The absurdly misnamed pro-life movement is pro death penalty, anti gun control, anti universal health care and never seems to have met a war they didn’t love. They quit caring about the children they’re supposedly protecting the moment they’re breathing on their own. This movement is anti-woman and is all about controlling them any way they can.
I am not. "Crisis pregnancy centers" are dishonest by nature, lying about the risks of abortion, the effects of abortion, and the quality of medical staff available. The most a pregnant individual could expect from them is a pregnancy test, a pack of diapers, and maybe an ultrasound administered by the highest qualified medical person there -- the ultrasound technician. If they're lucky, ther might be an actual nurse.
Out of the 50k or so OB-GYNs in the US, they would be lucky to find 100 that are anti-abortion and would sign their statement of faith. How many of those would move to Potatoland?
The cruelty is the point. It was NEVER about "unborn children". It was always about control.
I doubt highly that the ultrasound technician is actually qualified as an ultrasound technician. Most everyone in most CPCs are church volunteers. They have enough politicians in their pockets to avoid any truth in advertising and certification requirements in all other aspects, they rarely have doctors in the building (they claim there are doctors on staff, but only ever in the on paper sort of way, never in the there’s one in the building way). They’ve never been upfront with patients, why would we believe they’re being upfront with the hospital?
Exactly. I think there was a case recently where a CPC did an “ultrasound” and failed to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, causing a life threatening emergency for the patient. I’m sure it happens all the time and we don’t hear about it.
I can't remember the condition, but there as a similar story where the ultrasound "technician" gave the patient a diagnosis of definitively X (or not X) except that whatever condition is not detectable by ultrasound.
Idaho voters are in the Find Out stage. Finding out in this case means potentially dying but they are probably okay with that since they think they will meet jesus instead of the reality of meeting decomposition.
And to boot CPCs often violate HIPAA laws, share your records with anti abortion orgs, and track your pregnancy. Somehow they get a pass with “freedom of speech” for all of it.
Did you read the story about a lady who had an ectopic pregnancy? She had gone to one of those places and they had done an ultrasound. Either they missed the ectopic pregnancy or they saw it and lied to her, because they did not tell her that she needed to get urgent care, because ectopic pregnancies are dangerous.
Afterwards, they apparently said that their ultrasounds weren't 'medical', they were 'for educational purposes only'.
My former representative in the MO state legislature, Bob Onder, was one of those. He is an anti-abortion zealot who was a practicing OB-GYN before getting into politics (probably in hopes of being able to vote for state anti-abortion laws). Now he’s moved up to Congress, where he’s another Xtian Nationalist and ardent Trump booster. I cannot fathom any woman ever having wanted him as her doctor.
I think they want white babies and don’t care if anyone else dies. If some poor whites die in the process, oh well. That baby will go to a good Christian family.
"Only because I believe this gives them an excuse to test the infrastructure necessary to prevent white women who can be pregnant from leaving the United States."
Women should remain at home, sit still, keep house, and bear and bring up children...If a woman grows weary and, at last, dies from childbearing, it matters not. Let her die from bearing - she is there to do it.
Martin Luther
That is the christain attitude in one statement. That is who and what these enemies of women always were. Immoral haters of humanity.
Well and properly done. Big thanks to Newport Hospital District for slamming the door on 7B Care and their retrogressive faith statements. This is what needs to happen, not just in Idaho, but nationwide. Tolerance for this brand of blind dogma has to end. At least one hospital system has taken a stand, and I appreciate that.
Exactly. All you're going to get at a clinic is amateur prayers. Triple A at best. When you need serious level prayer you need to go to a church. That's where the professional prayers are. People with training and experience, selected for their skill and results. Why, I'd bet that some of those pro prayers are batting .00000001 which is way better than any amateur is doing.
Isn't that the state where the AG went to court, because he did not want his state to adhere to Emtala? His name is Rokita, I don't know whether he's Idaho, I just remembered his name.
Also, either he or someone connected to him claimed that there have not been any occasions where women had to be flown by helicopter to elsewhere, because they had emergencies which the doctors were not allowed to treat. There have been such occasions, they were lying!
In this regard I - again - want to give a shoutout to Jessica Valenti and her 'Abortion Every Day' newsletter, it's on Substack. She tracks reproductive medicine and related issues across the country.
Raul Labrador, he argued with Amy Coney Barrett about how many organs a woman could lose, before the need for an abortion could be considered life-threatening.
Rokita is in Indiana, the one that is fighting to get the abortion lists made public, also the guy that went after Caitlin Bernard who performed the termination on the pregnant ten-year-old. It is so easy to confuse the fanatics.
I second this. Was on her live Substack today where she mentioned that a lot of the kooks introducing bills to deprive women of their bodily autonomy fly under the radar. Even in red states this isn’t popular. Expose their names and let their constituents give them hell.
How long before Idaho restricts which kind of Christian doctors will get to practice medicine there? Will Catholics, Mormons, etc. get shown the door, too?
Christians will always turn on their own when they're done with everyone else.
I have been told that Utah Mormons think the many Idaho Mormons are way too serious about the whole thing. Like, even they worry about them being so severe.
“It’s what always happens when the people who don’t value women’s health take control of it.”
It’s what happens when the people who don’t value women take control. Remember, these people are saying things like “women are people that people come out of”. To these folks we are just vending machines, put in nice coins and sex falls out and then later a baby falls out.
Also, remember that most states are adopting strict abortion bans after several years of watching women die horribly in Texas from a lack of access to reproductive healthcare. Bleeding out in hospital parking lots, dying of sepsis in emergency rooms waiting for a doomed “heartbeat” to stop, or dying waiting for a D&C after a live birth when the placenta doesn’t deliver completely. The maternal and infant mortality rate in Texas shot up like 30% or more after their ban went into effect, and these other states said “hold my beer, I can make it higher.”
I wonder if the hospital is interested in providing care for these patients that have no options. Perhaps they can provide a shuttle service to the town to deliver the women the thirty miles for care. Have a clinic day for Idahoans prenatal care once a week that provides transportation. This provides access to the doctor they promised without having to bow to the bigotry. It’s not perfect but it is something.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t revolt against these fuckers. We really need to stand up and make these people scared. Scared to open these fraudulent clinics, scared to pass deadly legislation, scared to run for office with views like that. It might start with a blue wave midterm election, but it doesn’t end there.
A few years ago, a ‘crisis pregnancy center’ opened across the street from a local Planned Parenthood. It was complete with nasty protestors harassing clinic patients and a Mary statue on the front porch.
Planned parenthood, quietly acquired a new property with no front sidewalks and an entrance in the back, all in a professional park, private property. The loons still show up on the shoulder of the road but they can no longer harass patients or they get arrested for trespassing.
How is that legal? Why is it Christians are allowed to discriminate against others but if a Christian is fired for harassing people, suddenly they're the victims?
You forgot to add our Supreme Court. There are times when it seems that they think that religion is a get out of jail free card when it comes to following the Constitution.
They'd rather watch women die than accept help from a physician who doesn't fit inside their itty-bitty little bigot box, huh? Wish I could say I'm surprised, but twerps like these have been telling us who they are for decades.
I do not know enough about that story to say whether I agree or disagree with your take on it. However, if we're supposed to love our neighbor and enemies then why wouldn't we heal them if we had the skill to do so? It's at the very least just basic humanity.
DG didn't get the fact that pais is from the Greek texts, which are the earliest known translations of the bible. For rather obvious reasons, later translations would change the term to servant (read: slave).
The text you read is a copy of a copy of another edited copy, translated from other languages and edited according to the biases of the editors.
That's called "loss of cultural context", common when things are copied from one language to another, which is basically every part of your anonymously authored bible, written hundreds of years after imaginary jesus allegedly died.
Considering the textual history of the NT, it is remarkable how well the documents agree with each other if you look over time. Doesn't resemble Telephone at all.
That's surprising you say that given the fairly well attested textual history of the NT. The Gospels that we have were written in Koine Greek which would have made them as accessible to as many people as possible in that time. Which gospel was written hundred of years after Jesus?
None of it is surprising despite your gaslighting. All of the New testament.
Provide proof for the writings, their dates and their veracity. You continue to come here and beat a dead horse even though you provide zero proof for any of your claims.
How long have you been making fallacious claims with not a scintilla of evidence to back them up?

I just mentioned this case.
I suspect you also subscribe to Jessica Valenti?
You'll have come across the story about the lady with the ectopic pregnancy getting an ultrasound at one of those places?
Indeed ;)
Idaho voters are in the Find Out stage. Finding out in this case means potentially dying but they are probably okay with that since they think they will meet jesus instead of the reality of meeting decomposition.
I love Find Out stage. No “actual doctors” 🥴 and existing in a healthcare desert 🏜️
Having the day and life they voted for.
I am sure not everyone voted for it, but those who did deserve to burn in Hell. And this time I am not pointing to Hell, Norway.
There's also a Hell Michigan:-)
And to boot CPCs often violate HIPAA laws, share your records with anti abortion orgs, and track your pregnancy. Somehow they get a pass with “freedom of speech” for all of it.
Christian Privilege. Again.
Did you read the story about a lady who had an ectopic pregnancy? She had gone to one of those places and they had done an ultrasound. Of course. Their beliefs are more important than those slutty pregnant womens life.
My former representative in the MO state legislature, Bob Onder, was one of those. Probably why he had to move to politics, he couldn’t get patients to trust him.
They are usually volunteers, they rarely will pay anyone with any training.
Honestly, I think they want women to die.
After all, if a woman dies in childbirth, well, she died for her baby and that's "beautiful martyrdom". She died doing "her purpose".
And then her husband is free to go check out the latest models of replacements conveniently located at the local church youth group
I think they want white babies and don’t care if anyone else dies. If some poor whites die in the process, oh well. That baby will go to a good Christian family.

And they rounded up young pregnant immigrants (girls) and specifically sent them to one detention center in TX where they won’t get any care...
Highly recommend Andra’s Substack.
That checks out. Yikes
You will produce live babies, and die trying.
Such cynicism.
I love it.
excuse me while I go throw up my strawberry yogurt and coffee ...
In their minds there is a ‘surplus’ of wimmen. It’s the “modest proposal’ of the modern era.
Women should remain at home, sit still, keep house, and bear and bring up children...If a woman grows weary and, at last, dies from childbearing, it matters not. Let her die from bearing - she is there to do it.

That is the christain attitude in one statement. That is who and what these enemies of women always were. Immoral haters of humanity.
Doesn't that Statement of Faith positively scream "Establishment of religion?"
Bullhorns and PA systems come to mind. 📢
They are a Christian (Nationalist) nonprofit, so technically it isn't, but since they are the only game in town, it effectively is.
Well and properly done. Big thanks to Newport Hospital District for slamming the door on 7B Care and their retrogressive faith statements. There are a LOT more to go.
Amen
"Life Choices Pregnancy Center has always operated as a Christian, faith-based ministry."
Then why do you need doctors? Faith not strong enough? Prayers not working?
Why do they need a clinic? Just send everyone to the church.
Exactly. All you're going to get at a clinic is amateur prayers. Triple A at best. When you need serious level prayer you need to go to a church. That's where the professional prayers are. Idaho's abortion bans is going to kill women. They don't care about dead women, as long as they have a live fetus.
They don't even care about that.
Dr. Joycelyn Elders, a gift from Arkansas, warned us about America's love affair with the fetus back in the 90s.
Thanks for that reference. I remember her now. A very accomplished and impressive woman.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joycelyn_Elders

They don't care about the fetus, either, if they did they would support prenatal care, but they don't want to pay a penny more in taxes.
How long before Idaho restricts which kind of Christian doctors will get to practice medicine there? Will Catholics, Mormons, etc. get shown the door, too?
Christians will always turn on their own when they're done with everyone else.
They won't ban Mormons. Idaho is too close to Utah
I have been told that Utah Mormons think the many Idaho Mormons are way too serious about the whole thing. Like, even they worry about them being so severe.
Well, they aren’t ’true christians”.

Christains like these evil fanatics spell woman as R.I.B.
Funny, but I don't recall Jesus putting conditions on people before healing them.
Maybe the "Religion of Love" In Idaho needs to re-read the gospels.
“Re-read” assumes that they read them even once.
I was being generous. :)
I was going with 'facetious'.
I wonder if the hospital is interested in providing care for these patients that have no options. Perhaps they can provide a shuttle service to the town to deliver the women the thirty miles for care. Have a clinic day for Idahoans prenatal care once a week that provides transportation. Idaho is the state that criminalized doing exactly that.
Of course they did.
Maybe a mobile care van as well.
A mobile care fan for rural communities would be HUGE, and I'd bet in considerable demand. More than one would very swiftly be needed.
Yes!
But they will also need to provide transport out of state for those seeking certain care or requiring more than what the mobile service can offer.
Ah but the governor denied that they had to airlift critically ill patients, to other states for emergency care, thus the EMTALA suit.
A few years ago, a ‘crisis pregnancy center’ opened across the street from a local Planned Parenthood. It was complete with nasty protestors harassing clinic patients and a Mary statue on the front porch.

Planned Parenthood reflect reason and care. Crisis Pregnancy Centers know NOTHING about either of those concepts.
Not crisis, chrISIS.
The woman who funded the cpc scam was an absolute loon. It ended up killing her small business.
How is that legal? Why is it Christians are allowed to discriminate against others but if a Christian is fired for harassing people, suddenly they're the victims?
Christian Fucking Privilege. Thanks to der OrangeFührer, they are doing it openly now.

No gay doctors in Idaho? Didn't Jesus cure the pais (Greek for "young male lover") of a Roman Centurion (a Gentile) with no questions asked?
Evangelicals like these tend NOT to read for detail, or actually DIG INTO THE STORY. Fact is, they almost certainly don't know THAT story at all.
"Jesus" even challenged the religious leaders by reminding them that even they would get their donkey or ox out of a ditch on the Sabbath.
Jesus was probably the only actual Christian in history.
And since HE never existed... ;)

His replies today are very intentionally obtuse.
The text I read refers to servant not necessarily a lover.
