"They saw the verse they liked and they ran with it. "

Isn't this pretty always the case with Christians? I suspect it is the root cause of why the staggering number of Christian denominations exists. The God who intervened to save the most grotesquely immoral President in our history, sat out the Holocaust, never stopped a school shooting, and never prevented a member of the clergy from raping a child. I'm less than impressed with God's priorities. Definitely not a god I could ever worship.

No, I wouldn't worship such a god even if it were definitely proven to exist. (No evidence that any such being ever has existed.) Accept it as real--yes. Debase myself--nope.

I mean Revelation 13:2-4 is right there.

A man who speaks blasphemies. The man of sin. A liar whose father is the devil the father of lies. Who speaks arrogant words and seeks to persecute the least of these, whom Jesus identified as his brothers and sisters. Who has survived a head wound...

I mean, come on... none of you Evangelicals see that?

Hulk Hogan apparently reprised his WWE persona to hype up Trump. The only reason I know about this is because someone made a meme (I can’t find it in a format I can post here) with him tearing his shirt over the image of the Terry Crews character doing a similar hype up from either Idiocracy or Don’t Look Up.

Anyway, the RNC is more than just a shit show in Milwaukee.

It was in my newspaper this morning. He sported a TRUMP VANCE MAGA t-shirt. Willing to bet that rag wasn't made in America.

I started watching Hogan's nearly 10-minute appearance but couldn't stomach it for more than a minute. If he doesn't think his "hero" is going to body slam the US if he gets put back in the White House, then those steroids he popped like candy did a bigger number on him than I thought.

I know it's not in keeping with symbolic nonsense of 6:11, but I believe it is instructive, Matthew 5:45, "He gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good and he sends rain down on the just and the unjust too."

That is, just because you have a miraculous escape from death, that does not mean that God has kept you safe because of all the good work you are doing. A brush with death is a reminder that we are all mortal and you may want to stop all the evil things you are doing.

Let’s see…. Number of abortions he has paid for? Nah, too low. Number of children he is known to have? True but … look at them. Meh. Number of terms he wants to serve as president? Too old.

I’m sure it will be revealed to us when we are ready to understand and discern the true meaning.

It never fails to amaze (and amuse) me how much some Christians will go to any lengths to take a number or sequence of numbers and try to explain how Yahweh somehow wanted THOSE NUMBERS to mean something. It rather a form of numeric pareidolia ... and it's foolish and juvenile and mostly a desperate attempt by them to show others how active their god is in their lives.

Of course, it shows up the most when the shit hits the fan, as it did the other day when poor Donnie got shot at, and naturally, his s̵h̵e̵e̵p̵ followers wanted to try to give some meaning to the event, so they come up with a verse out of their favorite holy book. Honestly at this point, I don't know whether to laugh or shrug my shoulders at all of this.

The ONE thing I wish I could do is ignore him and them ... but the way things are going right now, none of us can afford that.

The one who admitted on tape to stealing top secret documents then turned around and denied it in the news? They want so badly to prove to the rest of us that he’s the chosen one, they will do anything to convince us. The problem is that they’re using the Bible to do it. Here’s why it’s not gonna work for them:

*The Bible isn’t convincing to large swathes of people (not everyone is a part of their little book club)

*Those who do believe the Bible are never on the same page about what any given verse really means

*The same group of folks using the Bible now to convince us of Trump’s divinity have been using the same tactics to bully and abuse people they don’t like — turning any decent person, believer or not, away from trusting them with Bible verses

*This is all arbitrary as Hemant said in the article

I’m sure there are more, feel free to add your own.

If I had a nickel for every time I had to listen to an hour of preaching about this 'putting on the full armor of God' nonsense, I'd never need to work again.

Truth be told, this is exactly the sort of too often quoted verse that worries me when next November rolls around. Nobody puts on armor unless they expect a fight, and as bad as January 6th was, I expect this round to be worse. I hope I'm wrong, I really want to be wrong. I'm terrified that if Trump loses, his MAGA supporters won't be able to accept that and will stage a far more serious attempt at forcibly overturning the election results. To be clear, 𝑰 𝒏𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑹𝒆𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔.

Trump is a convicted felon at this point. There is zero reason to allow him to run at all in my opinion, and yet, here we are. The same crowd that demands politicians be 'tough on crime!!!11!!!' are going to vote for a felon who will commit crimes in the future if given the opportunity. I weep for the future of the United States.

I have a theory about why he was wounded and it doesn't involve a sky faerie at all or verses from some book. The shooter was not a person trained in dealing out death. Therefore the odds of missing were not low.

Technically, he was trained; he belonged to a gun club and went there fairly often.

However he did not make it onto either the JV or V shooting team in HS, so evidently he just wasn't very good at it.

Ahhh. Ok. I missed that piece of information. What would he have learned at a gun club? I admit ignorance in this aspect. The only exposure I have ever had to guns is my father was an RCMP officer (so some kind of tactical training, so I guess that's where my brain went with 'training') and hunting of water fowl and big game where I am (deer, elk, moose etc.) Also not from the US..
