There seems to be an inordinate number of sexual predators and flaming hypocrites hiding behind their bibles, clerical collars and performative religiosity. If there is any upside to stories like this it is that victims are being listened to, and perpetrators being prosecuted. It wasn't that long ago when the victims of these predators would be victimized all over by accusations of them besmirching the reputations of godly men. I expect he will fall back on the remorseful, and repenting Christian dodge. I just hope no one buys it.
What better place for a pervert to hide than behind a facade of presupposed "righteousness" and morality? The RCC has been doing that shit for centuries!
Can we say it out loud? CELIBACY IS UNNATURAL! At minimum, dogma-enforced celibacy is certainly not natural to the human animal. If some man or woman is asexual because of their own nature, that's ONE thing, but to declare that one's sexuality must not be expressed because of some doctrine, THAT is a one-way ticket to disaster.
Though the church has since rationalized elaborate arguments to support celibacy, it was originally instituted because various offices within the church were becoming hereditary fiefdoms, and Gregory VII saw that as a threat to his power. No legitimate children, no legitimate heirs.
Thing is, that ruling had consequences that I'll bet Gregory had NO IDEA about, and I'd bet money that it has had an untoward impact on those in the church ever since.
Well... it's natural for ace folks. Nobody's got to worry about 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 committing sex crimes. Safest demographic in the species.
Don't see many of them in the clergy, though. Maybe it's just harder to control someone with sexual shame when they've got no sexual attractions to be made to feel ashamed of?
I'd say the priesthood generally is a great place for pedophiles to hide because of the built-in expectation of upright character. It's a perfect cover, which is why so many pedos use it.
Good point! And let's not forget that not all pedophile clergy members are catholic priests. There have been big problems among the baptists and other denominations like the mormons who have an entirely lay clergy all the way up the food chain.
Considering the Mormon religion was thought up by a con man in jail who liked to bone little girls, I can't say I am surprised. Even the Amish have a sexual abuse recovery group for those who can escape.
I have no idea what the actual statistics are, but I have little doubt there are people who leave organized religion every time they see a story like this.
Fact is, faith – belief without supporting evidence – DESERVES to be ruined, particularly when it is used by hotshot preachers to exploit their congregations and enrich themselves.
The real problem is the religious one - labeling the way somebody’s brain is wired as a sin. And only being able to deal with sex as something that god allows between one man and a woman he is married to. If only people could just proudly say ‘I am LGBTQ’ then someone not interested could just say - ‘oh, that’s great, I’m interested or I’m not’. If your god is so all fired interested in who you have sex with, why doesn’t he make the appropriate hook-ups. Fear, guilt, and self loathing are the weights religions hang around peoples’ necks. Consensual sex between adults is not a fucking sin.
Beetleboobs giving parental advice. That's rich, coming from a woman who behaves like a two-dollar whore in crowded theaters. Where children might be present.
I stopped in about 6th grade when I left the holy pedophile "church." I was forced to watch bitchup fulton j sheen rant and rave about queers and perverts. I realized then the entire cabal was filled with hatred. Given what I know now, I now wonder how many altar boys the perverted monster molested.
Have a shrimp cocktail. Make sure it is made with Argentinian red shrimp that have not been cooked until just before they enter your sin hole, errrummm mouth.
But the real friends of the imaginary friend told me that the imaginary friend would be responsible for my actions. Who am I going to believe? You or some complete stranger on the Internet?
“I’m not making any excuses, but sin, sin, alcohol, drugs, and sin.”
Honey, you aren’t taking accountability either. What you did wasn’t sin, they were crimes. Once you account for that, then let’s talk about sin and forgiveness and whatnot all you want. The way your language in your confession downplays the seriousness of the accusations and your actions, shows that you are not repentant. It is difficult to admit when you’ve done something wrong, but you don’t get points for diminishing your actions here.
And the way you are still trying to sell your god, while simultaneously admitting your actions would discourage others to believe in him, is a level of sick I can’t even describe. If god was what you claim he is, all powerful and leads folks to being good, you would t be in this situation. But, even more damning for him, the fact that you count on him to forgive you completely before you even attempt to accept accountability for your true actions, and that he supposedly will forgive you for this crime, means I am not interested in worshipping him. Not when you can be forgiven for sexually abusing minors but I will never be forgiven for being born a female, or the LGBTQ community can’t be forgiven for being born LGBTQ, or atheist cannot be forgiven for not being convinced of this horrible dictator in the sky. You don’t deserve to feel relief of the guilt you should be feeling before you even actually change by accepting forgiveness from the imaginary man in your head. And no I will not be able to separate your behavior from your god and religion. It seems too many folks use their religion in the way that you do to excuse, deflect, and ultimately get away with your shitty behaviors.
I don’t believe any of the claims of god on their own. But my disbelief is confirmed in every story of religious leaders molesting children, raping adults, stealing from charity, and using influence to make policy that harms everyone. You’re nobody. You’re just another religious grifter floundering for relevance and fame with the only group who might care and you fucked that up.
And yet, we find the opposite. America is improving its moral values because of secularization. And here we have another example of the religious having collapsing morals. It's almost as if having a belief system that wipes away all your guilt if you say the right words is conducive to morally suspect behavior...
Time and time again, we find guys like Mikey doing the exact opposite of what their supposedly precious holy book instructs. You'd think they never read it.
The mantra may be old and tired, but it's a pretty consistent best seller for the right. There are always old fogies whose rose-colored glasses tell them everything was better Back Then. Writing a book confirming their bias is going to do well.

I suspect that had Tait been raised without the sexual repression of evangelical Christianity, he would have been just another gay man in healthy relationships. Indoctrination is one hell of a drug.
Speaking of, the Christian guy that just murdered the lawmaker (and her husband) in Minnesota also had abortion clinics, providers, and activists on his hit list. When are we going to start to holding groups like antiabortion organizations accountable for their hateful rhetoric? I think we should declare them all hate groups. I don’t care what religion they want to hide behind.
Want some stats on that? This five years short, but...
"From 1977 to 2020 in America, anti-abortion activists committed at least 11 murders, 26 attempted murders, 956 threats of harm or death, 624 stalking incidents and four kidnappings, according to data collected by the National Abortion Federation. They have bombed 42 abortion clinics, set 194 on fire, attempted to bomb or burn an additional 104 and made 667 bomb threats." uk.news.yahoo.com/anti-abortion-movement-killed-people-09450524…?
Exactly. It’s mind blowing to think we (I mean media) are still playing there’s two sides to this narrative. We should plaster this everywhere. No “lone wolves” 🐺
This same repression is why Christians, gay and straight, are so obsessed with sex in the first place. They've taken an important part of their being and twisted it into something they see as depraved and evil, and then tried to deny that part of themselves.
I'll believe he's sorry for his crimes when he walks into a police station and turns himself in for sexual assault. Until then, he's just another god bothering hypocrite. Also, we can't let this go without, once again, acknowledging that it's always the ones you most expect: the people who make their names and careers being loud and virulently anti-LGBT.
When an arsonist calls in a fire, we don't let him off the hook because Jesus blah blah blah. Applies double here, especially because this trash human assaulted kids.
Another creep who is only sorry he got caught and since he sees others as objects for his use, will go right back to molesting, the first chance his religion lets him.
Welp, Tait came, he saw, he conquered and he got caught. Another day for the “morally religious”. Still not a drag queen, a librarian, a liberal nor a Satanic Temple member. 🙄
Another moral rapist. Is he forgiven? Yup! Will he end up in heaven while his victims end up in hell? Of course. gawd always takes care of its own and burns them Gays in hell forever.
As always, it is a Christian nationalist redneck who can’t seem to follow their own Ten Commandments. So no I am not surprised at all. Christians=hypocrites, for it is that simple.
I alway treat religious people as if they (religious) are suffering from extremely severe delusions. I also am ready to defend myself at a moment’s notice, just in case the religious person listens to the voice in their head telling them that they must destroy me because I am satanic/evil/etc.
OT: Regarding how UnUSA treat people these days, I have been worrying if our guests (our niece and mother) would be able to get back home without strange incidents. And they did. Now I can relax again.
I have been following the story over at the Roys Report. There is so much “look at how much I’m taking responsibility for myself by not taking any responsibility whatsoever “going on. More of the devil made me do it, as hemant notes, fornicating with “God will make it go away again because I am delivert!!!!” I really wouldn’t expect much better from Tait. We’ve all heard the story before
I was hoping to hear better from the Roys report. But apparently, they don’t like the commentary to be very direct, and they don’t seem to like it coming from the perspective of a gay man unless, I’m guessing, unless he’s going to apologize for it, which I will not do. I think that my comments were direct, and not at all intemperate, but I’ll leave you to judge it.
You see, I’ve been *sniff sniff sniff* banned from commenting there. Can you imagine? Call the spade a spade, leave out the Jesus part, and people think you’re being intemperate!
This is what I wrote to one of the reporters who wrote one of the articles:
Hello, Jessica. I’ve tried to comment several times at Roys report, but apparently, my comments have been removed because they are a little too direct. Now, I think I have been banned. Oh, well, I tried—not to be mean or disrespectful, but to be honest.
So, I’m just sending it to you, instead. As a gay man, I think I have something to add to the conversation. But I also suspect that directness on these matters is not welcome, not anymore than I am.
This is what I wanted to say:
I’ve tried to comment a couple of times in order to provide a gay man’s perspective, because that is sadly lacking. It usually is when heterosexuals, especially religious ones, are discussing gay lives. But they’ve been removed. This will be my last attempt. I understand that being direct (real world) is sometimes offensive, even if there is no intention of offense. The intention of this website is to shine the light of reality on darkness. This is my intention also.
So he ‘touched men in an unwanted sensual way’. Sensual, not sexual. Yet, the headline refers to sexual assault. “Sensual” is simply Tait’s prevarication— an attempt to put distance between himself, his desires, and his actions. Having been a counselor for gay men, I would say he definitely wanted it. And my guess is, so did his victims. But the closet is a lie that encourages lies. It twists, perverts, and ultimately destroys everything it touches. He was in the closet, so there are no surprises here.
Drugs and alcohol serve three functions. One is to lower inhibitions. Another is to give oneself permission after the fact— “I was so drunk!”. A third is to dull the pain. Six months sober is nothing, not compared to years of addiction and lies. It doesn’t create credibility, except to the credulous. And it won’t make him heterosexual. That would be another lie.
This one has been doing drugs, touching men in an unwanted sensual way, lying, prevaricating, lusting, and getting drunk. He's been doing that for quite some time. He finally got caught in a way that he and his enablers cannot deny.
Maybe, that will finally open the door to honesty with himself, his associates, and his faith.
But I also will add this, coming from over 50 years of being a gay rights activist, and observing the gay side, the anti-gay side, and those who are on both sides— the homo-hating homos that infest conservative religion. He is simply another homo hating homo doing what homo hating homos do. He lacks the integrity to be honest, the courage to live his life as he is made, the fidelity to live his life as his alleged faith tells him to, and the morality to treat others as he would like to be treated.
I’m sorry that he’s a homo hating homo. With more than 50 years of observing them, I long ago concluded that they are some of the worst people on earth. I’m not sorry that he’s suffering the consequences of being one of the worst people on earth. That’s all on him and the people that enabled him.
WOW!!! The story of my life, but I NEVER forced anything on anyone. Everything was consensual. I drank to avoid guilt over what I am. I drank to get up the courage to be with a an. I got drunk to forget what I had done.
It took a long time and lot of help to learn I am a decent, caring person. Religious superstition drove me to drink. Getting sober drove me to suicide. Religion told me it was a shame I survived suicide attempts. And they still expect me to worship their evil mascot.
I absolutely understand and agree. This is what the closet does, as I said. It twists, perverts, and ultimately destroys everything it touches. I’m glad you got out of it.
Tell jeezyboy to shove a cactus up it’s non existent ass. If god doesn’t like my fucking goddamm attitude, it can get its lazy goddamm fucking ass off that throne of his and come smite me in person (I doubt it has the testicular fortitude to do it). Gody could send that even more useless goddamm fucking lazy bastard son of his to punish me (again I wouldn’t be holding my breath on that). Don’t send the holy raping pigeon, I would just shoot the fucking thing and feed it to my neighbour’s cat. It is a good thing gody/jeezyboy/the flying rat don’t exist.
Oh yeah, if any Christian reading this is offended by my blasphemous comments, the Christian can go suck jeezyboy’s dead dick. Freedom of speech includes the right to commit blasphemy.
These days, with evil lying backstabbing reprehensible Christians trying to impose their theocracy on us while molesting thousands of children every day, blasphemy is music to my ears.
You should see me when I really get going and is actively trying to insult/commit blasphemy. Most people that know me know that tact/diplomacy/and sensitivity are not in my nature. I refuse to coddled stupid and I am willing to speak my mind. If you don’t like what I say well that’s too bad.
Perhaps you should take what I mean, instead how I say it. However, I know that the religious (all religions) would never actually do any introspection or questioning of their thoughts or actions. The religious are convince that their gody is in toatal agreement with them. The religious (that again goes for all religions) can’t even conceive that they (the religious) could be wrong about anything (not with their religion backing them up).
A wise man said an unexamined life doesn’t lead to any insights or new ways to improve one’s life! I am paraphrasing this quote, for I know it is not totally accurate. However, everyone here would understand the sentiment.

Celibacy is ridiculous requirement for the priesthood, but it doesn't make anyone a pedophile. That's a lame excuse.
It many not make anyone a pedophile, but celibacy is a great place for pedophiles to hide.
I'd say the priesthood generally is a great place for pedophiles to hide because of the built-in expectation of upright character. It's a perfect cover, which is why so many pedos use it.
And they know that they will be protected from prosecution by the “holy elders.”
And they changed the rules about celibacy, because married priests left their wealth, or property, to their family, instead of the church!
Good point! And let's not forget that not all pedophile clergy members are catholic priests. There have been big problems among the baptists and other denominations like the mormons who have an entirely lay clergy all the way up the food chain.

Sin is bullshit and utterly meaningless drivel that losers use to absolve themselves of responsibility.
You are responsible for your own actions, not your imaginary fiend.
I do believe he committed crimes, not make believe sins as he thinks.
He needs to learn that no one in this country under its secular government can be prosecuted for sins. Crimes, yes.

It should always be mentioned that there are no drag queens or librarians in this story. Just conservative fundamentalist Christians.
At some point, Hemant will use "Not a drag queen" as the opening sentence for every one of these stories.
Hoping...
That is probably a wise choice these days.
And scary that we now have to think like that.
OT: Regarding how UnUSA treat people these days, I have been worrying if our guests (our niece and mother) would be able to get back home without strange incidents. And they did. Now I can relax again.
Adding: I am still worried about how the so-called government are treating people they don't like.
I just woke up. I’m not entirely there yet.
Amen.
However, everyone here would understand the sentiment.
jeezy does not listen to me. Send it to some local church.
R’amen.
You summed it up honestly just as promised.
