Schumer needs to go because he is useless in the struggle against Trump and the Nat-Cs. All Chuck has is ineffectual speeches. That they are speeches based on bull completely manufactured by Chuck's fevered imagination is just icing on the cake.

Runfastandwin's avatar

TBF he does write sternly worded letters…

Zorginipsoundsor's avatar

Yep, he is stuck in the (early) 80's, before repukelicans went batshit cra cra.

It's really painful watching the Democrats in 2026. On one side you have feckless moderates like Schumer and Pelosi who are SO out-of-touch with their voter base that they spend more time pandering to a non-existent (or at least once existing) centre-right voter base than actually implementing policy that would improve the Democrats' popularity (FDR & LBJ are rollin' in their graves); On the flip side you have a self proclaimed "Tea Party" of far-left cranks who parade around with terrorist sympathizers that spout propaganda for authoritarian regimes that are arbitrarily deemed sufficiently anti-west (i.e., going to bat for Russia, the CCP, Cuba, and Venezuela). Downplaying authoritarian sympathies is what led to Trump's fascist administration, and merely calling your self a "socialist" doesn't make those red flags disappear.

Nick Fish's avatar

It's genuinely outrageous that he's continued doing this for more than 20 years. Glad people are finally calling him on it.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Thank you for calling his bizarre propaganda what it is...a lie!.

Here’s hoping that Schumer can retire soon and with dignity, rather than being remembered the way that Dianne Feinstein, Strom Thurmond, Chuck Grassley, and Mitch McConnell (hanging on in desperation at the end, long past when they could serve their constituents the way they ought) all inevitably will be remembered by posterity.

Oh, we're just making up quotes to push our political agendas? Well Okay,

"Universal healthcare, a living wage, strong anti-trust laws and a viciously brutal death tax are as American as bald eagle pie"

— Abraham Washington

Abraham Washington crossed the Delaware to fight vampires.

nmgirl's avatar

He should have flown. It was down right nippy that night.

John Boyd's avatar

I know, right? After the Continental Army retook the airports from the Red Coats Washington had total air dominance like the world had never seen. All of the great historians are saying that.

I liked the book, so many people said the movie sucked so I didn't bother with it.

I remember that quote from my 6th grade civics class. It has guided my political thinking for the last 66 years. We should all be grateful to President Abraham Washington for his astute leadership of our country.

I saw the Bailey’s in a movie starring James Stewart. So they’re real.

As for God’s noble experiment, what on earth does that mean, exactly? Slavery wasn’t noble. Genocide wasn’t noble. Theft wasn’t noble. Institutionalized segregation wasn’t noble. Revolution against the divine right of Kings established by God wasn’t noble.

And in paraphrasingthe immortal words of James Tiberius Kirk, what does God need with an experiment? He already knows the outcome. And besides, democracy isn’t God‘s experiment because the God of the Old Testament is hardly a democrat. Even a small D Democrat.

larry parker's avatar

Large D Dictator.

Charles Newman's avatar

"God’s noble experiment" looks like MAGA dogma, and Chuck has no clue.

Pyper's avatar

This guy really needs to go! Along with all the other "reach across the aisle" centrist dems. We need our representatives to represent us and stop shaking hands and buddying-up with the Christian Nationalists that want to take away our rights and freedoms, and ultimately destroying everything our country should stand for.

Freedom is nothing less than our right to choose our own paths while supporting less fortunate people to do the same - and we can be so much more!

This is a fight and we need fighters!

Joan the Dork's avatar

Time to retire, Chuck. Go yell at a cloud somewhere and let someone with a spine and a brain do the job you and the gerontocracy you epitomize couldn't.

NOGODZ20's avatar

Old Republicans and Democrats stay in office far longer than they should. They like the power of the position, so they do everything they can to hold onto it (see Mitch McConnell).

larry parker's avatar

Even in a coma he's still the Senate Majority Leader.

NOGODZ20's avatar

Yup. It's like a drug.

Charles Newman's avatar

"Time to retire" Agreed, and time for term limits. Let others share in the plunder and pillage of the United States.

In Chuck We Trust 😆🤪

Troublesh00ter's avatar

I'm with American Atheists 100% on this one. Schumer has basically been talking out of his ass regarding "God's noble experiment," and he absolutely should be corrected.

He also should resign from the Senate. His efficacy as minority leader has been questionable at best, and inept at worst. After the 2026 elections, regardless of whether Democrats retake the Senate or not, we need new leadership in that position.

And we need it badly.

larry parker's avatar

"Democrats deserve so much better than what they’re getting from him."

Democrats got what they voted for.

Primary all "centrist democrats".

Len Koz's avatar

Many members of the Democratic machine are worried by the recent primary wins of Democratic Socialists. Oh no! The Democrats might have to actually get off their keisters and do something to stop fascism! The horror!

Boreal's avatar

Schumer is my senator and a huge failure against christian fascists. It's long since past time for him to step aside for someone willing to take on the Turd Reich.

Boreal's avatar

The fact that I have to call his or Gillibrand's office to tell them to never vote for any trump nominee for any position ever, is quite upsetting to me.

Kay-El's avatar

What the fuck, Chuck? 🙄

But praise for John Oliver who’s one of the few that can make me annoyed at political bullshit and laugh at the same time.

larry parker's avatar

You just slip out the back, Jack

Make a new plan, Stan

What the fuck, Chuck

You don't need to be coy, Roy

Kay-El's avatar

Just listen to me 🎼

Guerillasurgeon's avatar

I think Oliver is great. He was a pretty mediocre comedian in Britain, but he really seems to have hit is straps with that program of his. I watch it all the time.

NOGODZ20's avatar

He’s a grad of The Daily Show. When Jon Stewart was away from the show filming “Rosewater,” Oliver took over the desk for 8 weeks and 32 episodes. That run was highly praised by critics and is the very reason he got his own show.

Guerillasurgeon's avatar

That would explain it. I've seen him on at least one British topical news show, called Mock the Week – which is one of the funniest things I've ever seen but he sort of bombed on it. Mind you he had competition from people like Frankie Boyle, and apparently they were very, very competitive to get their own jokes in the half-hour segment. So maybe he was swamped.

NOGODZ20's avatar

So "God's Noble Experiment" involved fighting a revolution to ESCAPE a Christian Empire and a king who believed he had a divine right to rule us from 3,000 miles away (not to mention establishing a SECULAR, not Christian, government)? Forgive me if I seem a bit confused, Chucky.

(Sorry for the late reply. This article's been up for nearly 3 hours and I'm only just now seeing it. I really wish Hemant would stop posting multiple articles a day at random hours. It makes it hard to keep up)

I'll give Chuckie the benefit of the doubt about the founders. After all, he was there.

larry parker's avatar

Yeah, but he was wearing a red coat.

OT: Another report from my field trip to Christian Post

They are hot-n-bothered about aliens and UFOs (showing my age) for some reason. 3-4 articles recently. By far the most hilarious is why aliens seem to hate Christianity.

https://www.christianpost.com/voice/why-do-aliens-seem-to-hate-christianity.html?clickType=link-most-popular

The leading “reason” is that aliens are just demons and not ETs. The comment thread is hilarious if you find this sort of thing funny.

Maltnothops's avatar

I went thru a UFO/alien phase when I was 13 or 14. But then I got over it. That biblical line about being child-like is just so on the nose.

larry parker's avatar

If they hate christianity, why are most (I'm guessing) abductees christian?

Maltnothops's avatar

Also, one of the skeptics in the comments wanted to know why they mostly probe hicks.

Maltnothops's avatar

Let’s not use logic, please?

larry parker's avatar

Sorry, sometimes I can't help myself.

Maltnothops's avatar

It’s a VERY bad habit.

Guerillasurgeon's avatar

It wants me to login to comment. If not I would have taken the piss unmercifully. Alien abductions – Jesus Christ what a load of bollocks. Without context I would have thought it was satire.

Maltnothops's avatar

Yup, that’s a compromise I’ve made.

One of my guiding principles as a commenter is to take anyone’s claims at face value — and to expect the same in return. My assertions about leprechauns are just as valid as their assertions about their god.

Tim Hoag's avatar

I scrolled all the way to the bottom to find The Bailey’s. Chuck is a very strange man and, sadly, very ineffective as Senate Leader. The frightening thing is I think these untruths are such an imbedded part of his narratives that I wonder if he actually believes them himself. He should not be continuing in his position with these strange lies. The democrats are providing hardly any pushback against the p2025 agenda and Chuck is leading the NON-charge

XJC's avatar

Hint: He's in the Senate.

Guerillasurgeon's avatar

Not that I know a huge amount about American politics – though probably more than a lot of foreigners – but it seems to me that some people are getting a little impatient with Chucky's spineless attitude towards the Trump regime? Isn't that why Mamdani was elected in New York against all the odds?

Edit: just read the rest of the comments. I see I'm correct.😇
