Can you say, "hypocrite," boys and girls? I KNEW that you could!
Damn. Yet another chapter in that bestseller, "Every Accusation is a Confession," available at your favorite bookstore (if you can find one!). Agreed, ordinarily, this shouldn't be a story ... but when someone runs for public office, spouting vitriol about pornography and abortion while indulging in both, yeah, I'd say the public has every right to know about that.
As for Mark's protests to the contrary? Well, Mark, your actions are screaming so loudly, I can't hear what you're saying!
A Holocaust denier very well might lose to somebody (Josh Stein) who, if elected, will be the first Jewish governor of North Carolina (and, when elected AG in '16, was the first Jewish person ever elected statewide to any office in NC). Got to love how the world works, sometimes.
I don't know NC politics. Is the timing and context of Robinson's comment consistent with him saying these things *because* his opponent is Jewish? As in, his opponents' faith caused the subject to come up in some interview? Or do Robinson's comments precede the current election campaign?
Okay, so not any sort of low attack on a political rival or frustrated lashing out related to his campaign. This antisemitism comes from the heart, so to speak.
"All these people consider every abortion akin to murder, yet they were extremely sympathetic to a guy who, in their minds, committed murder all because he was on their side."
If the woman who seduced him didn't try to trap him with her pregnancy, he wouldn't have to force an abortion on her.
Alternative version. He wasn't the father, he just helped this woman out of his good faith so that she stop sinning.
Another point: I think in fundie political conservativism, sexism trumps theology. So they probably don't see him as a hypocrite on abortion, because he is consistently applying the conservative rule of: it's okay for male owners of the woman decide for the woman, but a crime for the woman to decide for themselves.
Good point. To them, it's not her body, it's not even the fetus's body. That body is the property of a man, and what happens to it is 𝘩𝘪𝘴 choice. To them, only white christian men count as people. Everyone else are things.
How about my concern about his terrible business choices? Even back in the early 2000s, you could free download pron. He's buying it from a store 5 days a week? He's a sucker. A dupe. A bad manager of resources, and not tech-savvy. Why would I want the governor of the state to be a guy who gets duped by bad deals because he is too ignorant to figure out how the internet works?
(All somewhat tongue in cheek; there is every policy reason in the world for moderates and liberals not to vote for this guy.)
+++ A person's private life should not concern anyone else, but in the case of people like Robinson, he seems to think other people's personal lives are HIS business. That makes his personal life fair game.
Yikes. It doesn't take a great leap for someone like this to go from denying the Holocaust to supporting a new one. If the NSGOP manages to implement Project 2025, that is where they would go next. Vote like you are a member of every minority the Nat-Cs want to oppress. Vote blue.
I’ve been to Dachau in Germany, Yad Vashem in Israel and the DC Holocaust museum. If the Holocaust is bs (spoiler: nope), then it’s a really impressive conspiracy. Jackass.
I was sent to Germany for my two week annual training (twice) and worked and stayed on Panzer Kasern where the Germans forced the Jewish prisoners to build the Panzer tanks. I saw photos of Hitler giving a speech on a balcony of the building I slept in, the fences around the kasern were identical to what was in my history books of the concentration camps. There were layers of unnecessary for any other purpose (than guarding slaves) catwalks in the building we were working in. These buildings were not shrines, they were working buildings and they were haunted by the innocent.
I was filled with awe when visiting the Tower of London. So much history in one place! I touched a tower built 1200 years ago and thought about the stonemasons who made that tower. Don't think I want to take on Auschwitz or Dachau.
My father was in on it then, he had a nervous breakdown after seeing those poor walking skeletons in the camps he helped liberate. He had nightmares and could not speak of it for almost fifty years after.
Many of the other visitors were driven to solemnity and appeared to be gaining a deeper understanding of the Holocaust and the underlying (universal?) issues that led to it. A small number looked like they were enjoying their walk through the racist Hall of Fame.
I'm comfortable guessing which group Robinson would fall into.
I've met a few with the tattoo. We didn't discuss it. It wasn't necessary, as I've read numerous books about it. And, as a kid in the early 50s, I saw films on Walter Cronkite's show. For some reason, even 7 year old me knew it was real.
As a kid I remember seeing one of our neighbors working in her yard. I noticed that this woman had numbers tattooed on her wrist. I also remember that her husband was a very angry person. I asked my mother if she could explain what, as a young child, I observed. She sat me down and told me that they were concentration camp survivors. I still didn't understand. She then told me about the Holocaust. I never had to ask again. I passed this story down to my own kids and told them that sadly, there are ignorant people that deny that these horrific events occurred.
If anything good came of this, one of the daughters of the couple I mention, graduated from Harvard medical school.
Not sure I've met so much as one, but even the non-human evidence speaks to a horror that no sane person would deny ... which says a lot about Robinson's mindset!
Lived next door for?8-9 years to a couple who were both survivors. We had lunches together some times. Once we were talking about Thanksgiving and what we were having. They didn’t like turkey so were having a spiraled ham; she smiled at me when she said that. I smiled back and said “If God doesn’t know you are Jews by now, he’s not looking” and we both laughed.
And what makes Mark Robinson even worse as a holocaust denier is he's obviously too ignorant, arrogant to recognize that Hitler would have sent him on the train to the concentration camp too, because his skin color is wrong.
It always puzzles me when black men hate Jewish people, don't they know that Jewish people were some of the biggest helpers, and were instrumental in the Civil rights movement?
I'm going to go out onto a limb here and say, the level of shock here is zero. It's almost like there's a correlation between someone protesting something and also do it at the same time.
Even if true, I believe it is, it's not going to make a difference. That's what forgiveness is for. Absolution.
Hell, I remember a story from my church days about a christian teen who looked up to his christian scout master. The man was a pinnacle of virtue. In town, there was a theater of ill-repute (no, not a christian theater, one with less than scantily clad ladies). He and some friends were able to sneak in one day, it was dark, so no one really noticed. While they were enjoying the show, in walked the scout master. They had been caught. The teen's heart dropped at how he was going to be a disappointment in the eyes of someone he looked up to. He quickly realized, if you haven't guessed by now, the scout master was there to enjoy the show. The teen was disappointed at the fall of his hero, but he was human and fallible.
There is a local preacher who gets money from his "flock," to go to exotic dance clubs, and "houses of ill reute" to "save them". He has the most naive flock ever, to finance his vices!
It seems Christo-fascist's almost always have something to hide. Religious extremists are nearly always hypocrites who demand piety of others while retaining a very different standard for themselves. As a Christian Robinson makes a compelling case for atheism.
While as a white Christian conservative, I have no problem with his supposedly homophobic, misogynistic comments. And really what is a little holocaust denialism between friends? And I was going to vote for him, but then I saw his picture. There is just something about that picture that makes me want to cross the street when I see it walking towards me. I don't know what it is about him, that makes me think that. I just feel like I can't trust my wife or my daughter around him. I just can't trust him.
Love how (ahem) hard-core conservatives always spend decades getting their thrills, then tire of it, and start telling everyone else how they're going to hell for even thinking of doing what they actually DID for years and years and years. Why, one wonders if he also paid for a mistress to have an abortion, too.
God, my imagination is sufficient that I only need the videos to stimulate, the act happens in the shower. Why do you think I got a tankless water heater with an endless supply of hot water?
You stream not save and delete the cache, the temporary folders, and your browser history. A computer forensic expert would be able to trace it, but most housewives or children would not. If you want to save it, use an external drive.
Robinson is just preaching from Christofascists/GQP platform. A fucking grifting predator. Christofascists are malignant narcissists. He tells you who he is. He's a man whore. The question is why do voters love malignant narcissistic predators? Over 60 million people in this country suffer from narcissistic abuse. Emotional intelligence education needs to start in kindergarten. Over 54% of the public are functionally illiterate. The consequences are electing fucking stupid grifting politicians.
Despite all of these public revelations, you know, I know, that there is probably some dark shit that he has done that we still don't know about. I would check the local goat population for signs of trauma.
Can you say, "hypocrite," boys and girls? I KNEW that you could!

It's not a bestseller. Few people can afford to buy all 10,000 volumes.
Which is why I appreciate Hement's Cliffsnotes.
Hippo Crit. Is that when a hippo rolls a natural 20 to attack?
1. Critical failure.

OMG! Hilarious!
I believe the employees. Traveling outside of town to "sin" so no one from church sees you is very on brand for fundie men.
It would have been funny if he saw someone he knows from church.
Well, Baptists don't recognize each other in the liquor store. Same thing here.
When I was growing up in KY, at big parties there would be ‘Methodist’ and ‘Baptist’ punch bowls…
But how does that help the party-goer tell which one is stronger? Around my way, the saying was "Four Methodists are always looking for a fifth."
Whichever one had access to grandpappy's still.
They always do, and pretend they don't know each other. I worked in a video store in the 90s with the biggest adult movie section, so I met them all.
In one of the videos?

Josh Stein is a fantastic candidate for governor. He's been a great attorney general, and he's running a stellar campaign for governor.
I don't know NC politics. Is the timing and context of Robinson's comment consistent with him saying these things *because* his opponent is Jewish? As in, his opponents' faith caused the subject to come up in some interview? Or do Robinson's comments precede the current election campaign?
The FB post was from 2018, so it predates the current election cycle.

Bingo. This is the real ideology behind the pro-life movement.
This needs to be on posters all over the place.
Alternate alternate version: "shut up and obey, peon. That's why."

Anyone who wants to deny the Holocaust should be confronted by a BUNCH of survivors. Sadly, there aren't a whole lot of them left.
Mandatory field trip to Auschwitz?

It’s not for the faint of heart, for sure.
My father was in on it then, he had a nervous breakdown after seeing those poor walking skeletons in the camps he helped liberate. He had nightmares and could not speak of it for almost fifty years after.
Probably a waste of a plane ticket that could be better given to someone who might actually learn a thing or two.
As long as he loses the election, he can sit in his house yelling offensive crank theories at his walls and grandchildren for all I care.
At his walls, yes. Not the grandchildren, though. Those poor kids don't need THAT.
That, too, absolutely.
I recently visited the Holocaust Museum in DC.
We have the Maltz Museum of Jewish History here in Cleveland, not far from where I live. I owe it to myself to visit sometime.
We have the Holocaust Center for Humanity here (it's at 2045 2nd Ave).

Makes me wonder if he is familiar with the legacy of the kkk.
Because you are.
Surprised he doesn't deny slavery.
I wish him and his equally hypocritical ilk the worst fate they deserve.
Here's NOT to you, Mr. Robinson.
And Jesus probably can't stand the sight of him! Whoa-whoa-whoa!
Oh-oh-oh.

I think christians are immunity to hypocrisy.
When someone can be forgiven for damned near ANYTHING, hypocrisy becomes a no-op.
Indeed. Yet another level of hypocrisy when christians are all about holding everyone accountable.
Except other christians.
Laws for thee, not for me. 😝

You're assuming he stopped collecting porn. He may have finally learned to download it free instead of paying for it in a shop.
Unlike videos tapes downloaded porn leave traces on the computer.
On the keyboard too.
🤣
Not if you are a woman.
I've seen videos...
God, my imagination is sufficient that I only need the videos to stimulate, the act happens in the shower. Why do you think I got a tankless water heater with an endless supply of hot water?
For forensic experts, yes. For your wife, there are countermeasures.
Partition du disque dur ? But it will leave a trace too. She will see it when she wants to save something.
