The absurdly misnamed pro-life movement is pro death penalty, anti gun control, anti universal health care and never seems to have met a war they didn’t love. They quit caring about the children they’re supposedly protecting the moment they’re breathing on their own. This movement is anti-woman and is all about controlling them any way they can.
Well and properly done. Big thanks to Newport Hospital District for slamming the door on 7B Care and their retrogressive faith statements. This is what needs to happen, not just in Idaho, but nationwide. Tolerance for this brand of blind dogma has to end. At least one hospital system has taken a stand, and I appreciate that.
I am not. "Crisis pregnancy centers" are dishonest by nature, lying about the risks of abortion, the effects of abortion, and the quality of medical staff available. The most a pregnant individual could expect from them is a pregnancy test, a pack of diapers, and maybe an ultrasound administered by the highest qualified medical person there -- the ultrasound technician. If they're lucky, ther might be an actual nurse.
Out of the 50k or so OB-GYNs in the US, they would be lucky to find 100 that are anti-abortion and would sign their statement of faith. How many of those would move to Potatoland?
The cruelty is the point. It was NEVER about "unborn children". It was always about control.
I doubt highly that the ultrasound technician is actually qualified as an ultrasound technician. Most everyone in most CPCs are church volunteers. They have enough politicians in their pockets to avoid any truth in advertising and certification requirements in all other aspects, they rarely have doctors in the building (they claim there are doctors on staff, but only ever in the on paper sort of way, never in the there’s one in the building way). They’ve never been upfront with patients, why would we believe they’re being upfront with the hospital?
Exactly. I think there was a case recently where a CPC did an “ultrasound” and failed to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, causing a life threatening emergency for the patient. I’m sure it happens all the time and we don’t hear about it.
I can't remember the condition, but there as a similar story where the ultrasound "technician" gave the patient a diagnosis of definitively X (or not X) except that whatever condition is not detectable by ultrasound.
And to boot CPCs often violate HIPAA laws, share your records with anti abortion orgs, and track your pregnancy. Somehow they get a pass with “freedom of speech” for all of it.
Idaho voters are in the Find Out stage. Finding out in this case means potentially dying but they are probably okay with that since they think they will meet jesus instead of the reality of meeting decomposition.
My former representative in the MO state legislature, Bob Onder, was one of those. He is an anti-abortion zealot who was a practicing OB-GYN before getting into politics (probably in hopes of being able to vote for state anti-abortion laws). Now he’s moved up to Congress, where he’s another Xtian Nationalist and ardent Trump booster. I cannot fathom any woman ever having wanted him as her doctor.
Did you read the story about a lady who had an ectopic pregnancy? She had gone to one of those places and they had done an ultrasound. Either they missed the ectopic pregnancy or they saw it and lied to her, because they did not tell her that she needed to get urgent care, because ectopic pregnancies are dangerous.
Afterwards, they apparently said that their ultrasounds weren't 'medical', they were 'for educational purposes only'.
I think they want white babies and don’t care if anyone else dies. If some poor whites die in the process, oh well. That baby will go to a good Christian family.
Isn't that the state where the AG went to court, because he did not want his state to adhere to Emtala? His name is Rokita, I don't know whether he's Idaho, I just remembered his name.
Also, either he or someone connected to him claimed that there have not been any occasions where women had to be flown by helicopter to elsewhere, because they had emergencies which the doctors were not allowed to treat. There have been such occasions, they were lying!
In this regard I - again - want to give a shoutout to Jessica Valenti and her 'Abortion Every Day' newsletter, it's on Substack. She tracks reproductive medicine and related issues across the country.
“It’s what always happens when the people who don’t value women’s health take control of it.”
It’s what happens when the people who don’t value women take control. Remember, these people are saying things like “women are people that people come out of”. To these folks we are just vending machines, put in nice coins and sex falls out and then later a baby falls out.
Also, remember that most states are adopting strict abortion bans after several years of watching women die horribly in Texas from a lack of access to reproductive healthcare. Bleeding out in hospital parking lots, dying of sepsis in emergency rooms waiting for a doomed “heartbeat” to stop, or dying waiting for a D&C after a live birth when the placenta doesn’t deliver completely. The maternal and infant mortality rate in Texas shot up like 30% or more after their ban went into effect, and these other states said “hold my beer, I can make it higher.”
How is that legal? Why is it Christians are allowed to discriminate against others but if a Christian is fired for harassing people, suddenly they're the victims?
“Christian love” at work again. Christian apologists who show up here to claim NALT are complicit in discrimination against LGBTQ people. Your cult is a cult of death and hate.
I bet those who are suffering the most in rural areas of Idaho are members of the Republican Party who allowed all this slop to happen. Kudos to Washington for rejecting such crap entirely.
Good for my state of Washington. Reason prevails.
In most places other than Tri-Cities, anyway.
Yup

There are a LOT more to go.

I just mentioned this case.
I suspect you also subscribe to Jessica Valenti?

You'll have come across the story about the lady with the ectopic pregnancy getting an ultrasound at one of those places?
And to boot CPCs often violate HIPAA laws, share your records with anti abortion orgs, and track your pregnancy. Somehow they get a pass with “freedom of speech” for all of it.

I love Find Out stage. No “actual doctors” 🥴 and existing in a healthcare desert 🏜️

Probably why he had to move to politics, he couldn’t get patients to trust him.

Honestly, I think they want women to die.
After all, if a woman dies in childbirth, well, she died for her baby and that's "beautiful martyrdom". She died doing "her purpose".
And then her husband is free to go check out the latest models of replacements conveniently located at the local church youth group
I think they want white babies and don’t care if anyone else dies. If some poor whites die in the process, oh well. That baby will go to a good Christian family.
You will produce live babies, and die trying.
Such cynicism.
I love it.
In their minds there is a ‘surplus’ of wimmen. It’s the “modest proposal’ of the modern era.
excuse me while I go throw up my strawberry yogurt and coffee ...
Doesn't that Statement of Faith positively scream "Establishment of religion?"
Bullhorns and PA systems come to mind. 📢
They are a Christian (Nationalist) nonprofit, so technically it isn't, but since they are the only game in town, it effectively is.
Idaho's abortion bans is going to kill women. They don't care about dead women, as long as they have a live fetus.
They don't even care about that.

Dr. Joycelyn Elders, a gift from Arkansas, warned us about America's love affair with the fetus back in the 90s.

Christian Fucking Privilege. Thanks to der OrangeFührer, they are doing it openly now.
No gay doctors in Idaho? Didn't Jesus cure the pais (Greek for "young male lover") of a Roman Centurion (a Gentile) with no questions asked?
Evangelicals like these tend NOT to read for detail, or actually DIG INTO THE STORY. Fact is, they almost certainly don't know THAT story at all.
"Jesus" even challenged the religious leaders by reminding them that even they would get their donkey or ox out of a ditch on the Sabbath.
Funny, but I don't recall Jesus putting conditions on people before healing them.
Maybe the "Religion of Love" In Idaho needs to re-read the gospels.
“Re-read” assumes that they read them even once.
I was being generous. :)
I was going with 'facetious'.
“Christian love” at work again. Christian apologists who show up here to claim NALT are complicit in discrimination against LGBTQ people. Your cult is a cult of death and hate.
Idaho is other-worldly backward when it comes to its politics. It's like the Texas of the north.
As dystopian as Tex-ass is, this may be an insult to the state. Texas does have some pockets of sanity...
Texas gave us Ann Richards, Molly Ivins, LBJ, Willy Nelson for starters.
ChrISIS propaganda distributers need to be shut down for fraud. Those gilead loving creatures have no business being allowed to exist. Period.
"Life Choices Pregnancy Center has always operated as a Christian, faith-based ministry."
Then why do you need doctors? Faith not strong enough? Prayers not working?
Why do they need a clinic? Just send everyone to the church.
I bet those who are suffering the most in rural areas of Idaho are members of the Republican Party who allowed all this slop to happen. Kudos to Washington for rejecting such crap entirely.
