Gee, what a surprise...this skunk and his wife -- married after a two-week romance -- beat the hell out of their kids.

Talk about immense hatred for all of humanity there.

Very Christian of them.

What Would Jesus Do?

SMH.

If I remember correctly, CPS has made several visits to their home, each time concluding that "everything's fine," even when red flags have gone up.

One of the articles I read on this talked about his wife telling CPS that the kids were hiding food, so she punished them. CPS didn't follow up to find out WHY they were hiding food, just blamed on the kids growing up - yes, it was that, but ALSO because they weren't getting fed, as punishment, and not fed enough when they were. There was no reason why they shouldn't have been fed enough.

One of my sons had a girlfriend whose mother withheld food. She — the GF — was a nice young woman who had some seriously weird ideas about “normal”. I wasn’t too upset when my son broke up with her. In my long family tradition of taking in stray cats, hungry and abused children, and other folk in need of some help, my bride and I are still in touch with the ex-GF, giving her career advice and assistance and personal finance advice.

During Covid we took in a homeless 20 year old that my younger son vaguely knew who then lived with us for more than 3 years. She told us that we were the best parents she ever had.

Well during the Middle Ages when Christianity was in complete control they had the Great Chain of Being that God placed you on at birth. Started at the top with God, then Pope, Emperor, Kings, Aristocrats, Merchants, Peasants (all men so far), horses, cattle, women, children... And each level could beat the hell out of the one lower. King James totally agreed with this and the Divine Right of Kings is baked into his Bible which he had translated according to his beliefs while executing several scholars who dared to translate it without his input. By the way King James was very Gay and his love letters are available. Currently reading THE KING'S ASSASSIN by Benjamin Woolley about the Duke of Buckingham.

To help give you some context, he's in Tempe, Arizona. Tempe is sandwiched between Phoenix and "Little Salt Lake" Mesa. The religious influence here is near-absolute, it's a good chunk of the reason the state is so red most of the time to begin with.

The LDS influence in Mesa doesn't want CPS taking kids for the most part. CPS is also, to the best of my knowledge, understaffed, underfunded, and struggling with a tidal wave of cases. Many times, if someone hasn't been rushed to the ER, the caseworkers wind up prioritizing others who have been. I would also guess that Anderson's congregation has to some extent been shielding him from the law, and pretending everything's just fine.

I would like nothing better than for the Justice Dept. to come in and investigate that whole ball of insanity plus a few more problems around here. You'll note that I haven't turned blue from holding my breath, though.

Good point. In all this I appreciate the mandated reporters. I am one despite being harassed and threatened by the parents I reported because my sicko boss informed them it was me. This story you reported is extreme organized religion in a nutshell. The “preacher” with his bigoted hate using guilt and fear of the devil to lead his flock. Of course he snagged some lost woman he knew for 2 weeks and used her as a baby machine to produce a dozen babies. Then abused and tortured them all.

They are churches. They are everywhere. And yet, I have yet to meet any of these interesting people. I feel like my life is incomplete. I know a few trans people and they are so normal they are boring. They hold normal jobs. They have normal lives. They aren't trying to destroy western society. It was, sadly, a foregone conclusion that this particular sack of rancid asshair masquerading as a human being would turn out to be an abusive parent as well as just abusive in general. People with that much hate at the core of their public persona don't just park it on a shelf when they walk through their own front door. I have a sneaking suspicion that we've far from seen the end of this- or that we've even seen the worst of it yet, awful as what we already know is. If he's driven three of his children away, in fear of their lives, then it's a moneyback guarantee he's taking his fury out on the ones who remain- and will continue to do so until they escape too, or are finally rescued from that horror show he presumes to call a home.

I was a Social Worker for Children's Services. With the little I have seen and heard, those children should definitely have been removed. I lived in fear like that. It still has an effect on me today at 68. Leaving kids in that situation is WRONG and I suspect is illegal. The kids should sue the county/state for allowing on-going abuse. This is ridiculous! I hope people keep reporting him and the wife.

When people convince themselves they're operating under divine sanction, they're capable of any horror. The mentality that drove the Inquisition lives in this vile man. As awful as he is, the real problem lies with the people who delegate their thinking to him, and enable him by keeping him funded. I became an atheist nearly sixty years ago, and stories like this reaffirm what a good decision that was.

It is fair to attack grown people, no matter who their parents are, for being Nazis and bigots. Isaac may be young, but it seems like he’s an adult making adult statements.

Is it possible that we wouldn’t even blink an eye at Isaac if his father wasn’t Steven Anderson? Maybe, maybe not. Steven got the attention he has by being just as vocal with his hatred as Isaac is. He could have gotten his own attention just by being a Nazi.

Acting as though the three children who have left the home are young children is doing them a disservice. But it is typical of Christianity, specifically fundamentalist Christianity, to infantilize everyone.

Shelley’s comments about women all being irrational, talkative and dumb doesn’t even deserve attention. It is just a weak man’s attempt at cutting down others to appear bigger and stronger. Sexism, racism and general bigotry is all about small people trying to control how they’re perceived or to gain power they don’t deserve nor cannot handle.

I hope all these children can get away and find good lives without the bigotry and hatred of their parents. I’m not surprised by any of the allegations brought up by them, I might have been wrong to do it, but I assumed as much the moment I heard he had children.
