*Waiting for NOGODZ's rant about Hemant posting way too soon*

I wonder if Professor Dave will make a video on it.

"we “didn’t even read the damn book.”

I don't have money to waste on luxury toilet paper.

"legitimizes the unscientific notion that men can become women (and vice versa)."

Seriously ? I thought a scientist would have the curiosity to read about new discoveries and research. They sounds like the anti evolutionists who whine about Darwin or the pseudo archeologists who create bullshit based on books written more than a century ago 🤦

Men don't become women and vice-versa. Trans people are born with the wrong genitalia and set of hormones, I don't see how is it complicated to understand and I am no geneticist.

This false premise that Krauss promotes, that higher education promotes "liberal values", is straight out the RWNJ handbook.

The truth has a liberal bias. Always has, always will. Conservatives hate the truth because it derails their propaganda.

Science and learning have a "liberal bias" because they are evidence based.

I still have PTSD from Covid when Dear Leader demonized our city for political gain. It’s UNFORGIVABLE. 24/7 ambulance sirens and bodies piling up in refrigerated trucks outside my building as I live near a major hospital. We need more books out there about human gender. Considering how human fetuses develop, it is amazing that any of us are fully male or female. In fact I am not sure that any of us are. And this is just from a physical point of view. Add the mind and it gets even more ambiguous. I have recently read about a 70 year old father of 4 months who was discovered to have a womb. A mother of 3 who developed from twin eggs that fused. Half of her body was XX and half XY.

I hate the way science fact is being turned into political footballs. Then the right wingers say we have to listen to both sides. Facts DO NOT TAKE SIDES. Those who say we are born male and female and that is it are denying the facts.

Negative entropy is always harder to create than positive entropy, or in simpler words it's a lot easier to destroy than it is to create. It's because of curiosity that science exists in the first place, seeking information and answers. Because of this, new information and discoveries come to light all the time, and science grows and evolves.

These dickwads don't like change, and they don't like the new information that is coming to light, especially the expanded understanding of sexuality and the impact conservative policies are having on our environment. They are incurious conservative dipshits at heart who don't like how that information conflicts with their politics and worldview.

They also seem to believe that their "science" should be the exclusive oyster of conservative white men like themselves. I can't think of any other reason why they would see reaching out to underrepresented minorities with scholarships is a threat. Real scientists would applaud bringing in new talent. But no, with these coneheads, it's "get rid of all these progressive liberals that are ruining things for us, and let us run the show."

People like this are not in science for the joy and wonder of new discoveries or the quiet satisfaction of performing needed work to gather useful problem-solving data or make life better for their fellow humans. They are probably in it primarily to chase the fame and glory of being "that" scientist who makes a discovery that gets talked about in history books. The last thing they want to see is a brilliant, well-respected Black scientist making that discovery. What a blow that would be to their fragile, brittle egos. And they certainly don't want to hear anything that challenges their preconceived notions about sex, gender, and planet-killing fossil fuels.

I once had a science teacher tell me that science is a growing, living thing, and if one wanted to go into a scientific field, one needed to be prepared to discard even favorite theories if new data disproved them, to always expect the unexpected no matter how uncomfortable that is, and to always test and re-test everything.

I loved science as a kid. I couldn't get enough of it. To see what is happening to it now breaks my heart.

A couple of years ago, I saw a documentary about Alexander the Great. Half of the historians* in it were women, and between one quarter and a third were non white.

*At least 6 or 7.

I’m betting it wasn’t produced in the US?

Thanks! I'll be watching them soon, and I'm sure my husband will too. He's quite a fan of history.

The 6 or 7 historians may be across the 3 documentaries, not the one on Alexander.
