It is not, and has never been, the job of our secular government to backstop anybody's religion. As they always do, these people play the victim of the godless left while totally ignoring the horrific history of what Christians acting in the name of Christianity have done to their fellow humans. Neither this country nor the wider world faces a single problem that has a religious solution. Christian-nationalists are attempting to accomplish through government what they failed to achieve from their pulpits. Mere religious freedom is never enough for them.

"Mere religious freedom is never enough for them."

No, it isn't. What they want is Religious LICENSE, Religious Carte Blanche. Like their savior, the Orange Shit Stain, they want to do as they please against those they hate and get away with it.

Hillary Clinton called them: "a basket of deplorables." I think she understated it.

+++ What they call freedom of religion is them, and only them, being allowed to force their beliefs on others. Regardless of how others feel about it. They've had centuries to get their message out there.

Free inquiry is religion's biggest enemy. One of the good things the internet has accomplished is the way it has allowed people all across the free-thought spectrum to realize for the first time, they were not as alone as they once thought. Where the Christian-nationalist get it tragically wrong is believing people will passively submit to having their religion imposed on them.

Of course, Trump wants to distance himself from Project 2025. That's why he's saying in one breath that he doesn't know what it is, yet he disagrees with some of it and he wants nothing to do with it, but he wishes them luck. And that's what he'll do ... RIGHT up to the point where he gets back in the Oval Office and all of a sudden decides that Project 2025 is TERRIFIC and he wanted to implement it all along.

Because that's what Trump has done from the get-go.

FWIW, I find this plausible. He could be window dressing for the 2025 people. He lends his “impressive” name and pays no attention because he knows they will do all the effort anyway. I’ve worked with too many board members of organizations who were on the board in name only.

Don’t forget that they’re saying, out loud, in the media, that this revolution will only be bloodless if the left acquiesces to this tyranny.

The election is only the beginning. And we have to get the election right. The media handwringing over Biden’s age and health (though I admit it might be a real issue, but one I prefer over this) is only feeding the right wing narrative. Changing candidates will likely lose the election, and focusing on Biden’s age will cause problems too. We have to vote him back, even if it’s just so he can be inaugurated then step down for Harris to take over.

Then we need to fight like hell to remove the Republican Party from our collective, split the Democratic Party into the right and left (move the Overton window back where it belongs). The Republican Party needs to go the way of the Nazi Party, we can’t give them the opportunity to show us what they’re capable of, because we know it will be at least as bad as the Nazis but probably worse. Project 2025 is evidence of that.
