I suppose that there are many who are trying to demonstrate how holy they are by preaching to a captive audience. Some may be sincere but in I Peter 3:15, we are told to be able to talk to others about the hope we but to do so with gentleness and respect. There's little of gentleness or respect in what these airline preachers are doing.
You are probably referring to Matthew 10:14 - "If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet." That was part of specific instructions given by Jesus to his disciples but I don't think that it's applicable in general. Jesus' instructions to them also included the commands to not take any money and to avoid the Gentiles and Samaritans. Others disagree. If someone tells me that they have no interest in religion then I don't press the issue but I don't think that because some in a forum have no interest in what I say that I should stop posting in that forum.
Flying has been reduced to a miserable experience so I rarely do it any more. I would seriously be looking in to suing the airline that allowed this to happen. The deluded preachers always operate under the assumption everyone wants to hear what they have to say.
Further Thought: If this trend continues (and I have no reason to think it won't), the airlines need to establish some hard and firm parameters for passenger behavior while in the air. Public displays of ANY sort, with the possible exception of things like Pilot's Last Flight (which I was present for once!) and things of that nature, should be forbidden, with the added consequence of arrest upon arrival.

This also reminds me of the quora question that got so much traction (I tried looking it up again but wasn’t able to find it quickly) about why everyone gets angry when they shared the gospel and the answer that went viral was that it was a trap. That the response was the purpose of spreading the gospel, go out to “the world” speak “the Truth” and people get angry or treat you poorly then go back to your safe church and everyone comforts you, proving “the world” is harsh and cruel and stay safe in the church. It’s a mind fuck intentionally.

No one should have to suffer through an unwanted harangue just because their personal space is sardined into a flying can.
