Isn't bearing false witness like a huge sin? The fact that this dude still says he would lie all over again and deceive people around him is insane. He still hasn't learned anything. All around just a terrible human being.
They rarely DO learn. Jim Bakker didn't. Kenneth Copeland still hasn't. Their brand of religion is, to me at least, a not-so-rare form of madness that may be difficult if not impossible to shake.
Maybe we need to start a 12-Step group. EA - Evangelicals Anonymous?
Oh, PUL-LEASE! If we're going to do ANYTHING like a religious detoxification program, let's make it FACT-BASED! Those at least have some chance of working.
You mean getting Real? "The Twelve Steps to Responsibility, Facts, Truth, Respect and Do No Harm". The Higher Power is accepting yourself, not judging others and not forcing others to do as you say.
Sorry-not-sorry, but 1) 12-step programs are notorious for having a LOUSY recidivism rate and 2) "Higher power" around here too often tends to refer to one form of deity or another.
And we're not having any. Go peddle your papers elsewhere.
Traditional, maybe, but the Eighth Amendment doesn't like it much. If Robinson had bilked anyone out of their money, he should be put to work to return every last dime. What Robinson did here, more than anything else, is LIE, then later, fail to repudiate his lies in toto.
I really don't know what the punishment should be that fits that crime.
Jesus may have forgiven them their sins, but somehow, I doubt that the justice system did anything similar for their crimes. It's that dichotomy that they don't get, and you pretty well have to rub their noses in it to get them to GET IT at all.
People like Robinson amaze me for their fear of the "S" and the "P" word. Sex to evangelicals is bad enough, but mixed with porn, it's like a third rail – no one wants to admit to touching it. The problem is that, more than likely, ALL OF THEM 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘.
And after all his protestations to the contrary, that Robinson did finally come forward frankly doesn't do much to redeem him.
I suspect that, more than anything else, he needs to GET A LIFE. Find a hobby (other than porn!), and find something to do that won't drive the rest of us nuts.
The problem is that his sickness is a heap of personality disorders... they are notoriously difficult to treat. And they cause an enormous amount of damage in society.
Whenever some christian hypocrite gets caught, their excuse is ALWAYS that they did it to help someone else. They portray their lying as some kind of noble act. Every. Time.
Mark Robinson and his fraudster wife are low-lifes. My fear is that this interview is him dipping his toe back into NC politics. HELL, NO!
I recently watched a video by the knitting cult lady, Daniella Mastenak, she was born into The Children of God cult and also was an officer in the US Army as a captain and was one of the first women allowed in combat. In the video I’m talking about she addresses this exact thing about lying for Jesus, she doesn’t call it that, stating that it is not a sin because people not in the cult/religion are not people and lying is only wrong when you lie to people. Then there’s the mission, that to accomplish the mission the means justify the ends. When I saw the video, I immediately thought of you all because this is a frequent theme in our comment sections. Religious folks lie so easily despite it being one of the top ten no-nos. The lying is an inherent part of the foundation of the cult and they cannot function without lies.
The modern Republican Party has always had this cult like quality, especially since Reagan, and the MAGA movement has only turned it up to 11. The GOP has been in bed with the evangelicals and more extreme fundy elements of Christianity for a while, and this no holds barred attitude toward achieving their mission isn’t new. The lies are a part of the system. Not that the Democratic Party doesn’t lie, it’s just that the GOP does it so much more, almost naturally. I nearly always assume the first thing out of a GOP mouth is a lie, and it takes serious pressure to get the truth, even on things that don’t need to be lied about.
Then there’s the projection from the GOP. I mean IMAX has nothing on a Republican politician. Even taking out Trump, the majority of republicans will accuse democrats and marginalized people of the worst behaviors, and when you look into them in the shallowest of investigations, you will find them the culprits instead. I mean, how long have we heard of democrats eating babies for the adrenachrome (whatever it is) and now the Epstein files show that some of the biggest GOP politicians and supporters were doing just that. But that’s just the big stuff. The folks making the most noise about LGBTQ people molesting children are nearly always found to be raping kids, the RCC, the Duggars, numerous GOP lawmakers and candidates. This guy is just another in a long line of GOP projectionists.
I was lucky enough to visit Havana when Obama was in office and went to the original Sloppy Joe's and the Sloppy Joe's were amazing, Washed down with a Cuba Libre.
Had a great time. The restaurant was perfectly preserved with all the pictures of the Hollywood stars and famous people who had visited. It was like walking into a time capsule from the 1950's.
I'll quibble with you a bit on when the GOP started going so extreme. Reagan certainly had a bit of ends-justifies-means to him with Iran Contra, but I think it was really Newt Gingrich in the 90s that shifted the party into win-at-any-cost, break-all-social-norms mode. In my mind, he's the real "father" of current GOP strategy.
To clarify the dehumanization note that you say is extreme, this was the explanation the knitting cult lady expressed in the video. I am not totally convinced of it, though I do trust her expertise. I think it is more of a way to justify their lies. But I also see an awful lot of the right claiming certain citizens aren’t real Americans or real patriots just to make it okay for ICE and the regime to trample their human rights for just being on the left or not agreeing 100% with every single tiny point from Trump. In much the same way Christians will automatically jump in with a “not a real Christian” any chance they get. And honestly, it is the thinking that brought us chattel slavery so the conservatives have always used that excuse for all kinds of horrendous behavior.
I still remember seeing Trump flinch when Tim Scott came out from behind someone onstage at a Trump rally. Trump had a look on his face like, "How did a black guy get up here?", and I'm being polite in the term Trump probably thought upon seeing Senator Scott.
How anyone is too toxic for Assmouth is a stretch. Is there anything Assmouth has done that isn't a shocker? To me, he is the worst person I have ever had to know too much about. The list is so long, I no longer contemplate it. He no longer surprises me. There is no bottom with tfg.
If all I knew about Robinson was that he referred to himself as a ‘black Nazi’ that would be enough. What kind of a human being makes a statement like that? I wonder if he realizes the Civil Rights Act wouldn’t get a single Republican vote if introduced today.
It's Self Loathing learned in a ridiculous social construct made by those you have been forced or learned to accept as your 'betters'. He's a seriously ill person.
What's also upsetting for me is there are so many women that accept and do the dirty work for Patriarchy over their/our bodies and lives just as fervently. People have been trained for hundreds and hundreds of years to accept what is empirically wrong for the human species and world in everyway. It's worse for a person if they join a patriarchal organization such as religion (most religions), government and, well I can't list them all for patriarchy is ingrained into everyday life.
Conservative woman amaze me as well. It's as if they have no understanding of what their status in the world would be today had conservatives gotten their way.
They probably “think” that they would be exempt from the rules and restrictions that a Christian fascist theocracy would impose on society! Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense for them to support the Christian fascist movement!
Most of the completely blue states are still okay, and even saving women from red states. But it would still be a concern.
During all my fertile years, abortion was legal everywhere and nobody who wasn't Catholic questioned it until surprisingly recently. I'm glad to have lived in blue states, and still am.
Xtians will accept any behavior as long as they can claim it is god's plan or god's will. They are also dumb as dirt. I watched a documentary on the 12 Tribes cult last night. I knew of their existence since they have local sects in my region.
In the documentary a father, who had left the cult, told of how the cult wanted to beat his children, so he let them, how they made him beat his children, he did, how two of his children were injured by the slave labor practices of the cult and denied medical care, he was fucking okay with all that. All "god's will".
Finally he was expelled from the cult and his children and wife not allowed to leave. That's when he finally decided it was a cult. Two of his sons were expelled as they got older and came to live with him.
He was still blathering on about god and what god wants after all this.
A young girl lost her hand in a meat processing accident: slave labor and was told it was also god's will, punishment for her "sins." She escaped on her own and now her parents, still in the cult, have no contact with her.
In my mind, the bigger hypocrisy here is "GOP will accept any behavior as long as they can win an election." Not that he didn't withdraw when all this came out, he just lost.
Wow. Their own children? How do you have a child and let other people convince you to abuse it. I know all of the reasons people cite, but seriously, I don't know how exactly anyone doesn't just walk away.
The brains are tortured into not questioning anything the cult says. Remember Debbie and Daniel Pearl's baby-beating guide "to train a child" They claim you have to break their spirit (by beating the natural curiosity out of the poor thing) Blanket traiing a/k/a beat the kid when they try to explore their area. Torture them enough, and their brains can't develop properly.
Every accusation a confession. Rails against pornography at rallies? Found to be frequent public consumer of pornography. With as much as he attacked the LGBTQ community, it wouldn't surprise me if the majority of his pirn consumption was gay and trans porn.
No shit. His Public Apology to the Ceiling shouldn't be anywhere near enough to rehabilitate his image, but there are enough both gullible rubes and fellow Nazis in his party that will give him confidence to try a comeback. Has he announced what office he will seek next?
Do you suppose that, if he had ever been a "black Nazi" in Germany of the 1930s and 40s, he would shortly thereafter be a black Nazi in a concentration camp?
Honestly, I'm not certain Robinson's brain works right.
"During his gubernatorial campaign, Robinson has been particularly focused on transgender people. Earlier this year, he said trans women should be arrested for using the women’s bathroom, as first reported in The Washington Post.
But on “Nude Africa,” Robinson described his affinity for watching pornography featuring trans women.
“That’s fucking hot! It takes the man out while leaving the man in!” Robinson wrote. “And yeah I’m a ‘perv’ too!”
There was a time when conservatism was a respectable and principled political attitude in the USA. Not that I happened to agree with that attitude myself, but people who held it in fact had integrity and were consistent, honest, and willing to engage in dialog and compromise. These days conservatism just means slavish devotion to whatever the latest power play is emanating from the Trump administration, and its only consistency is its willingness to do 180° reversals at a moment's notice if that's what the overlords decree. It's like Oceania's alliances with Eastasia and Eurasia flip-flopping back and forth based on Big Brother's expediency of the moment.
Responsible government spending, robust military, and minimalized government USED to be the primary pillars of conservatism and the Republican party. That began to go out the door with the advent of Ronald Reagan and obviously reached its peak with Trump, to the point where conservatism is nowhere to be found in the GOP.
And it has come to the point where the Republican party of 2026 is unrecognizable from what it was half a century ago.
Don't forget strong preference for state-level and local control (vs. federal). Real conservatives would never thought to interfere in telling state universities how to conduct their business.
Conservatives used to believe that the government that governs least is the one that governs best. They favored small government, free enterprise, and personal liberty. The title of Barry Goldwater's book "The Conscience of a Conservative" wasn't intended ironically — they actually HAD consciences and deplored oppression (well within the tradition of a party that was founded to oppose slavery).
I don't think they ever believed this. Whenever a disenfranchised group of people became less disenfranchised, conservatives fought back. We saw it with African-Americans, women, LGBTQ, non-Christians, etc. They've always been for more policing and a bigger military, which are part of the government. They don't mind a big controlling government as long as they were the ones in charge.
Just because you didn't agree with their principles (and, FWIW, neither did I) doesn't mean they didn't have them. As I noted, the original Republican Party stood up on behalf of disenfranchised people while the Democrats were still OK with slavery. And later they favored "pay your own way" for the economy. Like it or not, that's a principle. They were as gung-ho as anyone else in the country when it came to defending democracy during WW2. I could go on like this for quite awhile about the HISTORICAL Republican Party. Please don't confuse them with today's authoritarian version.
"“I like watching [transgender slur] on girl porn! That’s fucking hot! It takes the man out while leaving the man in!” Robinson wrote in one comment verified by the outlet. “And yeah I’m a ‘perv’ too!”"
I don’t want to upvote because I do not condone the act for anyone to suffer. Not even him. But yes the leopards generally eat the faces of the people closest to them first. He will not be protected and will likely be one of the first to feel the pain.
I am not saying to do that, but I was pointing out that by the time he discover that he isn’t going to be accepted by the Christian fascists; it will be too late and as you say he will be the first to suffer from it!
I find it really, really hard to have any sympathy for MAGA's problems. Wish the consequences of their stupidity only fell on them and not the majority of people who never voted for the orange moron.
Black Nazi? Robinson shows he is pig-ignorant about how Hitler and the Nazis felt toward black people. Or does he seriously think the leopards wouldn't eat HIS face?
Isn't bearing false witness like a huge sin? The fact that this dude still says he would lie all over again and deceive people around him is insane. He still hasn't learned anything. All around just a terrible human being.
They rarely DO learn. Jim Bakker didn't. Kenneth Copeland still hasn't. Their brand of religion is, to me at least, a not-so-rare form of madness that may be difficult if not impossible to shake.

One could start by taking away his platform.
There's a thought, though there's always the internet, too.
Why should they? They claim Jesus forgave them, and go back to fleecing the rubes who hold their wallets out for them.
Jesus may have forgiven them their sins, but somehow, I doubt that the justice system did anything similar for their crimes. It's that dichotomy that they don't get, and you pretty well have to rub their noses in it to get them to GET IT at all.

Mark Robinson is a seriously sick individual who most desperately needs psychological help, medication and even institutionalization.
I suspect that, more than anything else, he needs to GET A LIFE. Find a hobby (other than porn!), and find something to do that won't drive the rest of us nuts.
I think that both these sentiments are true. He needs help AND a different hobby!

The deification definitely started with Reagan, but yes Gingrich accelerated the hostility to the toxic point. So you are both correct.
"He was too toxic even for Donald Trump."
When you are perceived as being a liability to a man who (allegedly) sexually and physically assaulted a child, you know things are bad.
And I have no doubt that Trump would find it incredibly easy to distance himself from a man of Robinson's skintone.
I still remember seeing Trump flinch when Tim Scott came out from behind someone onstage at a Trump rally. Trump had a look on his face like, "How did a black guy get up here?", and I'm being polite in the term Trump probably thought upon seeing Senator Scott.

Damned good point, and an important one, considering Trump wanting to "nationalize" elections!

Conservatives have always been reactionary.
The only point of conservatism is the acquisition of power. That's it. Everything else for hundreds of years has been advert copy.

"There was a time when conservatism was a respectable and principled political attitude in the USA."
When was this? IMHO Conservatism is inherently disrespectable and unprincipled.
"He treated LGBTQ people as sexual deviants"
Mark Robinson loved him some transgender porn:
"“I like watching [transgender slur] on girl porn! That’s fucking hot! It takes the man out while leaving the man in!” Robinson wrote in one comment verified by the outlet. “And yeah I’m a ‘perv’ too!”"

Wow. You know what they say: when someone tells you who they are, believe them the FIRST time.
I predicted this earlier in the comments here, my hunch was correct. And I am not surprised.
No bet on how many times he's had his dick sucked by another person with a dick.
Lying for Jesus/Trump, sorry, that should be Trump/Jesus, is A-OK.
Blacks for Trump.
Robinson, Ben Carson, Tim Scott, Candace Owens, and 4 others.
Yes, support a party that would be more than happy to strip you of all your rights, and be more than willing to hang you if you got too “uppity”. /S
Obviously they won’t do that to me, as long as I help them.
That trick never works.
Yes, by the time this jesusfucker finds out; he will be dangling from a tree by a rope.
Some idiot's always thinking "But I'm one of the GOOD ONES."
Till the Gestapo-equivalent comes for them.
History shows they get thrown in the showers last, but they always get thrown in.
Yeah, those who ignore history repeat it.
I find it really, really hard to have any sympathy for MAGA's problems. Wish the consequences of their stupidity only fell on them and not the majority of people who never voted for the orange moron.
Yes, some have to touch the hot stove, they don’t get any concept that isn’t direct with consequences.
Snails for Salt. 🤦♂️
Chickens for Colonel Sanders.
Black Nazi? Robinson shows he is pig-ignorant about how Hitler and the Nazis felt toward black people. Or does he seriously think the leopards wouldn't eat HIS face?
One wonders what kinds of grades he got in US and world history ... and one suspects that those grades weren't all that great.
Was he homeschooled; or did he do like Trump a get someone else to do the work for him?
My sister's MIL is a proud Puerto Rican and a proud MAGAt. But the leopards won't eat her face, right?
Dear sister's MIL: I have a Mr. Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio on line 1 to laugh at you.
