Haven't you heard? The Constitution has been burned and replaced with a piece of paper with "TrUmP Duz wUeVR hE WanTs 4ever alsO hE iS Da Bigly Best!!!1" written on it in crayon.
As an Hoosier, I think we need this. This isn't an religious issue, but an economic issue. Do you know how much money, I've spent putting the correct 10 commandments in my Catholic neighbors yard, just to have those heathens move the stones the next day? Not to mention all the money I had to spend when they put the wrong commandments on my yard!
Christian Indiana lawmakers take an oath to support and defend the Constitution knowing full well they've no intention of honoring that oath. More proof that xtians have no problem with lying, despite the prohibition against lying found in the Ten Commandments.
It's lost on a lot of people that eight of the Commandments would be unconstitutional should anyone try writing them into law. Somehow, the fiction this country was somehow based on them persists, even though our foundational document never mentions them and specifically bans religious tests for holding public office. In any event, things like this are all about conservative Christians trying to mark their territory in the pubic square owned by people of all faiths, and those with no faith at all. It's a win-win. They either get to force their religion on people or they get to play the poor, persecuted victims of the godless left.
I have yet to understand what is sooooooooo threatening about anyone being "godless." A lot of people are "godless" or agnostic. How does this threaten anyone else in any way, shape, or form? How does this impose any limits to their right to believe in whatever deity they wish? How does this impact them PERSONALLY?
It doesn't. Period, end of story. This is about people who wake up offended and go to bed offended that they don't get to control over every aspect of other people's lives.
That's the crux of it. The gullible faithful cannot accept the idea that other faiths (including no faith) are possible and can be tolerated by their judgmental god. Exposure to these other faiths might lead some people to moderating their religious views, and that is not acceptable.
I agree with most of what you have said, but there is a significant threat in "godlessness". If, for example, christians, (and muslims and jews,... ) stop threatening people with the wrath of their various "gods", people may stop going to churches, mosques, synagogues, watching/listening to religious programs and, well, incomes from "voluntary tithes" and similar for apologists, theists, preachers, evangelists, etc., will go down. And isn't making as much money as possible what religion, and particularly christianity, is all about?
It seems to me that the 1st Commandment ("Thou shalt have no other god before thee") directly contradicts the 1st Amendment ("Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"). And further, as a non-believer, I see this worship of the Ten Commandments as a kind of idolatry--which the 2nd Commandment prohibits!
Not only has he kidnapped the head of state, the US is going to run the country for the foreseeable future and is going to send in US companies to run the oil companies.
Trump has apparently tripled his worth since he came to power, one has to wonder how much more money this will make him.
Dictator for a Day: A MAGA Musical for the Masses. Starring J-L Cauvin, the world's best Trump impersonator. Coming very soon to Tubi, Amazon and other streaming platforms. Available now to rent at DictatorForADayShow.com.
And once again, the question must be asked: What does a set of laws made for one group of people alone during the Bronze Age in the Middle East have to do with the United States, which didn't even exist at the time those laws were alleged to have been created and imposed? They're not even the true Ten Commandments.
I'm sorry this is so late; I have returned from visiting family. Every Christmas I have to make a Christmas pudding (Mrs. Beeton's, amended and fed with brandy frequently) along with brandy butter and rum butter. It takes a while to sober up. Nobody ever wants the kid seethed in its mother's milk option so I don't make it.
Indiana Republicans have moved from pissing on the Constitution to shitting on it, as evidenced by the fact that this is round Number Two. We now need bleach, rags, and rubber gloves in addition to our mops to clean this mess up.
The Ten Commandments are obviously not about promoting Christianity, Christian churches aren’t even putting them up, they don’t use them in their teachings.
By the way, the midterms need to be fucking lit. We really need to show up, and destroy the Republican Party. What happened last night is just the beginning, the right knows they are on borrowed time, cankles will keel over, shady Vance will not be able to fill in the personality for the cult, they know they have to complete the dictatorship immediately or else it will collapse. Johnson won’t hold him accountable for this illegal act, but the world might, but congress ought to, the democrats and the republicans that have decided to quit (I’m lookin at you MTG) should grow a fucking backbone and force the issue. Impeach the basted again and make it stick in the senate. But no one in our country has the balls, our representatives all fucking Rambo sitting in their comfy chairs in congress, but when the shit actually hits the fan, they’re pissing in their mini wheats.
I barely have words to describe the despair I'm feeling. The cowards in Congress need to act immediately or else this could escalate to WWIII. That's not hyperbole, and this time we won't be among the Allies.
They are fully aware of the fact that they are violating the Constitution. They revel in it. It is not about right or wrong, it's about keeping and expanding their power. They have actually admitted as such.
I would be sure to enter those conversations into the record. That these governmental officials seem to scoff at the Constitution is a serious and important datum that should be part of any judicial considerations.
They also deserve to have their pants publicly pulled down!
With respect to Venezuela: that’s a hell of a distraction from the Epstein files.
ETA, hours later: I regret the above remark as it trivializes a very serious situation. I commend Joan the Dork for her response to me. I wish I had been serious enough to write something even half as appropriate.
Another quagmire to suck up money and lives for years, maybe decades on end- and another source of hate and horror that will haunt us for generations longer as the shock and anger reverberate across the continent. Chump has indeed secured his legacy- he will be remembered alongside its worst tyrants and monsters, not 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 a cautionary tale, but an exemplar of 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 a human ought not to be.
And every single person who followed his orders is now a war criminal. This was so blatantly, egregiously wrong that no excuse could possibly cover it- the game was given away weeks ago when Dear Leader himself said on camera that he wanted Venezuela's resources. Iraq was bad enough, but the rank-and-file could at least be forgiven for not being in on the conspiracy that manufactured the pretext for 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 war; the true motivation for 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 one was right out in the open before anyone was issued their marching orders. No one involved, not from the highest generals and admirals (and shitfaced cabinet members), down to the greenest private on the business end of this lurid business, can pretend innocence here. They knew it was wrong. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 knew it was wrong. Our military has sacrificed its last shred of honor on the altar of a mad wannabe-king's ambition.
Yes, relying on members of the armed forces to refuse to carry out illegal orders is now officially wishful thinking. I suspect Trump is now free to turn them on US citizens, given no one seems to want to put the Constitution ahead of their career.
Less disgusted with the country than I am with those currently in power (CANNOT call ANY of them "leaders"), as well as with those idiot-children who put them BACK in power.
I LOVE the US. I haven't been to all 50 states, but to a good portion of them, and I think we have something valuable here. That Trump can only think of exploiting anything and everything he can get his hands on because he has a want and a need in his gut that NOTHING will ever satisfy – THAT is what ruins and spoils everything.
And it's why Trump and EVERYONE associated with his administration need to be THROWN OUT.
Scarcely three days old, and this year already feels like a decade. If there is a moral event horizon for nations, then we are surely on its precipice... if we haven't already goose-stepped over it. We've got a long, 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 wait ahead between now and November.
Joan, this is such a fantastic comment. I wish I hadn’t been so snarky in the comment to which you responded and further wish I had written something even half as wonderful as you have here. Thank you for saying so well what I’ve been thinking all day.
I gave REAL THOUGHT to adding that to my comment! 😁
Seriously ... this country should not have to go through three more years of Trump's madness. I'm honestly wondering if it's going to take a public uprising a la France 1795 to kick him and his idiots out.
His "brain" and body will never make it to the finish line. He'll have to be propped up and paraded ala "Weekend at Bernie's" by his admin trying to distract everyone from the stench.
Someone posted this on fb and in less than 10 minutes there were already 250+ comments on every variation of “Yes” and “What do you need to make this happen” and “When can you start”
So Maduro goes to trial. The prosecution presents the “evidence”, the judge has no option but to declare it all hearsay and dismiss it. And then orders Maduro and his wife to be released. Maduro presses charges for unlawful arrest and Donny has to answer that charge as the chief instigator. Donny goes to jail - and has to pay damages for the trouble, destruction and death. Plus money to the families of all the people his goons murdered.
"The prosecution presents the “evidence”, the judge has no option but to declare it all hearsay and dismiss it."
On appeal SCOTUS orders that the "evidence" must be accepted. When the government can't reveal the source of its "evidence" for security reasons, the court must trust the government on its word.
Thousands of Christian churches in Indiana and not one of them can give these Ten C monuments a home?
That would defeat the purpose of pissing on the Constitution.
Haven't you heard? The Constitution has been burned and replaced with a piece of paper with "TrUmP Duz wUeVR hE WanTs 4ever alsO hE iS Da Bigly Best!!!1" written on it in crayon.
How DARE you bring facts and logic into the discussion!!!!!
Sorry. It all just slipped out.
As an Hoosier, I think we need this. This isn't an religious issue, but an economic issue. Look at it this way: Sounds like you folks are getting some great exercise.
Christian Indiana lawmakers take an oath to support and defend the Constitution knowing full well they've no intention of honoring that oath. More proof that xtians have no problem with lying, despite the prohibition against lying found in the Ten Commandments.

It doesn't. Period, end of story. This is about people who wake up offended and go to bed offended that they don't get to control over every aspect of other people's lives.
They turn a blind eye to the countless horrors perpetrated by religious people in the name of their God.
The 'mysterious ways' fallacy.
Always works.
If you're gullible enough to accept a fable as reality, you're threatened by someone who doesn't accept the fable as reality.
That's the crux of it. The gullible faithful cannot accept the idea that other faiths (including no faith) are possible and can be tolerated by their judgmental god. Exposure to these other faiths might lead some people to moderating their religious views, and that is not acceptable.
Or may lead to someone losing their faith (magical thinking).
If hating the godless is wrong, they don’t want to be right (just right wing).
I agree with most of what you have said, but there is a significant threat in "godlessness". We're kidnapping foreign heads of state now. Lovely. The snot-nosed schoolyard bully of the Americas strikes again.
Not only has he kidnapped the head of state, the US is going to run the country for the foreseeable future and is going to send in US companies to run the oil companies.
Trump has apparently tripled his worth since he came to power, one has to wonder how much more money this will make him.
So much for reducing carbon emissions. The planet can go to shit for all they care. It's the money that matters.
Got up this morning, took a look at my NY Times feed, and that was the first thing I saw. Congrats, Donnie, you have now made the US a rogue nation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
WTF.
No Nobel for Trump. He just flushed any chance for one down a gold-plated toilet.
Down a TACKY gold-plated toilet.
Remember, he promised to be only be a dictator on Day 1:

Person, woman, man, camera, TV, and, uh, five others...
As one observer queried "Why do his doctors keep asking him to take cognitive tests AT ALL, let alone the same one every 6 months?"
Because he slips a little more every day? 🤔

We will show up, we will vote, we will win the vote, the Trump regime will throw out the votes.
What will we do? Who of us is ready?
I was wondering how 2026 could be worse than 2025, but was afraid to ask.
Now I know why.

Sometimes gallows humor is the only thing that can keep us sane in this mad world.
Trump wagged the dog, except it's more like throwing a dog over a cliff.
Isn't that Noem's job?
That c-word is the one who deserves to be thrown over a cliff.
Which is all the more reason to LEAN ON THEM BOTH: The Epstein Files and that COMPLETELY ILLEGAL kidnapping of Nicolas Maduro.
[I have to believe that the concept of a sovereign nation means NOTHING to Trump.]
Trump may not want to travel to other countries. He now stands a very good chance of being kidnapped and put on trial for war crimes in the Hague.
If. Only.
He doesn’t have to leave the US. He’s already set the precedent that it’s OK to kidnap the president in his own home.
His neighbors hate him, so he won't be able to count on them for help.
Oh, BER-ROTHER! He'd have a STROKE!
One can but hope.
I gave REAL THOUGHT to adding that to my comment! 😁

Either that ... or Trump IS doing God's Will™!
Let THAT thought sink in for a second! 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
You’d think YHVH would be able to make better choices than to use a guy who thinks he IS god.
"You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below."
-- Exodus 20:4
That's the 2nd Commandment. Pretty all-encompassing. And it shows that Ten Commandment monuments are a violation of that commandment.
The second commandment would eliminate ALL PAINTING and SCULPTURE ... with the possible exception of abstract art.
These dickheads never think through what they think they want.
Especially that cross/crucifix. And bowing down and worshiping it is a big no-no, according to the Sky Daddy.
