Hemant that 'we don't care how you celebrate but we'll use donations to help the needy' is a MUCH better message than 'your religion is fake.'

Two and a half minor quibbles.

- On the Grinch ad, we could do with less chest (yes I know it's fake. But still.)

- On the gingerbread ad, the "because of his policies" is generic and the people reading it may not know what it refers to. They shoulda referenced EBT and KidCare, like they did in the first. Being specific adds a lot of punch.

- (half) Going with the 'focus on the assistance' theme, maybe they could set up a second address (leading to the same web pages) to pull in more people. Something like HelpingTheNeedyWithHumanists.com?

All the ritualistic cruelty is simply exhausting. Rhonda Sandtits is setting himself up to be the governor of ashes. When no one in the state can get homeowners insurance, there are going to be a whole lot of foreclosures. The State economy will tank and the exodus from his MAGA heaven will be breathtaking. I wonder what kind of work he'll be able to get once his term is up.

My understanding is that it's already next to impossible to get homeowners' insurance for beachfront property in Florida due to the "hoax" of climate change and all the hurricanes it is (or isn't) producing.

As a conservative Christian, I have to ask, do poor people deserve Christmas? I mean they are poor, and if God has allowed them to be poor, then who are we to question God's will. If fact, allowing the poor to access health care, or feeding the starving, or housing the homeless is a slap in the face to God's plan, which is a slap in the face of baby Jesus. So next time, you think of donating a toy to a poor child, just remember, you're making Jesus cry.

Indeed! And the same goes with taxes. Clearly Christians aren't supposed to pay any, otherwise the bible would've said something about paying taxes to Caesar.

And about that slap in God's face: any none or heretic Christian who feeds the poor, you must ride down and punish with the heaviest vengeance you can bring. Those who slap a Christian's face with such offensive charity must be responded to exactly the way Jesus said to respond to slaps in the face: with extreme force.

This is simply despicable ... and so is DeSantis.

Good for them.

The folks who keep voting for the MGA and extreme GOP are the folks who can least afford the GOP (extreme or otherwise) policies. There are tons of folks that have discovered what tariffs will do after they voted for the orange turd, or that the ACA and Obamacare are the same thing, or that their families will be affected by the deportation policies, and are now questioning their choice. The more we point out the policies the GOP endorse and vote for are hurting the American people, including them (not just the hated others) the more they’ll question their choices and perhaps they will make different choices in the future.

Of course there will still be those who will never see. The folks that see the gas prices drop suddenly after the election went their way, means that Trump’s policies work. Not the oil companies playing politics. Or the Biden policies finally went into effect. It’s all Trump to them. But when, despite their ass kissing, they find themselves on the wrong end of his policies, their overzealous fellating won’t get them anywhere. I won’t feel sorry for them.
