Conservative Christians Are Praying to Change the Election Outcome
God's will isn't good enough for the MAGA cult.

A few women wearing MAGA hats showed up to the Clark County election department in Nevada last night to pray for a Trump win. Either God is omniscient and knows Joe Biden is winning, or He isn’t. Either God is omnipotent and chose Biden as the winner, or He isn’t. It’s doubtful these women would agree with the latter on either supposition, so it’s unclear why they’re so arrogant to believe they know better than God’s will on the matter.
Women just arrived at the Clark County election department. They tell me they’re praying justice will be done and that righteousness prevails.(Do you think they’ve ever prayed this hard to cure COVID?)
More of the same: Christians trying to undo God’s will. (We’re going to have this same story on repeat until Biden’s inauguration, I have a feeling.)
Pastor George Pearsons spoke on behalf of God during a live broadcast of the election coverage. God (allegedly) said:
“‘I’m not happy. I’m not happy with what you’re doing to my nation, and I’m not happy about what you’re doing to my man,’ now he’s speaking about Mr. Trump right there, ‘He has yielded to me. He’s endeavored to follow my word. And I am not happy with this that is going on right now.’”
…
“Lord, we’re gonna see you work. We’re gonna see you work in the midst of this. And we invoke the name of Jesus and take authority over the powers and the principalities and the spirit of communism that is trying to infiltrate, overtake, and attack this nation right now. You bow your knee to the name of the Lord Jesus! You hear the voice of the Lord through this man of God. You have no authority in this. Watch me work.”
It’s funny how God is just like Trump— He only likes a democracy when it bends toward His own preference.
George Pearsons’ wife, Pastor Terri Pearsons, took the pulpit to echo a similar sentiment, calling for “some party switchers in Jesus’s name,” so that House Democrats will flip Republican to give the GOP the majority.
Do you feel any sympathy for the Trump cultists who are on the verge of losing their leader…?
Speaking of Pastor Greg Locke, we finally made use of our screenshot library. (You may need to click on the tweet to see the whole thread.)
I wasn’t kidding about this theme! Christian Nationalist panic is reaching fever pitch!
Here’s Trump‘s “spiritual adviser” Paula White asking God to overturn votes cast in the “anti-Christ spirit” (i.e. by Democrats).
The conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court is already making things worse than we imagined. Now it’s baiting Christian activists, like Felecia Townes of Florida, to bring on challenges to longstanding legal precedents. The U.S. Supreme Court declared school-sponsored prayer unconstitutional in 1962, but Townes has started a petition to bring forced prayer back to schools.
“We see a rise in bullying and suicidal thoughts without prayer, and so we believe that prayer goes back into the school,” said Townes. “We believe that it will eradicate all bullying, all depression.”
Her son, 11th-grader Michael, supports her cause, saying school “feels disappointed and lifeless without prayer.”
The U.S. also banned asbestos from public school buildings in 1980, but that doesn’t mean an uptick in bullying and depression correlates with its absence.
This is exciting news: All 13 members of the Congressional Freethought Caucus won their re-election bids!
Christian bigot Chris “Helmet Guy” Vanderweide, who assaulted people with a helmet at a Toronto Pride, has been arrested again, while on probation, no less, for threatening members of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network online.
So at least there’s some justice in the world.
