Responsible government spending, robust military, and minimalized government USED to be the primary pillars of conservatism and the Republican party. And it has come to the point where the Republican party of 2026 is unrecognizable from what it was half a century ago.
Don't forget strong preference for state-level and local control (vs. federal). Real conservatives would never thought to interfere in telling state universities how to conduct their business.
