That is exactly the strategy. These school districts in Texas and Arkansas are caught in a proverbial Catch-22: stand back and do nothing, and the posters remain; fight back, and there is a chance that it heads to the Supreme Court.

There has been a feeling on the Right since Trump was elected that they're able to do things they were prohibited from doing before. In my lifetime, I can't remember a point in history when people of a political party felt like the election of their candidate gave them carte blanche. There was a bit of that under George W., but not to this extent.

Closest analogy I can think of is when Kennedy was assassinated in the middle of civil rights era, Johnson took over, and segregationists started fighting back harder because they figured he was a "good 'ol boy" and that if they got his attention, he'll move away from Kennedy's policies.

Unfortunately for them, Johnson seemed to have felt deeply that he needed to finish out Kennedy's term honoring Kennedy's promises and policies, regardless of what his personal position might have been. But also, it turned out that his time growing up amongst southern white racists meant that he understood them...but did not mean he agreed with them.

Anyway, your first line is exactly what's going on. All these states and districts are passing blatantly unconstitutional laws because they think if they can just grab the attention of Trump and SCOTUS, those authorities will make their rules legal. Trump would probably like to just because he loves the attention and right-wing adulation. Thomas and Alito might because they are so religiously right-wing. But I'm not sure that even on this court, there are 5 justices that would agree to 10C posters and the like.

If things continue as they are (oh geez) our best chance of some semblance of a democracy will be in 2026, when we banish those traitorous ingrates from the right with new House and Senate leadership. Only by the Republicons controlling all 3 branches of government can this coup survive. That’s why Shitler has ordered Wheels Abbott to gerrymander his pasty white ass off in Texas.

Our government is so far off the rails it will take a revolution to fix it.

These things are always a win-win for the religious right. They either get to force their religion into the public schools paid for with everyone's tax dollars, or they get to play the poor persecuted victims of the godless left. I suspect it's that second outcome that results in bringing in the most money. In any event, these efforts are a tacit admission on the part of organized religion that they cannot survive if they are not allowed to indoctrinate children before they reach the age of reason.

The MAGAS believe that they are god’s chosen people and are destined to rule the world. In their (MAGAS) mind a true Christian nationalist is white (European descent), heterosexual (men/women genders only), Christian (evangelical, but other Protestant sect are acceptable), conservative (fascist), republican (Trump supporter).

The rednecks think that they and only they have Human Rights and Civil Liberties, so they should rule by default for the reasons stated above. The rest of us are considered by the rednecks as servant and/or slaves to be used, abused, or killed on a whim without any consequences.

This is the attitude/worldview that the Christian Nationalists have towards non MAGAS and the world at large!

This deity forces his adherents to believe in him by prayer. He rewards them by never showing himself, and random acts of luck that coincidentally have exactly the same probability as chance. This deity allegedly wrote a book with fables about life on planet earth.

The stronger the belief, the bigger the delusion said deity is real.

There was a time when when the courts placed an injunction against something like this, it applied to all, but now the corrupt SCROTUS has made rulings that kneecap the courts and keep rulings from having any teeth. Federal court rulings only affect the state the court is in, rather than all states on a FEDERAL level. Moronic. But it is logical that when there is a challenge to the legality of a government entity doing something, and the court says don’t do this thing until the legality is determined, it would be effective across the board and not only to the few entities involved in the case. If it’s illegal, it’s illegal for everyone, not just a few. Idiotic.

I hope these district administrators and board members lose their positions here, they’re obviously incompetent.

Not quite correct, I think.

In the past (and I'm thinking specifically of Kitzmiller), districts and states which were not part of the suit but considering a similar idea would pay attention to another district's legal result and say "oh, we're not going to bother trying that now, because it would cost a lot and our end result would likely be the same failure they experienced." IOW, the conservaties in charge of the next county over might personally dislike some ruling, but they were pragmatic about their leadership.

But now they bother, because conservatives today will happily waste taxpayer dollars on useless lawsuits just to get themselves some anger votes. Its far more about the clicks than good governance.

At a time when two branches of our government are basically either acting in a lawless or a collusional attitude, it's refreshing to see that the judiciary, at least in places, is attempting to hold up the rule of law. This is especially encouraging as regards the tenuous wall between State and Church.

I think it depends if the USA can stay together. If it does, things will muddle through. If not, I can see some states becoming impoverished. The irony being they are likely to be GOP dominated states.

Just like here in the UK with Brexit, individual states might find their economic power much reduced.

Mithras (a Persian god), Sol Invictus (Helios), etc, wouldn’t object to people worshipping others gods as long as you also worshiped him. The Abrahamic god seem very possessive (like a jealous boyfriend/husband) that he needs to give permission to do things or needs know everything you do.

If that were two humans acting like that; we would not call that love, but abusive behaviour. Yet, when it comes to goddybitch/jeezyboy/flying rat we are to accept it as love not abuse. If that is not a symptom of insanity, I have no idea what symptoms for insanity are!
