Any guesses as to which mom would be the first to complain loudly and constantly if a Muslim school employee handed out candy with the tenets of Islam attached?
I wonder if she views that as a binary attribute {moving XOR stationary} or if it's a function of speed { W(v) = v • m , where W is how much Working she's doing, v is velocity of bus, m is multiplier }. If she's backing up (negative velocity), is she losing money?
Certain Christians always seem to assume it's okay if they force their religion on people, even it involves other people's young children. These are the same people who would scream bloody murder if someone attempted to force a different religion on their own children. They just don't grasp the fact they're not the only people with rights. If Christianity had any validity, Christians wouldn't be so fixated in indoctrinating children before they're reached the age of reason.
This! They want them too young to understand what is happening (also an MO of sex offenders) or too desperate because of difficult circumstances to refuse their "assistance." They operate exactly like predators.
The first minute and a half of this YouTube vid is a Secret Service agent on how predators select their targets and why. It's scarily very much the way Christians pick the next recruits for theri cult. Kids. Single moms. Homeless. Easy targets.
That's fine, she can feel that way. But when your employer tells you it's illegal, you stop.
And if you think your employer is wrong about it being illegal and you want to challenge their order, you engage a lawyer and challenge them in discussions 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑑. You start back up again only once your lawyer has convinced the employer or the state that it's legal.
As an aside, as a parent I don't want *any* bus driver or random teacher giving my kid candy. The religious aspect is really the second problem here, not the first. The first is: you don't know their allergies. You don't know their diet. You don't know my family's rules. This is a bad idea and you should know that. Don't give out candy, period. We (kid and parents) decide what my kid eats, not you. Some trusted teacher sends me a heads' up about a food event? That works okay - I can respond yes/no as needed, ahead of time. Rando bus candy? No. I don't know you, and you didn't ever try to get permission.
But-but-but ... I follow JEZZUSS! He's the Way, the Truth, and the Life™! And these poor little kiddos will go to H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks if I don't tell them about JEZZUSS!
👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆She did this 3 times. A Halloween treat, without a Jack Chick tract, sure. But a single treat, because most parents wind up disposing of 50% of Halloween candy after a month. Party favor bags at birthday parties now include small toy cars and other non-choking hazard toys, because all the kids get enough candy from PINATA, the state animal of the Rio Grande Valley. (And even birthday parties have secular themes and games.) But doing it again at Christmas, with Kwanza, Dinali, and Channukah, is really pushing it. Not doing it for MLK Jr Day and Chinese New Year and Valentines Day/Presidents Day (Another day with wayyy too much candy) is a dead giveaway. Who still gets Good Friday off, even in South Texas? I remember afternoon church services that were at one church in town, because all the pastors were going to get church bombed on Easter. (Sunrise service at sunrise, 7:00 AM sunrise service, 9:30 regular service. Catholics of course do the big Midnight Mass with the candle procession that includes The Creation of The World to the Resurrection song that is aural torture when sung by amateurs. Enough to make you want to just stay at home with the Easter Bunny and do a hunt in the living room and say bag it to church. Read Diary of a Wimpy Kid for the story of the melted chocolate stain on the back pocket of the light pants that looks like💩.) I realize this was K-zoo, MI, but again, who gets Good Friday off? The church is open for Stations of the Cross, and it is totally lay lead. Individual prosetylizing is just plain bad manners, above and beyond being illegal. The chances to restart the Reformation in public schools is just too high. Teachers, students, Fellowship of Christian Athletes that has a breakfast not on school property, janitors, principals, everyone knows “You go to your church and I will go to mine.” Speaking of which, praying at midfield before a game is played is a howling offensive wrongo and was wrongly decided. Catholics from parochial schools pray in the locker room, and then get that Notre Dame “God is on our side swagger” (and the athletes that you poached from outside your radius sure help you win), which drives public school students into a frenzy, which is why Notre Dame is the most hated football team in the country. Showing off your faith is not evangelizing, it is bragging, and it should be outlawed before the Reformation gets started again, which is why Army quit playing Notre Dame. The six Roman Catholics on SCOTUS (Gorsuch is high church episcopal, but he is still RC at heart) are engaging in a version of “Catholics are the true Christians”, and that lacks class! The Founding Fathers wanted no Established State Church, let alone Christianity as the National Faith, precisely to keep from refighting the 30 Years War and the English Civil Wars.
BLUF: If Atheists and Agnostics and Unitarian Universalists and Satanists really want to shut up religious show-offs, we should all just get the other churches of the Reformation involved, and restart the 30 Years War!
Yeah, I would look askance at any Christian adult targeting my children. They do have a reputation of being inappropriate with kids, and the high up the chain of command the worse the behavior. Keep your preying paws off my babies.
That would really piss off parents! Especially because some jobs have a woman who shows up with a laundry basket full of kittens and who pushes a kitten on polite employees. Small living creatures deserve homes that love them, like small babies, which is why abortion should be legal and why animal rescues exist. Some people are just waayyy too pushy. Keep your Christianity to yourself, or join the Jehovah Witnesses and the Mormons, or just sell Amway or Avon or Kirby Vacuum Cleaners. After you sell the vacuum cleaner, you can try evangelizing.
I wanted to, but tRump wants Darline. (Isn't that a trucking company? "The DarLine-Shipping By LBGTQ Nepotism!!")
And tRump might just block EVERY SC voter (but one) to make that happen, so I went to the City Hall yesterday, just for that extra level of "little confidence".
And maybe for almost the first time as a South Carolina voter, perhaps my vote isn't simply to offset a MAGA voter. (Maybe, almost, perhaps; and they say men can't commit!)
I'm seeing Doctor Annie yard signs, and I'm not sure those signs would have remained for even 5 minutes.....before tRump. Apparently even MAGA actually is pretending tRump is on the ballot...which certainly has to be easier than to imagine that buying gas over food (and the reverse) is more than simply an option.
Now we can all say: Lindsay was gay! And the right wing media is saying, “Oh, it was well known.” Well, if it was well known, why couldn’t Graham be called out for hypocrisy, like his evangelical voters, when he voted against LGBTQIA+, and in favor of the Defense of Marriage Amendment? Why can’t we all throw the closeted Senator in the face of all the “it’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve” folks who kept preaching about how their religious rights required persecution of gays? They voted for a gay man, and they liked a gay man, so why can’t a gay man teach music to the high school choir?
Personally, as a 60-ish year resident of SC, I would only imagine that other than certain sheltered elderly citizens, EVERYONE knew. (The same is largely said of Tim Scott. Other than for his hypocrisy; so what?)
One can only hope that awareness will help lead to a greater acceptance. After all, there are "alphabet letters" now that aren't even necessarily connected to anything they consider to be "sinful". (Particularly A & I.)
While that shouldn't matter in the least, this seems to have devolved largely into a war of attrition.
I'm tired of the political ads on TV although there is one I like. Our Attorney General is named Bird. She's talking about taking on corporate corruption and big pharma and such. Her catch phrase is "Give them the Bird". Of course her opponent is running ads showing birdshit on a windsheild.
Also, on the way into town the other day I saw two yard signs defaced with a spray painted circle with a slash. It was funny because there were other MAGA signs next to the spraypainted one that weren't touched. Someone really hates that one cannidate.
Typical Christian attitude. "I should be able to proselytize because Jesus." This is bad enough when done to adults. Children, being generally more trusting, make matters far worse. Yet Ms. Robinson forged on anyway when confronted with her behavior, and it cost her her job.
Glad justice was served here. Too bad that the Kennedy decision muddied the water so badly. Making moron assume their proselytizing is protected when it isn’t. Kennedy was ruled wrong, imo. A fair SCOTUS would not have ruled in his favor, and non corrupt judges would never have let it get to SCOTUS.
OT, I watched Wicker on Monday. I thought it was quirky, amusing and entertaining. If you don’t take it too seriously, it’s a good movie.
Her defense seems to be: the bus was stopped, so apparently the Establishment Clause was too. It was not. These were children in her care, stuck on her route, and she recruited substitutes after being told to stop. The question was never whether she has a right to believe in Jesus. It was why she believed a public-school bus gave her a captive congregation. If a Muslim driver handed out Ramadan pamphlets to the same kids, the people screaming persecution would be calling the governor before the bus reached the next stop.
Jesus is a good worker, shows up on time, pays his bills, and I trust my children around him. He sets a good example, and is a friend of mine. What has happened to him shouldn’t happen to Charles Manson!
Good thing the court didn't fall for that Joe Kennedy prayer time BS. I've been waiting for that to pop up again. And candy canes are shaped like that because of the J in Jesus?! of course, how did I not see that before. Of course, I already knew about Twixes being two letter Is for Islam
If religionists gave a shit about students' best interests, they wouldn't promote gambling to kids by claiming their very specific Bronze Age superstition is any more valid than the millions of other Bronze Age superstitions. Instead, they'd show them how to spot and avoid a 'sucker bet.'(aka religion).
Recently the weather has cooled, requiring that I bring the B-I-G (near "mall-sized") potted ficus inside from the front porch.
In shuffling the huge and heavy pot to the bay window, and not realizing how much bigger it is this year, I managed to knock one of my deceased mother's Four Freedoms plates from its place ABOVE the windows, to MANY places on the floor.
Guess which "freedom" came crashing to the floor! (And you folks claim there is NO GAWD!)
I have two potted lemon trees that I put on my covered porch in winter and wrap one of those silver emergency blankets around the pots. Has worked out very well.
Freedom for the US to sell to the colonies of the British Empire when WW2 is over? (Always my favorite freedom of the Atlantic Charter. FDR had Winnie the Pooh over a barrel, and FDR took advantage. Why we love FDR. Are the liberals listening? Hugo Black knocked prayer out of public schools. My kind of Masonic Justice. He outgrew the KKK.)
Any guesses as to which mom would be the first to complain loudly and constantly if a Muslim school employee handed out candy with the tenets of Islam attached?
Holy crap, the fallout would be epic. Or the tenets of the Satanic Temple!!
Hail Satan!
My thought exactly!
And demanding a police investigation.
No one seems to be worried about the Christian Nationalist “brotherhood” these days. Very confusing times.
Complain? Hell, she'd be riding the wingnut whaaaambulance all the way up and down the Fox News primitime lineup!
I love the assertion that she was on the job only when the bus was moving. So creative!
Sounds like something a Chat GPT lawyer would suggest. ;D
"Chat GPT lawyer" One gives Chat GPT more credit than is due. 😆
https://textwith.me/en/jesus/ 🤪
I didn't say they were good lawyers!! :D
Yes, and most politicians in the U.S. federal government are lawyers, scarry. 😱
Happy Halloween! 😆
Yeah, she didn't think that through. "Oh you are off the clock when the bus is stopped? Then we will use that when computing your pay"
yeah, that's a clever move
But only on a "flat Earth". (If even that!)
Everyone else is constantly moving...around the sun.
I wonder if she views that as a binary attribute {moving XOR stationary} or if it's a function of speed { W(v) = v • m , where W is how much Working she's doing, v is velocity of bus, m is multiplier }. If she's backing up (negative velocity), is she losing money?

OT: Gonna cast my votes today!
Rock That Vote! 👍
For those voting by mail: Avoid the post office and use drop boxes. Far less chance that your vote will be messed with.
Somewhere today I saw that same recommendation. As for me, I'm still voting IN PERSON next Tuesday!
I wanted to, but tRump wants Darline. (Isn't that a trucking company? "The DarLine-Shipping By LBGTQ Nepotism!!")

Hell, when they get a hangnail, they see themselves as a victim of the godless left! 😝
"Sure, everyone has a right to practice their religion...as long as they acknowledge that ONLY Christians worship a PROPER god."
Some shit like that....
Sometimes, the right side wins. Like there aren’t other people who already have a God they worship that they don’t push on you, because manners!
But in America, EVERYONE wins when the "left side" wins!
(I know what you mean, and I can only agree, Warren.)

So coo coo choo, Mrs. Robinson, Heaven holds a place for those who pray way hey hey
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson, Jesus Christ has died and gone away boo hoo hoo

That could work, but I can't depend on this busted body to always have the strength or energy to ALWAYS remember, or act, to protect the tree.
It would only take ONE really cold night, and I'd never forgive myself. (We've been together for decades!)
But as far as the transition periods (spring & fall), it sounds quite workable! Thanks, Kay-El!
